“Dude, it’s time to perform. Cheer up, you dozy sod.” Aaron said to the fuzzy looking Jason, as they, along with Robert and David, prepared to go up onto the stage to perform their sets. “Look man... I’m sorry I’ve been a bit... moody today. It’s just well; I wish Harry could be here with us, instead of in a prison cell. It’s injustice.” Jason replied as the faces of the band members dropped “No offence, Dave. We still love you too.”
Inside, Jason was not in his usual happy, fluffy mood. He was upset that Harry couldn’t see Mind be nominated for awards, and as he saw the people wade past to collect their awards, he couldn’t help feeling slightly disappointed. But those were the least of his worries. Tonight, 3 of the most successful artists in the world would battle it out to become a finalist in the battle of the bands. Blood of Wecz, one of the most influential bands in heavy metal history. Ryan Ross Hernandez, an expert bluesman and, of course, Reckoner, who have blown away the audience tonight and have also succeeded in winning two prestigious Birdies. As well as that though, they were good friends to the band. Aaron was having a good time, however, enjoying the music and alcohol involved. Although Harry wasn’t here, he knew that they would find a way to get to him, he could feel it... he was also happy that he had 3 good friends around him, sharing the laughter and the tears, even David, a new, temporary addition to Mind. But as well as being a band member, Harry was Roberts’s best friend and had seen him through tough times, like the death of family members. Ever since they were small children, they had a plentiful, friendly relationship. For his best friend to be put in jail for a crime he didn’t commit was devastating. He couldn’t make this performance, he just couldn’t...
As they went and got up out of their seats they heard a few mumblings coming from the back of the crowd. “Excuse me, oh I’m sorry!” “Pardon me, miss.” “Are you (insert name here), I’m a huge fan!” They turned around to look who it was and there was Harry, now bearded and with extremely long, flowing hair making his way towards his bandmates and best friends. The most shocked of all was Robert though. “H-Harry? Is that you?” he stuttered nervously. “Yeah, man! I’m not out yet, but I was let off to watch you guys. I’m not too late, am I?” Harry replied. “No dude, we’re just about to go on!” said Jason, his face becoming rosier and more vibrant. “Look, you have to go now; I’ll spare you all the details afterwards. Go!” Harry shouted. As he did that, the band climbed their way through the remaining crowd; luckily they were quite near the front, so there weren’t many poor people to wade through.
They were about to go onto the stage as they met the hosts walking by. “Oh my god, that’s Lewis Mason... and there’s Hayley Williams! I would faint, but we have a show to do lads. Let’s do this shit.” Aaron rallied to a huge roar from the band and they made there way onto the pitch dark stage. On the screen behind them, set a spacey scene, fit with atmospheric intro music to go along. Jason was untying his hair and Aaron was obtaining his vintage guitar, whilst Robert set himself on the drum kits. David equipped his bass quickly, quietly performing a few basslines to set himself up. On the sound of “pew-pew!”-ing lasers, they went into
Lyophilisation (The Words and The World). This was a rare opener, but it seemed to fit in perfectly with the setting. As they went into the crunchingly heavy intro riff, the spacey backdrop turned into the Mind logo. The anthemic chorus was sung by the Mind fans amongst the audience, although a lot of them were just quietly tapping their feet. You could see the blood, the sweat and the tears being absorbed into this performance.
At the end of the song, the lights dimmed slightly back to normal and Jason took to the microphone. “Hey guys. How are you tonight? Enjoying yourselves? Good. That was dedicated to, not just Harry, but all the victims in these terrible bombings. Tonight isn’t just a celebration of music; it’s a celebration of the arts. I congratulate all of the victors tonight. Apart from most attractive male, that should have been mine! Heh, heh. Just kidding, Jakey. This second one is a cover of a song I hold dear to my heart. This is by
Devin Townsend, and it is
Solar Winds. “ They afterwards went into a beautiful version of the song, except without the narration. It was grand, big and it sent shivers down many a famous rock star spine. As it got into the heavy bit, the backdrop changed to a compilation slide of many of Minds favourite moments. This includes touring with bands, photo shoots and other stuff. At the hypnotic climax, it turned to a picture of a spaceship, just sailing towards the sun.
Then the lights just went pitch black, before slowly being raised again. All the members of Mind had their heads lowered and hands clasped together. They chanted a few words in Latin, Jason saying it and then the rest of the band following in suite. They did this a few times, before going into their ahem... smash hit,
Divine Usurper. The background was now a picture of a circus at night, with clowns headbanging as the short film progressed. At the scream, 4 actual clowns came on stage, followed by Daniel the Evil Clown, who was on a throne. He started throwing out boiled sweets towards the crowd and they tried to catch it. This song was a much more fast-paced, fun song than the last 2 and it allowed the members to piss about a bit. The song came to a big band finale, as they just jammed extremely hard.
“You’ve been amazing. We’ve been Mind. Peace and love, see ya later...” Jason screamed before making his way down in backstage and tying his hair back up. It was an emotional performance for the band. At that point, Jason burst into tears, followed by Robert. They all then went back into the crowd to find Harry and be with their brother again.
OOC: It's really rushed. Sorry.
