He was born into an artistic family, his mother was an Art teacher and his father was a Music teacher. Joey was taught Piano from the age of 6 and has continued to play Piano. He also learned to play the acoustic guitar at the age of 11 and has taken guitar up as his main instrument during live shows. He graduated from High school as one of the top students in his class and attended the Berklee College Of Music from the age of 18. While there he began writing screenplays as well as lyrics and became really interested in becoming a screen writer rather than a musician. He finished at Berklee College at the age of 20 and began work at a local school as an assistant teacher, while still sending out screenplays, he had no luck with the screenplays and he therefore put all of his energy into teaching. He spent 5 years teaching before deciding to go back to his first love which is music. He began writing songs and began touring wherever he could get gigs, he often sent out demo’s to various labels but struggled to get noticed usually because his music lacked any sort of commercial ability. He commented on this news on a radio interview. This will therefore mean that Joey Rhodes will be staying in the UK for even longer. Here's the full tour dates:
