With all this pop nonsense (dont hate me because of my opinion) I thought this forum needs a thread about metal in all its shape and forms. What release are you looking forward to? Tours? Favourite band or genre? Discuss....or not..
I am hanging out to hear My Dying Bride's latest, been an incurable doom freak and all that. |

Cannibal Corpse Behemoth Job For A Cowboy The Black Dahlia Murder Whitechapel Oooh, yum, Behemoth. I just noticed Skinlab in there...I thought they broke up. Did have a soft spot for them way back when they first started but after listening to Revolting Room I ran the other direction, they just became so sterile and boring. |

I've seen Job For A Cowboy twice. Wow! A life once lost is pretty cool too. Most bands that come back are boring. Slayer I wish would die. I wish coal chamber came back. If you must see Cradle of filth. |

I worship at the Unholy altar that is Slayer. As for Coalchamber, they are forever associated with nu metal therefore they must never be allowed to reform ever. |

I dunno, Now slipknot on the other hand.GAYYYYY. I don't like the 2000 slayer. the 80's slayer and some 90's were good. Now they are getting old, King's solos are freaking sloppy as hell. |

I wanna get my hands on Crack the Skye by Mastadon. I'm seeing Children of Bodom on May 11th. My favorite genre is probably Thrash or one of the "Melodic" metal genres like Melodic Death Metal and Melodic Black Metal. Even though they aren't so great now, I really like the first 2 Dimmu Borgir albums, Stormblast 05 is good though.
My favorite metal bands would be: Children of Bodom Metallica Megadeth Sepultura Satyricon Death Opeth Slayer Dimmu Borgir and Stratovarius |
The Nimrods (Progressive Death Metal,Progressive Metal,Progressive Rock.Think Opeth/Dream Theater/Tool/Pink Floyd) Jimmy Him- Lead Guitar,Vocals,Primary Songwriter Davey Matlock- Bass,Guitars,Vocals,Primary Songwriter Kit Saunders- Drums, additional percussion Jaska Latvala- Rhythm Guitar,Vocals,Primary Songwriter Jack Burton- Keyboards,Keytar Satyr in the Frost(Melodic Black Metal, think Satyricon/Mayhem/Early Dimmu Borgir/Immortal) Sigmund-Vocals and Rhythm guitar Celt-Drums Saxon-Lead Guitar Sauron-Keyboard Gris-Bass Rincewind wrote:The Nimrods wrote:I knew you'd be back! *cries* now now, *hugs and steals wallet* xNightsidex wrote:Oops I stumbled over and hit the "extend ban" button. I like parts of metal, but as a whole, I find a lot of it disagreeable.
Generally speaking, I like my metal slow. Also, preferably without a guitar solo from each of the two lead guitarists per song. Meshuggah is about as far as I go into the faster end of the spectrum, and I'm not that into the last record. Really I keep to the experimental fringes of doom, post, and a tiny smattering of black. |

The Nimrods wrote:I wanna get my hands on Crack the Skye by Mastadon. Do so. It's a fucking cracker once you get past the ridiculous vocals. Needs less clean singing, but musically it's fantastic. Yes, I listen to metal, it makes-up the majority of what I listen to, but it must be said, it can be a REALLY SHITTY form of music sometimes. Metal needs a lot less metalcore, Killswitch Engage/Trivium type drivel. And Coal Chamber. Oh man. Now they are a hilarious band. Seriously. Ouch. To try and not make this a negative rant, to bring the sunshine, I want to mention a band I've been listening to a lot lately, Reverend Bizarre. Slow as hell, they bring the riffs in the best way possible, one of the finest modern doom bands, absolutely phenomenal band. Sadly no longer together but if you don't listen to them, go check them out. |

Ah yes... metal. The manliest music out there, by far (not counting modern metalcore, nu metal and gothic pussy bullshit). Here are some newer bands that everyone should look out for:
THE LAMP OF THOTH - old fashioned doom metal, kinda like a mix of BLACK SABBATH and weird obscure heavy metal bands. Their first album came out last year, and it's a scorcher. No grunts, no violins, no keyboards, no emotional bullshit - just satan & doom, oooh yeah. ASOMVEL - kinda in the vein of MOTÖRHEAD. Actually, they sound a lot like MOTÖRHEAD. But you can't go wrong with classics such as "Full Moon Dog" and "Big Knockers". DEAD CONGREGATION - great doomy death metal, like old INCANTATION and old ENTOMBED. I can't get my head around the fact that these guys haven't been picked up by some shitty major label. They annihilate 99% of other, newer death metal bands out there. MIDNIGHT - do you like VENOM? If you do, you'll love MIDNIGHT. Lots of Satan, beer, puking and bitches. ENFORCER - man, together with THE LAMP OF THOTH, this might be the best new band in a long while. Imagine a mix of JUDAS PRIEST's vocals, EXCITER's speed and IRON MAIDEN's twin guitars and you've got ENFORCER. Their 2008 debut "Into The Night" is probably one of the best albums by a new heavy metal band I've heard in the last six years. TALES OF MEDUSA - a really, REALLY obscure band. They send their releases out for free to anyone who asks for them, and all their recordings are limited to 100 or less basically. A great mix of MERCYFUL FATE, IRON MAIDEN and AGENT STEEL, with a vocalist that reminds me of JUDAS PRIEST's Rob Halford. These guys definitely deserve a big record deal and playing together with the big 'uns.

So essentially all you listen to is Iron Maiden, and Iron Maiden wannabes?
Give me gothic pussy shit with violins like My Dying Bride over that lack of variety any day. |

My favorite lately would be All That Remains. Also, I know he isn't metal but Marilyn Manson put out a new song today. Also his first single from his new album leaked out too. There both good but not as good as he claims they are in the interviews I've read so far about it. He won't never be able to make an album like Antichrist Superstar again. |
