20TH INTERNATIONAL MUSIC AWARDS (BIRDIES)
at the boy toy stadium, los angeles, california

"Just a little more eyeshadow .... no, not THAT much! Who do you think I am, Sexy Star!?"
Listening to Lewis having his make-up done makes one want to laugh and cry at the same time. No matter how experienced the make-up artists you bring in, he always fires them and does it himself in the end. Same with personal shoppers, and especially with hair stylists.
Lewis doesn't seem to mind that he's standing in for Jakey. He just wants to do a stellar job of stepping into Jakey's shoes ....
"These heels are not, I repeat, NOT high enough!"
.... well, more like Joshy's. But Jakey is going to survive. Unlike Bikki, who isn't. It's like acting out the part of a ghost; floating around atop the stage, giving out congratulations and commiserations, and most importantly, award certificates. All written in beautiful cursive, not a letter out of place. The certificates are there, but where's the presenter? Nowhere.
"Fuck you all, NONE of you know what you're doing! I'm doing it all myself!"
And with half an hour to go, Lewis turns out, as perfectly calligraphed as the awards. He's as good an artist as he is a musician, especially when his body is his canvas. "You alright, lass?" he asks me, holding up a blusher brush. "Need a little finishing off?"
"I'm fine, thanks."
He pats me on the shoulder. "You can do this, I know you can. And if all else fails ...." Lewis walks back to his dressing room, and returns with a Super Soaker 3000.
I can't help but smile. "They're gonna taste great!"
WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO THE 20TH INTERNATIONAL MUSIC AWARDS! Please welcome your hosts - Lewis Mason and Hayley Williams!
We walk out to a cheering crowd ....
"Hello. I'm Lewis, and this is Hayley. We used to be in the band My Freaky Valentine." He cocks his head to one side, and winks. "Happy to see us back?"
They're going wild. I'd be surprised if you could hear us over the noise.
"First off, before you enjoy the first band, we have a very special video to show you, which Katie made. A dedication ...."
I click the button, and the screen starts up.
"Thankyou for watching, and enjoy Saburben Sunrise!"
If there's a dry eye in the house, it ain't mine.

Steph: Yes, I can’t wait to sit back and watch all these performances. I have my nephew with me he’s over there busy doing his thing. I haven’t had a night out in a while so this is like my little night out, very excited.

HT: You’re on tour now right, so how is that going?
Steph: It’s going great, I’m having a lot of fun.

HT: Any predictions tonight?
Steph: To be honest, just here to have fun! I’m looking forward to the performances and the funny moments.

HT: You know you’re up to three awards right?
Steph: I am? *giggles sarcastically* Of course I know that! And I want to win Best Attractive Male so bad. No seriously, if I were a boy I would be a better looking man. Half of the guys in the categories are wussies anyway.

HT: Ha ha ha, that was funny Steph! BTW You’re alone, where’s Johnny?
Steph: Please don’t start. *Stephanie snaps at the reporter*

HT: Um… ok. Oh! *Reporter comes up with a question* your fourth studio album is to be released this fall. What can we expect from this album?
Steph: Yes this fall. You can expect a lot of great things from a personal level. I mean I am a woman with a lot of experience, so the topics are going to be heavier and raunchier. My attitude it’s cockier, trust me I’m here to slay. Much better than what’s out now that’s for sure. It has a Diary of a Pop Sinner vibe and I’m excited about that. At the moment I’m just writing but I have the concept together and it’s killer. Literally when I mean it’s Killer, it’s killer.

HT: Is that a hint? *reporter gives Steph a sharp look*
Steph: Maybe *Steph looks over to other cameras, smiles and leaves to take her seat the Boy Toy Stadium Arena*

The band plays "This Is Only The Prolauge".
The band swiches it up to where the ending of "Introduction" plays in the begining of the song and then the band begins to rock out and play the song


Suprising to the band some of the people in the crowd know the song.

Alex-You know we were not sure if you guys would like us or not since we are a newer band. So if you like what you hear you can buy our new album "Doesn't Mean It's Legal"
Joel-Ya you guys should buy it. So the next song we are going to play is our new single"Song For The lovers". If you know the lyrics why don't you all help Matt out and sing along.

The song starts off like it does on the album but toward the middle of the song Dylan starts playing drums then the rest of the band comes in.
The crowd is singing threw most of the song.

Matt-Ok well this is going to be out last song tonite it's called "Live Or Die?... It's Your Choice."
Most of the crowd cheers

The song opens with a scream from Nick and is a fast song. At the final chorous Matt screams "Get up off you fucking asses and jump"
The majority of the crowd listens and gets up.

The Parasites at the 20th IMAs

The room went dark as the band took to the stage. A backing track sounded out, heavy with echo and distortion, building to create an ugly wall of sound. As the droning dischord faded, the band began their first song.

As the lights rose up, the band members were revealed, dressed head to toe in black, their hair standing on end. In the background, a tattered banner clearly made out of an old white sheet reading the word 'Parasites' struggled to fill the vast space at the back of the stage. This was truly a band who'd been thrown in at the deep end. The first instrument heard was an organ, distorted but warm sounding, which resonated through the hall playing a simple three chord melody. The drums came crashing in next, picking up the song's pace and building the energy. By the time rest of the band came in, the faces in the crowd were either ones of horror or joy, either way, the band were happy with the spectacle they'd brought. Lead vocalist Faris' vocals were the last thing to enter to the now deafening barrage, sometimes sung in a haunting, droning accent, and sometimes shouted in an indecipherable London accent. Years of playing the Southend club circuit had taught the garage rock band one thing - if you don't go for it full throttle, people aren't going to take any notice. So they played with passion and fury, kicking around the stage with blatant disregard for their own safety. The song was about 3 minutes long, and when it ended members of the audience previously sat at their tables were stood up, doing one of two things - applauding, or leaving.

"Good evening", shouted Faris, "It's good to be here, let's all try and have a good time, shall we?"

The next song on the setlist was named 'Think Of You' and was a seven minute long track, starting with bass and analogue synth chords. Faris sang 'As the flames wash around me, I only think of you. I only want to save you, but I've done all I can do' in a barritone drawl, the rest of the band playing at a slow tempo, letting the song rise and fall, feedback ringing from the speakers. This song was a harsh contrast to the aggression of the previous track. The song ended with just vocals 'I will carry you home', ringing out across the venue, as the crowd cheered.

The third and final track of their set was back to the in your face sound of the first song, at the end of which, members set about breaking their gear. Lead guitarist Joshua smashed his vintage white Fender Jaguar against the stage, the neck coming apart from the body, which he then threw into the crowd. Meanwhile, Faris set about sticking his foot through an amp cab and pulling it down, colliding with the stage making a loud bang. Finally, the members grabbed parts of the drum kit, throwing them in the air and against the back wall. Faris, leapt over the barrier, punching an audience member in the face, causing others to join in the fight. Security quickly escorted the 6' 5" lead singer out of the venue, throwing him onto the pavement outside.
All in a days work.

Holy shit! Two awards back to back. Tonight really is a night for Comatose Records. We're gonna make this short and sweet. We would like to thank the fans, the ones who voted, and most importantly Jakey mother fucking Comatose! Whoops are we suppose to cuss? I'm just so excited. Jakey produced Amneisa/The Catalyst and our hard work paid off well. Thanks everyone and we will be in the studio next month to record the follow up!

A tight, short, song, “Knife-y Wife-y” is an impassioned performance by Leon. Devoted fans remember that his influences include The Pixies and they can tell this is the band’s version of “Tame.” Unsettling lyrics, hoarse shouting, and powerful bass lines dictate the pace of the song. And almost before its begun, it’s over.

(The audience applauds politely, but a few faithful whoops and whistles ring out)

Leon: Thanks you. As many of you might know, we’ve been through some trials recently. I don’t want to elaborate, but the good thing is that we’re, uh, we’re better now, yeah.

Jimmy: Yeah, and I just want to say, um, I really love you guys. Leon, Horton, and Jon – and all our fans too - you guys are great.

Leon: Thanks man, me too.
Horton: Yeah, man, thanks.
Jon: Yeah, dude, same.

Leon: Ok enough of this schmaltzy crap, this is one our earliest songs, it’s called Hit Song (32nd Attempt). Enjoy.

The band breaks into a rollicking, radio friendly tune. Jimmy seems to relax and shreds a dominating solo. The crowd remembers this “hit” from a few months ago and sings along where they can. A good seven minutes later, the band hits the last power chord to raucous applause.

Leon: Thank you, ok we’ve got one more and then we’ve got to get off. This song, it came out of our recent sessions and it’s called “Premeditated” ah-two-three-four..

Bluesy, but not slow, the song sounds like a B.B. King reject, which is still pretty good as far as songs go.

Suddenly, the lights shift to a dramatic red; audible snaps and pops can be heard coming from the catwalks. The band looks wary, but soldier on. A creaking sound is heard, then thunderous booms as simultaneously the stage lights go completely out.

From the blackness Jon calls out, frantic: OH GOD, HELP! SOMEONE GET HELP!! (sobbing)They’re dead. they’re all dead…
