Where's "Play in a classic rock cover band"?

Teaching is cool. I taught English and history for two months a while back as a substitute, without a degree I have to add. Knowing people really helps, haha.

People who go to Berkelee pretty much always get a good music job, they have lots of jobs posted on their site as well.

I'm getting a degree in cultural studies in the next couple of years, which'll mean I'll probably end up as a waiter or as a cashier in a bookstore. Perhaps the band I'm currently involved in will make it, but I doubt Sony or EMI will sign a epic progressive blablabla doom band. :')

sign to a minor label, release like ten albums but only one single overall. Then, when your following becomes like 5 ppl, become really huge, so ppl start pretending like they listened to your music before you got popular and say that they liked it back when you had only one single out

Ha, that's a pretty good idea. I could do the whole washed up Jewish rock star thing. Maybe that work if we'd build a career on stealing MAIDEN riffs. But then again, look at bands like ENFORCER and WHITE WIZZARD, who've been around for a couple of years, doing that exact same thing, and have already signed to Earache.

The problem here is the "become really huge" part. Last time I checked, heavy metal isn't exactly big business nowadays.

Nah, you just gotta go deathcore, though I'm not sure that's really metal. More of scene kids showing off bands going, "see, I listen to metal".

You could get on a minor label without too much of a problem, a lot of them have like 2 big bands and are always looking for new stuff.

Honestly, I'd rather kill myself than play fucking deathcore. And since every other guy in the band I'm jamming with absolutely loathes scene/emo/core stuff, I doubt that'll happen. I'd sooner start some faggy "rock" band like CREED or NICKELBACK.

Oh come one Creed is like everyone's guilty pleasure. Mark Tremonti is actually a serious shredder, if he played metal he would shit on most guitarists.

I have an unhealthy, pathological hatred of that band. I can't even explain it. Besides, Joey Jordison is a pretty good drummer, but SLIPKNOT are still utter dogshit, so honestly, I don't even care if the individual musicians are any good.

I don't think being a musician even could be a primary job. However i know about teachers and employment as well. It's also tough out there for teachers. But I know it's more stable than begin a musician. also all the traveling costs and the gas run high. I couldn't possibly be able to do it. I'm still going to make music though, but just for fun.

I'd be happy with any label. I have to say though that the material we're rehearsing now is sounding pretty damn tight. Kinda like the bastard child of early FATES WARNING and early MAIDEN (just not as good). I really hope we can get round to recording a demo soonish.

Oh no Creed sucks I like 1 song by them, secretly.I like Slipknot's first 2 albums. They get a lot more shit than they deserve.Jordison actually isn't that great. He's ok.I heard him blast on the roadrunner united CD and it was horrible, he couldn't keep time and all you heard was the bass drum.
