Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to this and still finding my feet but must express my gratitude.

I've spent months/years -nah decades, trying to find something that could compare to the old Codemasters classic "Rockstar Ate My Hamster" for the C64(if you aren't old enough google or you tube it and have a butchers) - tried many, disappointed by many - Rock Manager for the PC was OK, tried Popmundo - hideous. There's a game on Mousebreaker which is ok but just a button basher.

This, my friends, is an excellent piece of work. Loving the RP approach too which I've never come across before, adds a real interesting dimension (I'll get involved once I've got the hang of the game itself).

So, in short, well done, great work - you rock!

That Rock Manager game was painfully disappointing. One of my friends in school had it and it was just so gash.

Do remember that old game you mention, seem to remember it had a glorious sense of humour.

Yeah rock star ate my hamster was hilarious - generally just a piss take out of the music industry and the "stars" of the time.

So some advice please... in the RP forums can I just start something e.g. first ever interview with ""xxxxxxxxxxxxx post your questions here? Or is it frowned upon until I become accepted as an experienced forum-er

Some game play tips also very much appreciated.

Finally, Facebook page? Is there one? If not why not? This game needs to be advertised.

It's okay to do whatever you please as long as it's realistic. You can start of as a breakout superstar if you want or work your way up. At the end of the day it's just a game and as long as you do your best you can be respected. Just look around and see what sticks out to you the most and base your first RP off of that, just be realistic.

1. Introduce your artist/band with a website
2. Interview or some sort of RP that gives your character a personality
3. The world is yours.

There is a facebook page I think.... I forgot. I don't get on facebook that much.

Was going to say this, I mean really you can do whatever you want to introduce your band. I usually just make a band 'website' (just a rp page but yeah you get me :P) and leave them for a bit, let them settle down then come back with an interview or an album etc etc, and slowly build in my bands like that. Because realistically a fresh starting out band isn't going to have as much coverage, so it would be normal for there to be breaks in updates about them.

Another thing is that in game = nothing in RP, however if your band is pretty successful in the game, you could always almost go back in time and just stop releasing in game or whatever, and RP the earlier releases up until your level in both. It really is as Steph said up to you completely. As long as you don't have incredibly stupid storylines, god mod or have awful grammar, there's no real gap between noobs and members who've been here longer, it's pretty much just one big community so there won't be too much hatin' on you, and in fact as a noob your rp's will probably get more views anyway because people wanna check how good you are! So be good!

Three reason why IN-Game Charts suck:

1. GENRE: The thing with In-game is that it is not realistic. For example, a metal band can get 10 #1 singles. In real life that would not realistic because the market is not so down with metal music. The radio in no shape or form will play or give a metal song 3,000 rotations on the radio. While there is a way you can control it (not increasing popularity and your writing ability) that just sort of ruins the in game activity you want to have.

2. QUALITY: Songs absolutely have no quality or depth to them. A song tiled "I HATE WHITE PEOPLE AND I THINK OBAMA CAN SUCK THE BIGGEST COCK IN THE WORLD" can top the charts and sell over 1,700,000 copies.

3. RANDOM/NO MARKETING: While having the best stats can get you a good position on the charts, the charts are completely random. There is no such thing as promotion or marketing. And the sales don't have variety and there is a limit of weeks you can sell. Singles (14 weeks/14 days real time) and Albums (40 weeks/40 days real time)

The cool thing about RP is that while it can get unrealistic and confusing (especially with timing), we can find ways to make it right. However, the charts can simply be a good tool or a good resource for you to make up chart position numbers, especially if you want your artist/band to have mainstream success.
