Miss Vanity was interviewed by Elle where she gave exclusive details on her upcoming album and also talked about her future, love and success.
Q: Hey Miss Vanity, how are you? - I'm good thanks, continuing to work hard and having a great time on the Vanity Perfection Tour!
Q: How do you feel to have all of this success? A sell out world tour, near to 50 million records sold worldwide, all of your albums peaking in the top 2 slots, we could go on! - I've been really lucky to achieve this much, I knew I'd make it big, I had the passion and determination to do it. But I never thought I'd actually achieve this much in such a small space of time, it's all down to the fans who I love so much.
Q: So your upcoming album Dementia is set to be released this summer and your lead single is with Stephanie Fierce, how is it to work with her? - We're both very hardworking women in this industry, we both know what's good music and we know what's a hit and what the fans want. So when we get into the studio all of our ideas just come out and we always form an amazing track, this time it's "Little Miss Controversy", an amazing electropop club track.
Q: You've had all of this success but never a #1 single, do you feel the new single could get you that? - Knowing my luck, it will probably get to #2! I've actually had 4 singles to chart at #2 so I'm not very lucky with singles, but the album sales are more important and that's where I get my #1s.
Q: After this album, what do you plan on doing? - I think a greatest hits might be calling! By the time Dementia is out, I would have had 6 albums out, 5 of them studio albums! So I have many hits that I could put on it, and then after that I guess I'll be back in the studio! I'm a workaholic and I can't keep out of the studio. How are my total sales gonna go up if I don't keep releasing? I'm looking to become the biggest selling act in the world and it's not gonna be easy!
Q: You're well known for your outrageous performances, how do you come up with the ideas behind the performances? - My mind is very messed up, haha! I think there will obviously come a time where I'll be like... oh what do I do next? I've done a lot of stuff already! But I'll always find a way to do something new and exciting, it's what I'm an expert at.
Q: You're also often praised by several artists in the industry who aren't lovers of pop music, why do you think you appeal to them? - I think it's because I'm a versatile artist, I used to perform metal tracks on stage before I decided to do pop and electronic music so maybe they appreciate that. Maybe they like my outrageous style or maybe just my talent! I don't know, I'm not complaining though.
Q: Is pop dead? - Not as long as I'm here!
Q: So let's talk about your album Dementia again, it's quite similar to the title of GirlSpice's Disturbia, did you take influence from them? - Sorry to say, but I wouldn't copy a manufactured pop group like GirlSpice, as much as I like a few of their songs. I decided to name the album from my previous experiences in life, before I was famous I was taking drugs, I was on a downwards spiral and I felt like I was going crazy, like my mind was deteriorating.
Q: Do you still take drugs? - Of course... not.
Q: Do you have a partner right now? Or wish to have children maybe? - No I don't have a partner at the moment, I'm too committed to my music I guess to care for a lover. But I would love to have children one day with a partner who supported me and I want to be in a relationship where I fully know it's going to work and will be a lasting one.
Q: So tell us more about some of the other tracks on the upcoming album, what are they like? - It's all very dark, horror-pop I'd like to call it. The lead single isn't like that but the rest of the album is very much like my album Vampiric but this time I'm not just basing it on some vampire image, it's about real life problems like I previously mentioned. I mention my drug battle in the past in my track "Nightmares" on the album, but not every track is all doom and gloom... I've got another fun dance-pop track called "La Vanité", think of it as a modern day "Vogue". And in another track called "The Industry", I expose the industry for what it really is, people behind the scenes trying to manipulate the public, I won't talk too much about it though. But yeah, it's a good album basically!
Q: And finally, what do you want to say to the haters? - Oh, do they exist?"Little Miss Controversy" out June 20th. Dementia out July 5th. www.missvanity.com www.vanityofficial.tk |
