Hey guys, it's Scott here, singer for Black Gold Reign. Anyways, I was thinking with all these festivals springing up left and right, it would be cool if one of them was aimed more towards honoring the underground scene. We wanna see all the big (and maybe not so big) acts of today join together for a 2 day festival honoring our lesser known roots. What is underground you say? Well, think of it as, if you wanna cover that bad ass rapper you and 3 other people from philly know about, go for it. Wanna do a crazy psychobilly performance? Fantastic. Hell, even if you wanna cover freaking Job For A Cowboy, that's cool. Here's the specifics below:

Dates: June 25th & 26th

Time Span: To Be Determined

Performance: Each Band/Artist will get 45 minutes (Yeah, super long for a festival, right?, but that's why we're cool) to cover one of their favorite lesser known bands/artists, generally speaking a band/artist who's sold 1 million records or less, but there aren't any real restrictions (For instance, Cannibal Corpse has sold over 1 million records, but I'd still count them as underground).

Location: Michigan Stadium (Largest Stadium In The US)

If you wish to perform, email (OOC: PM) me, and let me know what band you are and who you'd like to cover. Remember, you can sign up to play both days. Do not reply below.

More info soon.

OOC: I would think that being underground is not mainstream and if you have sold 1,000,000 or even 500,000 you're not underground.

No...no it fucking is not...

Scott H - BoW

unfortunately Blood of Wecz are in Newcastle and Edinburgh on those nights...we would have loved to have played as Unearth. Shame

OOC: I'm not really basing it off of record sales really, that was more of an example, because, for instance, like I was talking about Cannibal Corpse, if you average their album sales, in general each album has sold around 65,000 or less, which is definitely not mainstream. It's more of, have a lot of people heard of them. But I get what you're trying to say.

IC:

@Scott - Don't get me wrong, I DEFINITELY agree, but just for examples.

@Ryan & more or less the rest of BoW - That sucks, it would've been sick to see some Unearth thrown in. Great band.

2 more bands, keep in mind, OTHER THAN HEADLINERS, positions in festival are based on first come first serve basis. There will be 2 stages, so by applying early, you guarantee yourself a spot near the top on 1 of the stages (Which stage you're on is determined by popularity, so headliners on the small stage are actually generally more popular than the first act on the mainstage, etc.)

45 minutes!? That's sooo short .... I usually get an hour at Mash, and I'm the fucking opener. The top bands at Mash get like two and a half hours.
Just saying, that's not long, that's a minusculity of a slot. That and .... isn't this the same as Coverfield? I was gonna play that before my band died.

UPDATE: As you may have just seen on The Bard's website, we can indeed confirm The Bards will be appearing for what may be the last time to honor a secret underground musician(s). This is shaping up to be huge, keep it coming you guys.

Got a ton of great acts, but we need more. The mainstage is only a third full, and the second doesn't have much more. Let's make this the biggest music fest of the year. Our underground inspirations deserve it.
