Thanks Jason, but don't forget that you were part of that impact, you starred in our debut music video! Well we wouldn't have made it this big if it weren't for you guys, you helped build our success and we really though you deserved the award more than us. And winning against RRH is just fucking impossible, especially since it was for Best Live Act, Mind is even better than Reckoner when it comes to live performances, how much more if we're talking about the best live performer of all time?

Blog Update:04/19/10

Hey guys, this is Troy Mascenon bringing you great news! The winner for the Delta Tau Battle of the Bands has been announced, it's the great Blood of Wecz! Congratulations guys! Well the whole battle has been a great journey for Reckoner, we have improved a lot since we started out in little Teignmouth. We have met a lot of other great bands and artists like Ryan Ross Hernandez, Axiom, The Rockers, and many more. The experience we have gained from this battle is the most important thing we won and we thank everyone who participated in the event for giving us a great time and this is something we would never forget!

Slow Down is the first single off Reckoner's sophomore album Backstabber. It was debuted live on March 17 on the second round of the Delta Tau Battle of the Bands and has been on the band's live setlists ever since. The song is one of the pop inspired tracks in the album, which would feature different songs inspired by different genres. The single was recorded in the V-Records Studios and was produced by Ryan Ross Hernandez and Liam O'Mally, two of the three producers of the album. It's music video was premiered last April 27 and has received good airplay since.

Tracklisting:
1.Slow Down(Mascenon)

2.Running Around In Circles(Mascenon and Anderson)

3.I Can't(Mascenon)

Song Meanings, Origin, and Recording:
-Slow Down was a product of a bad experience of Troy back in the Chromosome 13 Tour where he was violently jumped on by a fan. "Ever since that day, I was traumatized when it comes to performing in live shows, I always had 3 body guards near me, I became really paranoid. The song was one of the easiest songs the band had recorded and it was claimed to be recorded in only 3 hours.

-Running Around In Circles is that conventional pop rock song which features simple power chords, distortion and a hook chorus. The song was about a failed relationship of someone which was not really named in the song. "It's about a failed relationship but it wasn't based on any real events in my life, it just came out of my head."

-I Can't is a song about pessimism, saying "I can't do anything right". It was written about a character based on me. The song is more of a sentimental pop sounding song with acoustic guitars and phaser electric guitars.

Announcement:
Well as you all know by now, JC joined the reality show Road To Joy and he'd be gone for a few weeks or maybe even months. The worst part about that is we still have a tour going on in May and we can't go on as just a quartet so we are now looking for anyone willing to be Reckoner's temporary guitarist. There are no specifications whatsoever, all we need is someone who can play guitar, easily learn our songs, and perform with us until JC gets kicked out of the competition, please email us(OOC: PM ofcourse) if interested..

Aaron Del Potro-Reckoner's Session Guitarist(originally from Mind)

Our temporary replacement for JC Anderson, who just joined Road To Joy, would be Mind's guitarist Aaron Del Potro. Mind and Reckoner are really close with each other since we supported them back in the Chromosome 13 Tour so it was no surprise that Aaron would join in. According to Aaron, he knows how to play some Reckoner songs like Negative and Strike so we would have no problem with him playing lead. Being a metal guitarist is also a great sign since JC also has that metal influence in his guitar playing. So Reckoner fans don't be hostile, welcome Aaron Del Potro to the band!

Eric: Sorry I didn't offer to help be your session guitarist, but we just have a really busy schedule at the moment. I would've loved to help out, though, so let me know if another chance like this comes up!
Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

Eric Quillington (Deceased) - Lead Vocals, Lead Guitar, Piano, Primary Lyricist
Matt Roberts - Bass
Greg Oldson - Drums, Backup Vocals, Secondary Lyricist
Amelia Florentine - Keyboards, Piano, Lyricist, Backup Vocals

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. Falling Down is the second single released off Reckoner's sophomore album Backstabber. The single was the only one produced by all three of the album producers since it was their favorite track. The music video for the single was released the same day of the single's release, a first for the band.

UserPostedImage

Tracklisting:
1.Falling Down(Mascenon and Anderson)
-The song is mainly about a prostitution. "The song was written back in our pre-Invisible days when the band performed in a club beside a strip club. So after the gig in the former, we thought of relaxing in the strip club and it was our first time. When we walked inside, the atmosphere was just awful and uninviting, but we still decided to go on. We only got one girl for the whole band and it was only a dance. As she danced and slowly stripped, I saw the uneasiness in her eyes, she didn't wanna do it. I felt sad for her and gave her a tip before we left the place. It was a conscience shaking experience. I never wanted to go back". The song starts of with only an acoustic guitar, Troy's falsetto vocals, and a background of synthesizers. The song slowly progresses with the bass and drums only until it reaches it's final verse and chorus where all the guitars come in with heavy distortion. All of it slowly fades away for the outro where only Troy and his guitar are left to be heard.

2.Snatch(Morrisson)
-What is to be anticipated with this B-Side? Carl singing the lead vocals! Yes, this is Carl's first song where he sings lead vocals. The song starts off with JC playing a distorted riff along the sound of continuous bass drum pounding of Tristan and a slap bass to accompany it. Carl sings the verse with distortion but the chorus with clean vocals. Troy plays rhythm guitar and piano in this song. The song was also written by Carl and its lyrics talk about a story of a fictional character named Bobby, who robs money off people in the street, steals the food he eats and gets away with all of it.

3.Falling Down(Acoustic Version)
-The song is an early version of Falling Down, and it is acoustic. The song features only two acoustic guitars played by Troy and JC where Troy plays the acoustic guitar part and JC plays the electric guitar part. It was recorded during their Acoustic Sessions EP.

Music Video:
The music video for the song focuses on Troy who walks around the streets of Paris with a disappointed look. Along the way, he sees many prostitutes doing different acts like a prostitute making love with an old man in his car, a prostitute getting beat up at an alley, a prostitute offering herself to him and even flashes some upper stuff and many more. He is disgusted at the sight of prostitutes and gets even more disappointed throughout the video. He then lays down in the middle of the road as the people around him watch. He causes traffic but he doesn't seem to care. A bright light from the sky then blinds all the people. The video ends with Troy walking once again down that road when the three prostitutes he encountered appear in front of him now living better lives then the ones they had previously, he smile sat them and they smile back..

Backstabber is the second album by the British alternative rock band Reckoner, released on May 05, 2010 despite the talks that it would be released 5 days later on May 10. The album was produced and engineered by Ryan Ross Hernandez, Liam O'Mally, and Regan Futrell in the V-Records Studios from April 2-May 3 2010. The album marks a change in musical style of the band from its pop rock sound in Invisible to a variety of musical genres like psychedelic, post-grunge, and even metal. Even Troy Mascenon has expanded his lyrical themes with themes about gun violence, prostitution, phobias, and many more. The album's artwork was created by Dale Tucker, who directed all music videos from the band's debut album.

The album has also released two singles Slow Down and Falling Down, with the former peaking at # 28 in the UK Charts and the latter peaking at #2 making it the first single of the band to enter the Top 5. The band has stated that they are to release two more singles off the album in the coming weeks.
