Its a debate, and its serious as these four lead to what comedy is today. I find your post to be nothing but a rude comment posted for no reason other than to take "the piss" as everyone keeps saying. Either post a reason why its none of them and why its not worthy of the debate section or F-off. |

I think it should be in the off topic section because it's about comedy and in my opinion comedy isn't serious. Fair enough there's people in the past who made comedy as a platform for something more serious. Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce come to mind and they actually had something worth saying.
Don't go crazy because I said I think it should be in off topic because realistically it doesn't matter where this is posted. |

I don't know how you came to the conclusion that my short post was rude but then again you are a rather hypersensitive individual. Read the top of this forum. It says Serious Debate. Then have a look at some of the topics. You know, philopsophical and moral issues such as abortion, is god real?, organ donation, Israel etc etc. This is a more light hearted topic that would be better suited to the Off Topic forum. Comedy does not fit into that profile in my opinion.Granted as the user above said some have used comedy to highlight certain issues but whether these four pairings you listed classify as serious and learned debate, I highly doubt it. Fuck off? How about you grow up sunshine. But as you were, dont mind me. I am just been rude and taking the piss after all. Meh, I've only ever seen Laurel & Hardy films out of all of those. Fair enough its alright and that but not anything I'm going to get excited about to write essays about. The sort of comedy I'm into didn't really kick off until the 1960s or there abouts.
And yeah, I mean, not really what this forum is about, I agree. Also don't really care as it's not as if there's loads of threads going on in here anyway, it's on life support with one new thread every couple of months. Even by the standards of this forum, that's inactive. |

Well, why post? Because it's a question that I am entitled to respond to, whether you find it rude or not. Look in any case, it shouldn't really matter...something that just got blown out of proportion. We will leave it at that. Lets just fill this comatose forum with debate eh?
The only earlier style comedy that I'd laugh at goes back to Don Adams and Barbara Feldon with Get Smart, though when you watch it today it seems rather dated, almost to the point of not been funny. Yet as a kid it was my favourite show when they ran repeats (and still do). I've seen those that you listed and never found them appealing.
