And ya i noticed that after the show that i look like a fucken retard lol Hah, I'd say no to post-hardcore counting as metallz. Post-hardcore is weird. I've heard a lot of good bands linked to it, from Minutemen and Fugazi to At the Drive-In, Refused & Drive Like Jehu, but I still have no fucking idea what post-hardcore IS really. It's an even more nebulous and meaningless term than either of post-punk or post-rock, which is fucking saying something! |

Its sorta like a mix of Hardcore and Alternative.. Like Attack Attack! I think would be clarefied as Post-Hardcore or a band like A Day To Remember but for them Ive heard that they are "Happy-Hardcore" lol but ya I look like a dumbass I know |

Rincewind wrote:are they being described as post hardcore nowadays? sure as hell weren't when they were around.. Oh they were. I dunno, there's some great post-hardcore bands out there, that I mentioned above, Embrace, Drive Like Jehu, Rites of Spring, Fugazi, Minutemen. I don't think you can really characterise any of them as emo. Well, I remember Embrace being among the "original" emo bands, back when the term referred to emotional hardcore rather than "pop punk songs about getting dumped". |

Post-Hardcore is basically just emo. At the Drive in helped stat emo, they're emo. But there are good ones, mainly ones from DC like Rites of Spring but I don't consider Fugazi post-hardcore. |

But there are good ones, mainly ones from DC like Rites of Spring but I don't consider Fugazi post-hardcore. Man, no way did ATDI start emo. Shit was going on in the late 80s in DC. And if Fugazi aren't post-hardcore, what are they? Post-hardcore is OLD emo. Well, older. Original emo. But then some of the more modern groups that get called post-hardcore seem to be more metalcore than anything, like Attack Attack! (fucking hate them by the way. Stupid, OTT autotuned vocals are the worst thing in modern music) or Poison The Well. Ultimately it's a fucking dumb term, but I guess Fugazi & Rites of Spring aren't hardcore in the way Minor Threat or Black Flag were. I'd put them closer to just "alternative rock", but then that's another fucking meaningless term! |

Well ATDI didn't start it it was going on before that but I think they helped make it more popular. I consider Fugazi straight up hardcore but I guess that''s just me. |
