Welcome to Negra.us, the official website of Negra

Information
Negra is a grunge/post-rock/noise/experimental band made up of two sisters, Meg & Robin Anne Samuels. The band is notorious for writing long, rambling songs with key & time shifts interspersed through out. "We want to apply basic classical music forms to punk rock, basically," Meg Samuels explained in an interview with the Austin Chronicle. "We realize we aren't true punk rockers, and we don't try to be, but it's still a point of contention. But, who gives a fuck, really? We just want to make music our own way....the best way to describe our music is Schubert...or maybe Liszt with a guitar. And that they are girls. Or something like that."

Members
Meg Samuels is 24 years old. She plays guitar, piano and sings. She tried to get into a program to learn how to sing opera, but dropped out when her teacher was a "complete hypocrite". She also dropped out of college due to differences in opinions with her professors. She loves listening to classical music, but hates performing it.

Robin Anne Samuels is 22 years old. She plays the drums and miscellaneous percussion instruments. Like her sister, she dropped out of college...but did it for a guy she met off the internet. Unfortunately, that relationship did not last long, and she is now living with her sister. Unlike her sister, she doesn't listen to classical music and mainly listens to pop.

Band History
Negra was started out of boredom. Without a job, Meg and Robin Anne would be kicked out of their apartment in West Austin with nowhere else to go. So, they formed a band, and grew to like their "niche" - long, grungy songs with key and time shifts.

Discography
None yet. But an album, tentatively titled "Welcome to Post-Graduate Life" is in the works.

Band News
Our new single, "Lamb in the Slaughter" should be coming out soon! It sounds pretty awesome - the single rocks hard and it rocks long. The version on the single is around 7 minutes long. You'll want to listen to this one with the volume turned up. It also sounds similar to what we hope the album will be - a bunch of long, awesome songs. -Meg
