Hi.

I like some hip-hop.

Generally not the stuff that makes the charts though, that sorta thing tends to be a bit dull to my ears. Nah, gimmie Dr Octagon or Aesop Rock over whoever-the-fuck.

Yay! I was afraid all the rap fans on here would be like Eminem stans or listen to Southern Rap that's not Outkast Sick

Your taste is a bit too backpacker for me though...

I'm more of a Chicago hip-hop guy. Common & Kanye for me anyday. Oh, and right now I'm digging the hell out of PackFM (no homo). Dancing

I think Eminem is amazing, Recovery is quite the record as well, better than Encore or Relapse to me. However, I'm a 90s gangsta rap fan myself. East and West coast, 2pac,Biggie,early Jay-z,Nas who's a favorite, the first Snoop Dogg album,NWA,Dr Dre's The Chronic,Mobb Deep,Mos Def,and Immortal Technique who is quite spectacular.

hip hop is as good as dead now. It's basically the new rock in the sense of the success of its artists and mainstream/underground communities. The awful, big label artist sellouts are the big shots, and the talented underground artists are all struggling paycheck to paycheck.

The few artists of hip hop that i like is A.K. Swift, old Eminem,, and Mike Shinoda.

Does this mean rock is dead too?

Blech, Eminem is hella overrated imo, Fort Minor is awful (sans 'Remember the Name'), and I don't know who AK Swift is at all.

But I will recommend some of my favorite albums/mixtapes to you made from just 2007 on to prove that hip hop was NOT dead when Nas claimed so in 2006

American Gangster - Jay-Z (2007)
Below The Heavens - Blu (2007)
Old Prince - Shad (2007) ----- MY FAVORITE ALBUM OF ALL TIME
Graduation - Kanye West (2007) ----- Wahhh wahhh wahhh ego wahhh wahh Taylor Swift. Before 808s, Kanye was easily the best emcee in the bright lights.
The Cool - Lupe Fiasco (2007)
MURS for President - Murs (2008)
Who the f*#( is B.o.B - B.o.B (2008)
Boy Meets World - Fashawn (2009)
Self Explanatory - Classified (2009)
TSOL - Shad (2010)
Sir Luscious Left Foot - Big Boi (2010)
The Good Sun - Homeboy Sandman (2010)

And I'm just doing this off the top of my head. If I looked at my iTunes or last.fm I'd have a huuuge list here.

I like me some hip-hop, but not too much. I like the more underground varieties - but then that's true of most things I listen to. Beastie Boys is about as mainstream as I go.

I don't listen to much rap, but when I do, it's usually either Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, Biggie, 2Pac or KRS-One.

Best Band - Mind
Best Album - Shattered Fairytale by Mind

Yes, but that's not the point, is it? The reason that MATTT is getting shit is not for saying he likes rock music, its because he's dismissing hip-hop. Which is fucking moronic.

And yeah, I am mostly about the indier side of hip-hop to be honest, most of the gangsta rap thing just seems ridiculous to me, though an exception is made for Ice Cube because well, can't mess with The Bomb Squad. So long as rap isn't dumb and gratutious, I'm usually OK with it. Probably the most mainstream group I like is Outkast, love both Aquemini and Stankonia. Andre really can write a mean, hooky pop song.

This one might be my fave Outkast song:

Or this

Eminem is overrated yes, but I'd say he's to the point were he's always taken out of proportion because he's just that good. He's in the mainstream yeah but he's got mad skills and people definitely shouldn't get shit because they like him I mean look at this:

After the first verse he just slays. Oh and Outkast is indeed amazing as stated by Forkboy Aquameni and Stankonia are insane.
