AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I have seen both of those bands as support and they are the friggin worst. Whitechapel with Unearth were hideous, and the lead singer kept throwing water at me cos I kept throwing him the middle finger...banter lol...and JFAC supporting Lamb of God in February...well the less said the better tbh

Dreadful, aren't they? Yeah, I got a similar reaction from Job For A Cowboy's singer for sitting down in the middle of the pit, what can you do?

sitting down in the pit? lol, superb. I once saw two massive hairy guys having a pint in the middle of a pit at a Black Dahlia gig, just casually standing, sipping on their pints...no one dared touch them

Haha, that sounds pretty legit. Anyways, nothing like that's happened at the last couple Unearth/Black Dahlia gigs, though there was some dude in one of the Black Dahlia's gorilla suits, moshing like everyone else, which I found pretty amusing at the time.

Is it Black Dahlia that you know? That is amazingly cool if so...I met Trevor the last time they played here...cool dude.
Last time Unearth were here I met them all...Buz is a tad wierd, Ken is cool as fuck, and Slo is so down to earth, we hung out with that dude for friggin ages, and he was such a cool guy.

Well, I actually originally intended to more or less follow them around Australia, but Brian from the Black Dahlia recognized me at their show on the 30th, and I've more or less been actually getting to ride in their van, they were down a guitar tech, so I got the job, lol. Weirdly kinda glad I decide to leave my son with my parents, wouldn't have flown quite as smoothly if he was here too, sadly. So yeah, the last 3 days have been spent hanging with them and Unearth and doing some restringing of guitars and such. Definitely agree with everything you've said about the Unearth guys, and all the dudes in the Black Dahlia are pretty cool, except for Ryan, who's a tad quiet. In particular, I've been hanging with Shannon for ages, real cool guy.

Lauren Harris supporting Maiden

Lol yeah but you know, even my dad would say that she could not play infront of a maiden crowd, they liked a different genre than she actually was
I honestly think she should have opened for like Pink, you know Rock but not Metal

Originality is nothing anymore, there are plenty unoriginal bands that are good, and there's only so much you can do in a genre, Bungle covered everything I don't think there's much that haven't done, black metal and that's about it.

sadly no decent shows come to south florida.however, this has saved me from crap support bands.last show i went to had "larry and his flask" and "strung out" opening for dropkick murphys. "larry and his flask" fucking owned.they remind me of squirrel nut zippers on meth or something.worth the price of admission just for the bassist's antics. "strung out" i coulda done without. i guess it was some sorta punk rock.hipster kids seemed to dig it though.

Originality is good. Some form of just sounding unique even in the smallest way is something that matters to me. You don't need to break the constraints of genre to do something original either, though of course you can. It can just be the littelest thing, a slight change from record to record that keeps a band exciting. Or at least more exciting than Iron Maiden and Slayer.

And yeah, I know. I just find Iron Maiden incredibly dull.
