The 3D was cool in Toy Story 3. I think the fact it's animated, means they can properly control the stereoscopic effects, unlike post-production 3D, or even 3D camera 3D. I don't think it added much to the film, but I thought it looked really cool.

You really can't dismiss 3D unless you have seen a 3D film, and having seen three, my opinion lands down the middle. I don't think it adds a whole lot, and you are always at the mercy of complications (only a small range of seats in the cinema get the optimal 3D view, and the human eye is not used to seeing 3D images on 2D surfaces, so it can cause eye strain. Avatar gave me a headache. Toy Story 3 did not. You really cannot rely on other people's experience either, because people experience it differently depending on all those circumstances.

3D has a way to go. It seems like after I saw Avatar everyone was going "wow, did you see that thing flying out of that other thing?" whereas with Toy Story 3 they were talking about the story. So perhaps people have gotten used to it, or else Avatar's main impact was visual, while Toy Story 3's was emotional. Well whatever...

To clarify, I meant that you cannot credibly dismiss 3D unless you have seen a 3D film. And no, not a 90s 3D film, a modern, last couple years 3D film.

Well, back from an internet hiatus of sorts. Anyways, college's seems like it's gonna start too damn soon now, don't got much longer. Me and my band, Miasma (Shit name, right? We couldn't come up with much else and gave up), have our first gig tomorrow. For anyone who's interested, we play music loosely described as a very modern sounding mash-up of Belphegpr, Carcass, Crowbar and Sepultura with touches of Corrosion of Conformity, Opeth and Great Southern Trendkill-era Pantera. It may very well be extremely foolish, but we've made the decision to have no involvement with the internet. No MySpace, Facebook ads, free music mp3's or anything. We're relying heavily on the surprisingly influential word of mouth here in Boston and a 500 poster per show minimum to gain an sort of attention. Call it a mistake, but we as a band really feel that's the kind of scene and aesthetic we really want to suport and help keep alive. So anyways, that's what's new.

I would, I'm actually not at all opposed to the idea of MySpace, but, unfortunately, I'm only one fifth of the votes, and the others don't really agree with me on the matter of MySpace and what not. Anyways, glad to hear you think it sounds interesting, have a good time at the show/your birthday man.

Since I started dating, the girl I considered my best friend has shown me what she really is, and it's a jealous, egoistic bitch.
I guess it's better to find out later than never.

I start school tomorrow. I'm not happy about it.
Too much leather chair is unsightly and greatly increases your risk of leather-smell.

Simon Amstell's sitcom Grandma's House was one of the funniest shows I've seen in a really long time. The Sarcasm was hilarious as always.

So my bday was good yesterday. However...GREEN DAY AND AFI WERE FUCKING AMAZING! A guy from the audience came on stage and sang Longview and got a telecaster. A child got "saved" and got a guitar pick. Billie sang Give Me Novocaine to a slutty girl with nice tits. And I was standing next to a drunk guy try to mosh with me (eventually it got to the point where he got another beer and I stole it so he wouldn't get any more drunk). AFI was really good but only played 30 minutes which sucks but they were awesome, I actually cried during Silver and Cold. Davey got a lot better live.

Well it's just a quiet Friday night in watching a film with Hannah. It's called Fireflies In The Garden, I hope it's good.

Man, speaking of films with fireflies in the name, you should watch Grave of the Fireflies. Fun times.
