So I recently went through my iTunes library and I came across alot of music from like 2004-2005 and for me that was the best time in the 2000's for music. There were hudge songs from band that no one even knows of but thats just me.

What era do you think is the best out of the '00's

For me, it's 2005/6. Of course, there was the album that got me into Coheed and Cambria, Good Apollo I. Alien by Strapping Young Lad. Act II by The Dear Hunter. System of a Down's Mesmerize and Hypnotize. In general, it was pretty good. Of course, I can't forget Saturday Night Wrist by Deftones either, one of their most underrated albums.

I got into music back in 2006, started with a band called Panic At The Disco..

Then later on I discovered this band called Muse who were playing at the EMAs that same year, my life has never been the same again...

I just want to point out that Gildy and I agree, a couple of years isn't what either of us would classify as an era.

I will think about what year I would call the best though.

I stand by Steven Wilson's assertion that musical "eras" seem to be over for now. There's no new big thing, just variations, hybrids, retreads and further explorations. After the electronic wave of the 80s and early 90s, there's really not been a new musical "genre". If you're young enough that you mostly follow the mainstream, it might seem like a major wave of new rock bands every now and again, but that's been happening for decades. The last time I experienced a mainstream "wave" if you like, was all the nu-metal/punk skater-oriented stuff that hit big in the UK around the early 2000s. I'm convinced that the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series was responsible for kicking that off.

Of course, I also remember several waves of new indie darlings, but those bands tend to have one supposedly epoch-making critically-hailed record and then increasing press ambivalence, or worse, backlash, before they settle back into a hazy middle-ground of quiet success.

HELL NO. Hate me for saying this but the The Resistance is SH*T compared to Black Holes and Revelations. "the Resistance"just never grew on me. To me it sounds more like a soundtrack to a horrible investigation movie sequel.

Yeah, I kind of have to agree with you. I mean, it's Muse, so it's always going to be an amazing album. But, compared to the other albums that came before the Resistance (Absolution, Origin of Symmetry, etc), it just isn't as good. It does have the makings for an incredible album, like with MK Ultra and the Exogenesis symphony, but... it's just kind of a disappointment compared to what came before it. It's still better than 90 percent of the stuff out there, though.

I guess you can say that. I mean it's still acceptable compare to the crap that is out now. I had a light of hope for 2010 and so far....sh*t. This year has been so pathetic, which is why I'm more underground music much more. It's more interesting and cheaper or even free sometimes.
