Yeah you have to pay, it's really expensive on some sites as well (Amazon has it down for £579.99) but you don't really think I paid that do you? :P |

I'll have to find a different way to make album covers. I don't really want to spend money on it though because I'd only use it for this game. At the moment I use PhotoFiltre but it's not great. |

Yeah, I used to use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8/9 which were both pretty decent. I'm sure you could find a link somewhere to get it for free or even just a trial to see if you like it or not, I bought it for only £10 on eBay but I guess it depends if you're willing to spend or not. |

I use GIMP. It's free and you can do just about anything with it if you just do a couple tutorials with it to figure out what you're doing. |

Personally I love GIMP, it's free, and real easy to use. Basically a scaled down version of photoshop, fantastic stuff.

Paul owns a version of Photoshop, CS2 I think. Legally. He got it at student discount price though, and it came with stuff like Dreamweaver as well. Might have been about £200? |

Personally, I like Paint.net because it's basic, but good. (It's also free :P) |

Yes, I have Photoshop CS3 legally, alongside Flash, Dreamweaver, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat. Got a student license a couple years back.
The thing with Photoshop is that most people who don't have it legally don't really know what they're doing with it anyway. Not that I'm any kind of genius wizzkid or anything, but Photoshop is only as good as the person using it. I've seen people do fancy looking things with lesser programs, though for the most part, Photoshop really is the baseline standard. To do anything particularly advanced you need at least: layers, blending options, advanced text tools, and extensive colour correction options. It also helps to have things like clone stamp, and both brush (raster) and pen (vector) drawing tools. |

GIMP & paint.
Sorted.
But then my arts pretty simple, if I'll say one thing just make sure you save it as a .PNG and use good quality images, then get font's off dafont.com, pretty much all I do. |
