Yeah but to be fair, a) a guy in a metal band even acknowledging a pop diva is so ridiculously out of character and the metal band are going to be so below the radar of the diva to not even be worth noticing & b) if you write a well thought-out RP then getting two or three word responses, to me, is as good as getting nothing. I dunno, when I used to RP it was fantasy wrestling, where you have a reason to acknowledge other people, to be confrontational, but also plenty of leeway to break away from the usual clichés you would expect to see on a wrestling show. It seems like opportunities that work in character with interaction with other bands here is kinda limited. Of course, that's the thoughts of someone who has written about one time on the roleplay boards here :) I more or less agree with you. I'd never go so far comment whoring wise as to comment just to get some responses in return. And yes, 2 or 3 word response= total bummer. It's always a struggle I guess to find something really anti-cliche, cause sometimes it's fun to really develop a character, at least until you look back and say, 'did I just spend 3 hours trying to figure out how an imaginary guitarist would respond to "WHo are your biggest influences"?'.

I just can't see around it though. I mean what is a way to make things more interesting, realistically? How can you make people interact in a way that isn't forced and frankly, a bit shit? |

I agree, at times it's really hard to think of anything, cause really, say, for instance, you have a pop diva. What more can you do than put out singles, roleplay some music videos and have her bitch about everyone else? But occasionally there's that odd-ball character that gets you excited I guess, it's just one of those hasn't popped up since god knows when, and it's starting to get pretty bleak out there.

Eh, I use to be really active as a roleplayer, but now it has just become to feel like I have to force myself to sit down and write something instead of a while back when creativity just came to me, naturally. Like with the RRH character, I think his persona has reached its peak and quite frankly I'm bored of it. So, I'll probably either have him ride off into the sunset as a performing musician and just have him focus on other aspects of his professional career, or I'm just going to change his personality completely. I might even end up doing both. |

I wrote a really big and worked roleplay a little time ago, but I got one reply. I had even written a lot more to post on that subject, but it frustrated me. I know I'm not the best roleplayer, but all the lyrics had been written by myself and feedback would be really appreciated. Well, I've promised to end up The Prisoners in a big style and I'll try to do so next month. After that, I don't know if I'll be posting more, depends if people read it. Writing for yourself is fun at beginning, but then it gets boring. Most threads on roleplay don't raise my attention either, so that's why I don't respond it (and because I don't have much free time anymore). |

I'll admit I'm not a very good RP'er, but its fun, thats why I keep doing it. Even if I don't get many replies, its still fun to pretend that these people actually exist. My favorite character that I made is definitely Wes Haverland, its fun making everyone call him an asshole. Not a GG Allin kind of asshole.. just some guy who couldn't care less about anyone. But it is true, that most RP bands have one main character and some other guys you dont work on as much as that one. Like I said, I'm not a very good RP'er, sometimes my posts are pretty shitty, but it's still fun. I like playing with the size =)Edited by user 22 August 2010 00:43:16(UTC)
