i get back ten days before the election happens... thank god for postal voting.
i won't be voting for any party however... i will look at the independants and find the one i agree with most. |

As for who to vote for, ach, I'm pretty undecided right now. I mean obviously I want to vote for one of the million socialist parties but at the end of the day they all just split the fucking vote, useless cunts. I'll probably vote for them if they manage to unite, but that's as likely to happen as I'm to win election myself. So they are probably out I think I'm afraid.
Then there's the Lib Dems, who I voted for back in Inverness mainly to turf out that useless cunt David Stewart, and well, I like bringing in PR. If France, Germany, Italy, Spain & every other Western European nation can handle varying forms of PR then I can't fucking see why we can't. So I guess they are a consideration. But they won't win here, that's for sure. I'd like to have the question of why the Lib Dems are against a referendum on Scottish independence when they claim to be all infavour of giving the people a bigger say in politics and all that answered. So I'm going to write an email to Robert Brown, the Lib Dem MSP for Glasgow asking for an explanation.
Tories are out. A) In Glasgow it's a wasted vote. B) My mother'd never forgive me. C) I'd never forgive me.
Labour. Eh. In theory I should be a solid Labour voter. But fuck Labour. New Labour. I don't like them, I don't like them cozying up to business, and I'm not going to vote for them. Plus, strong Unionist party. Plus Neil is right, the incumbent is stepping down, but it's own son who is replacing him, and I'm not a big fan of political dynasties. Bit shady. Ironically, if I was to actually join a political party I may well end up joining Labour, if only because I happen to like the Co-Operative Party within Labour.
SNP are probably favourites for my vote right now. Only party with an actual chance of winning here against Labour (Glasgow Govan has an SNP MSP, so why not a SNP MP for (almost) the same constituency?), I reckon that SNP would be in a strong position to get a good deal for Scotland (or at least a slightly better one) if there's a hung parliament, and well, I'm in favour of Scotland leaving the union. Seems a no-brainer, but it's not really. Oh aye, and they'll make sure we don't get shagged in the Holyrood budget.
If I vote with my concious I imagine I'll go for a diddy Socialist party, if I vote with my head it'll probably be the SNP, but I'm far from certain yet. |

It was sarcasm, in case you didn't know...they deserve to be ridiculed at every turn. Seriously though, out of interest, how are they likely to fare? Can't beleive that such parties exist...well, I can, but how people fall for their shit is beyond me.. I am with you, in regards to your independant's comment, as that's the trend I have been following of late. Liberal (fronted by an agressive, sabre rattling god botherer) and Labor (fronted by a gibbering, unintelligable geek who loves to play overseas with the big boys when in reality nobody gives a shit about Australia in politics) are utterly deplorable. I genuinely suggested to Paul "we should both vote BNP. For a joke like." He wasn't very impressed.
As for how they'll do? I'd be amazed if they got a single seat. The system is so heavily weighted against wee parties that it's a fucking joke.
The Green's stand a tiny chance of getting their first ever Westminister seat, UKIP might get one or two but really they stand to do nothing more than split the Tory vote I think, but that's about it for wee parties. Can't see George Galloway for Respect retaining his seat. |

I think that the BNP will sadly win at least 2 seats. They got seats in the European Parliament after all. They play the whole anti-immigration thing heavily, and unfortunately there are enough over-patriotic numbskulls out there to vote for them. So keep your eye out for them getting 2 to 3 seats at the least. It makes me sick to think that a right wing bunch of cunts like that can even get close in my country to being elected, but democracy does have it's ups and downs.
In the case of other small parties, I don't think that the greens will achieve much to be honest. Their time for sympathy in that sense has really dwindled in the last couple of elections and I think this will be a poor one for them. UKIP might get a couple, and I agree with you on respect and that tit Galloway failing to retain.
I think that the reason that the smaller parties will not win much is down to the fact that the public know how close this is going to be, and for that reason, people who previously registered "protest votes" for smaller parties will not risk their vote "going to waste" as they are often told it will if they vote small. This means that as usual the Tories and Labour will benefit.
In terms of national parties, I think that Plaid Cymru will do well in Wales again, they always end up making inroads into labour's majority down there. In Scotland I think that if Salmond and co are serious, then this is surely the time for the SNP to really push on, they have a major advantage here and if they play thier cards right they could win a huge majority of the Scottish seats. I sincerely hope not because I am against us leaving the Union, but if it is to happen, I think it will be in this next term.
All in all, I think a hung parliament with the tories having a slight, ever so slight lead is the most probable outcome, Brown will stay as PM though, with that arse Cameron at Deputy. |

The BNP are a sick joke and should not be counted out; people are sick of the 3 main parties and want to show it and idiots will believe the lies of these thugs.
I'd vote SNP is I could. Can't vote Tory, New Labour are too much like the Tories and Liberals are only really going to be of use in a hung parliament. I'll vote green as we have an incumbent councillor, but I'm not sure for the general election; anything to prevent the BNP getting in. |

It amuses me that there are people who take the BNP seriously. Don't know that much about 'em I'm afraid, but it's not a neonazi/fascist party right?
If I was British I'd probably vote either Conservative or Liberal, but again, I don't know that much about British politics.

true, but i assosiate the majority of their policy's with the left rather than right wing...
which is a daft hang up of the french revolution anyway... left and right wing.... very black and white.
ive decided what annoys me most about this election is that while both the libs and labour are both on 28% of the vote, if thats reflected in the results... Labour get 290 seasts, the libs get 80. God we need electoral reform. |
