Anybody else think Metallica's "And Justice For All" album is superior to "Master of Puppets"? |

I like it but find it a bit over produced and technical at times. Dunno if it's just me but the reverb from the bass shits me to tears. |

I have no opinion on this matter. The only thing I know about Metallica is that they're fun to play drums on in Guitar Hero Metallica (as in, significantly more fun than any of the other bands included). |

I am waiting to hear what Cam has to say. I am sure somewhere in his analysis he will throw in 'St Anger'... |

And Justice does seem overproduced but I find the album to be alot heavier than other Metallica albums. The songwriting is very advanced with all the guitar parts being as technical as they are, as well as the time signatures. Its not just 4/4 time over and over again like some heavy metal albums. The drums are definately above anything else previous to the album in my opinion. I feel like Metallica experimented alot on the album. |

Captain Insano wrote:I am waiting to hear what Cam has to say. I am sure somewhere in his analysis he will throw in 'St Anger'... St Anger is amazing, I will not hear a bad word against it. Fuck Weird Al Yankovic, for comedy music, St Anger is IT! But I wouldn't neccessarily say it was their best hahaha And man, favourite Metallica record, I go over and over and over, unable to really decide on it for definite. Some days it's Master Of Puppets (that day at Download 2006 where I saw them play all of MoP live was certainly one of them :p), often it'll be Ride The Lightning, but I think that for the most of the time it's probably ...And Justice For All. There's just something about it which really strikes a chord with me, it's great from start to finish, and songs like One, Dyers Eve & Harvester of Sorrow in particular stand out to me. I don't neccessarily think it's that much of a departure from the previous album, certainly when compared to Metallica and the records that come after that, but it does have just...something. So yeah, I'd say that maybe 40% of the time I'd say AJFA is my favourite, and the RtL & MoP are 30% each. |

No, AJFA has like no bass.Over technical, they don't even play the songs live because THEY think they're too long.A lot of Metallica's longest songs sound like they don't know how to finish them.Metallica's best, and most overlooked album will always be RTL.I mean the opening riff to the title track blew me away even before I liked metal. |

The bass is low in the mix but it's still perfectly audible. And do some of the songs go on too long? Sure, but fuck, that's a problem of every single 80s Metallica song. And the reason they don't play the tracks live so much is more that Lars struggles with a track like Dyers Eve more than "it's too long". The title track is taking the piss, but really the rest of the record is hardly any longer than any other Metallica 80s record. Oh, and Kill 'Em All can fuck off. If I want speed thrash tens of bands do it better than on that record. |

Ride The Lightning everyday, first three Metallica albums are the only ones worth it. And Master of Puppets is kind of dull anyway. Afterwars it went downhill, blame Lars. |

i give puppets more listens than i give and justice for all.hell,i dont even have and justice for all on cd,mp3,etc.i still have my old cassette copy.(yeah,i'm older than dirt.)but i'm of the thought that ride the lightning is the band's zenith.a solid album through and through.puppets and justice tend to drag in places, not the case with ride the lightning.
oddly,i never cared for kill em all.i've always thought it a tad generic. |
