O2 Academy Birmingham

Fathers of Fury walk onto the stage and take their positions, Jack steps up to the mic and says; "Hello Birmingham!" the crowd - which seems to get bigger with each performance - cheers. "How you all doing?" The crowd cheers again. "Well, we are two thirds of the way through our promotional tour and we have decided that we are going to be releasing 'Subtle Distractions' as our first single. It will be released on the date of our last gig. Just thought I would let you know. Now, down to business, first track."
The lead guitar starts to play. Then the drums kick in, producing a steady, yet exciting beat. Not long later the other two guitars kick in and the vocals begin. After almost four minutes the audience has really started to give out a vibe and Jack Straw is revelling in it. The song ends with a huge cheer from the audience.
"Wow, that was awesome. You guys in Birmingham are great!" To that the audience cheers again; "So that was our demo track 'A New Life'; and next up is a cover of The Voyd's 'Wasteful Pleasures'!
After another couple of minutes of real rock music the audience seems fairly relaxed; most of them have already heard and seen set lists from the other performances; "So next up, we have a bit of a surprise. This is another track that has never been played to te public before - infact we havn't practiced it that much ourselves - but we thought that we would give it a go. This track is called 'Supernatural Scandals'. Enjoy!"
The audience goes quiet to listen to the brand new track. The song starts with a bang on the drum. Then 5 seconds of silence follows; which is then followed by another bang on the drum. 4 second of silence after that, there is a third bang on the drum. This continues until there are two bangs of the drum directly after one another. This then leads Freddie Johnson to spurt his drumming into a much quicker pace. At this stage the lead guitar starts playing a very high pitch sound over the top with the base and rhythm keeping up a quick sound below it. The chorus' are very loud and almost sound as if Jack Straw is very angry. The track finishes and the audience seemed to really enjoy that track.
"Thank you! It is great to be able to play the track properly. But now for another cover, the usual Infinite cover is coming up - it is one of our favourite tracks. Here goes..." 'Problems With Pluto' starts and is played through to the end, with the audience joining in on the choruses.
"Right, this is the last track of the evening;" Jack clears his throat; "Subtle Distractions!" He shouts into the mic just as the music starts playing.
After a great show Jack steps up to the mic and thanks the audience, then the boys walk off stage with Jack throwing a hat into the audience.

Old Blue Last, London

Fathers of Fury walk out onto the stage. Ollie King looks out onto the crowd; he smiles to himself. The crowds have been getting bigger each time. They boys all look at eachother and share a look of happiness between them all; all of them have been hugely grateful for this experience, and it is all down to the talent scouts of Junction Records. Jack Straw walks out to the front of the stage and puts his hands onto the microphone. He clears his throat and the audience looks up at him. "Well thank you all for coming tonight, we are really so happy to see so many of you here supporting us." with that the audience cheers. Jack laughs and continues "So tonight we intend to have an awesome performance to show our appreciation. So first up is The Voyd's Wasteful Pleasures. Enjoy!"
Fathers of Fury fans have grown to enjoy their version of the track. It is very similar but has been tweaked to suit the style that Fathers of Fury want to portray. The fans love it and give the band a lot of encouragment during the choruses. The track ends and Ollie King steps up to his microphone; "Well, I have grown to love that track. It is an awesome song. But onto the next one, it is a new addition to the tracklist - it is the first of two Infinite tracks, Supernova!" The fans all love Infinite; and the Fathers of Fury versions of their songs. With this track being such a huge success recently the expectations are high. Again the track is played differently to Infinite's original version; but this version suits Fathers of Fury more than the original did. The fans all look like they are enjoying the show as the track finishes. Now Isaac Thomson steps up to his mic; "I love that track so much! What about you guys?" directing that question to the audience - who all respond in the way that was hoped for, with a huge cheer. "So next up we are performing A New Life!"
The song starts with the lead guitar playing on its own, then after about 20 seconds a quiet drum beat kicks in. After a further 15 seconds the rhythm and bass kick in and Jack Straw starts his vocals. This song is one that the boys are most practiced at, and this shows as Jack Straw hits all of the vocals perfectly. The song finishes and the audience is at its loudest. Now Ollie takes a mic to Freddie Johnson. "Hey everybody! You all loving it?" the crowd cheers again; "Well now is the last track that we are covering - the usual Problems With Pluto!" This brings a large amount of excitement from the audience.
The track begins and the boys perform their version of the hit Infinite track Problems With Pluto to perfection. Hitting every beat in time and the notes are exactly how they have been doing it for the past few shows. The audience joins on the chorus and on thast chorus Jack Straw holds the mic out to the audience to let them sing it. The track ends and the fans are going crazy! Jack looks accross at Isaac who is in his element. To think that a month or two ago he was scared to go out onto the stage, now he is revelling in it! Jack step up to his microphone, "Right we are gonna do two tracks on the trot now, Supernatural Scandals and Subtle Distractions"
The first song starts with a bang on the drum. The fans are really enjoying this track, looks like it may be a fan favourite. The song finishes and then all goes quiet apart from the audience. Then the rhythm guitar starts up a tidy rhythm. Then the bass and the drums kick in and the song goes crazy. The rhythm guitar stays exactly the same the whole way through – this is to signify the idea of that thing that you are reminded of. During the chorus the lead guitar joins in with the rhythm and plays exactly the same tune.
The songs finish and the boys look out at the audience. They all come to the front of the stage and bow to the audience. "Thank you!" they all shout in unison. Then the boys leave the stage to go and chill after another great performance.

G.A.Y Club

As the boys prepare to go on stage, they all look at eachother and share a moment of gratitude together. They all know that tonight is the last show and they have to make it a special one. They all huddle together and share a moment of quiet before the storm that they were about to create.
A minute or two later they walk onto the stage and the audience goes crazy. "Shhhhh..." Jack indicates to the audience, they quiet down and Jack starts talking again; "Well, i would just like to thank you guys so much. These past few weeks have been an incredible journey and we are glad to have had you behind us, pushing us forwards!" With that the crowd goes crazy again. Jack clears his throat and the auience calms down. "We have prepared an acoustic track just for you guys tonight. So here we go then." The audience remains quiet as the rhythm guitar quietly plays a steady tune.

"Tonight. Tonight,
Oh, Toniiiiiight; I can see the liiiiiight,
On your face, on your face.
And Yesterdaaaaay; could only feel the paiiiiin,
Of another, broken heart.

Ooohh, Ooohh, Oh, Oh, Oh,
Ooohh, Ooohh, Oh, Oh, Oh,
Mmmmmmmmm,
And I say Thank you,
For the start you've given me,
Thank you,
For the part of you that believes,
Thank you,
And I knooow, Ooohh,
That this piece of you is true,
I can see-eeeee
That I can love you,
That I can love you,
That I, caaan loove, youuuuuuu"

The quiet guitar beat trembles off into the distance. The audience loves it and goes insane. All of the boys are glad it has been pulled off.
Ollie King steps up to his microphone and says "Well that is the first track, and today there are NO covers at all. So the show will be slightly shorter than usual but it is all our stuff for the first time. So anyway, next up is A New Life!" The audience cheers. That track was what got Fathers of Fury into the public eye, and infact signed! The track always goes down well, and most of the fans seem to know most of the lyrics now. As the track finishes the audience start cheering and Jack Straw sighs. He is grateful for the experience he has had but doesn't want it to end. While he is doing that Isaac Thomson steps up to his microphone.
"Well two down and two to go, Supernatural Scandals next!" This is a newer track but it seems to have gone down very well with the fans, a recording that was put on youtube recieved almost 500000 views since the first time it was performed.
The track finishes and Jack says into the microphone "Well thank you all for coming to see us tonight. Here is our last track, the first single Subtle Distractions. A live version of this has been released today for download only. The real album version will be released on Friday. So Here we go!" The track starts and the fans join in with the bits they know

"Walking past the place we first met,
Wishing that I hadn’t placed all those bets,
Remembering love and all that came with it,
Feeling the pain now my life has really turned shit,
I can still see the look in your eyes,
I can still feel our demise,
Hoping for another chance,
Another try!

In the middle of the night,
I can still hear your heart beating,
Won’t you give me another try?
I can still feel you and your breathing,
And worst of all,
I know I’ve done wrong,
I know that there’s nothing I can do,
But I am still in love with you

Down the road were we had our first kiss,
Little did I know, how much I would miss,
Smelling your smell, tasting your taste,
Oh it’s really hell, not seeing your face,
I can still see the look in your eyes,
I can still feel our demise,
Hoping for another chance,
Another try!

In the middle of the night,
I can still hear your heart beating,
Want you give me another try?
I can still feel you and your breathing,
And worst of all,
I know I’ve done wrong,
I know that there’s nothing I can do,
But I am still in love with you
(I am still in love with you)

These subtle distractions,
Taking me back,
Sorry ‘bout my actions,
Too late to change that,
Feeling the pain, feeling the hurt,
Love is a stain, on a brand new shirt
I can still see the look in your eyes,
I can still feel our demise,
Hoping for another chance,
Another try!

In the middle of the night,
I can still hear your heart beating,
Want you give me another try?
I can still feel you and your breathing,
And worst of all,
I know I’ve done wrong,
I know that there’s nothing I can do,
But I am still in love with you
(I am still in love with you)
But I am still in love with you"

And as the track finishes the audience all go crazy for the performance. "Thank you all so much for this whole experience! It is really appreciated! THANK YOU!"

Fathers of Fury were in the recording studio today and yesterday with JASON SMITH AND ERIC QUILLINGTON to produce a non-live version of their debut single 'Subtle Distractions'

The track will be out on Sunday to download and on Monday for general sale.

Tracklisting is:

1. Subtle Distractions [4:12]
2. Supernatural Scandals [3:59]
3. Super Blackout [4:02]

Subtle Distractions
The First Single from Fathers of Fury’s debut album is about the craziness of life, and how sometimes even the smallest things can catch your attention and take you to a whole different place. The inspiration for this song came when Ollie King’s girlfriend broke up with him, and everything reminded him of her. The song starts with the rhythm guitar starting up a tidy rhythm. Then the bass and the drums kick in and the song goes crazy. The rhythm guitar stays exactly the same the whole way through – this is to signify the idea of that thing that you are reminded of. During the chorus the lead guitar joins in with the rhythm and plays exactly the same tune – this signifies the moments when you are reminded of them. The line ‘Subtle Distraction’ is just a line from a verse, rather than being part of the chorus. This song was written by Ollie King.

Supernatural Scandals
Supernatural Scandals is basically about crimes that have never been solved; and how the perpetrator cannot be human to have caused that much damage and pain – and then for them to disappear also is unhuman. The chorus is a very loud and angry sound with Jack Straw almost shouting rather than singing. The song was written by Jack Straw.

Super Blackout
This track has no lyrics to it other than each member of the band saying Super Blackout at some point during the song. The track starts very quietly with just the bass playing. Then after a minute Jack Straw says “Super Blackout”; and then Isaac Thomson kicks in with the rhythm – so now it is the bass and rhythm playing – and after another minute Isaac says “Super Blackout”. This then triggers Freddie Johnson’s drums. He joins the playing and then says “Super Blackout” after yet another minute. Finally all four band members are playing together until they all stop and Ollie King finishes the song by saying “Super Blackout”

Jack Straw wrote:
Wow is all i can say to working with them. Both of them are amazing to work with and Eric has inspired us so much with his workwith Infintie. Both of the guys are amazing people and so helpful on our first days in the studio. So Thank you Jason and Eric!

Isaac Thomson wrote:
I love both of these guys with their own work - but together, they are AMAZING! I was actually a little bit starstruck when we met them the other day. They really helped to make this first song something really special. So thanks guys!

Fathers of Fury are back with an interview, delving into their lives now and how music has impacted their lives. Also we talk about the future and what to expect.

Hello, boys. How have you been? You sort of disappeared for a while
Well, we are all good thank you. We have been hard at work doing some work on the album, which will be out before the end of the year. How are you?
-Jack

Ooh, sounds exciting! I am good thank you also. So, what we want to know is: How have your lives changed since you hit the big time?
It is awesome! Thanks to this and the promotional tour we did, I as a person have become much more confident in myself. I am loving the whole experience. The best part is, when people come up to you in the street and recognise you. Before, I was a nobody, now everyone knows who I am!
-Isaac
Isaac has actually managed to get a girl to kiss him is really what he has happened *laughs*
-Freddie

Hahaha, well congrats Isaac
Thank you
-Isaac

So, when can we expect the next release from Fathers of Fury?
Oh, it will be quite soon. We are going to be releasing a single within the next week of two, more details of that later.
-Jack
Don't forget the album that is out in December!
-Ollie

Ooooh. So a lot to be looking forward too. When can we expect to see you guys touring?
Well we are going on the Warped! Tour, but don't expect to see us doing our own tour until after the album has been released.
-Jack

How happy were you to get Subtle Distractions out there?
It was a great feeling. To finally know that something that you have been working so hard to do will finally be heard, and appreciated! I love working in the studio and that is where we have been recently!
-Ollie

So where do you prefer to work - Studio or Live?
I prefer working live, it gives me an extra buzz
-Jack
I am more of a studio man, if i am honest, but live is awesome too
-Ollie
Man, drumming is not the same in the studio, live is the place for me. I just love it, performing tr people that have come to see YOU play!
-Freddie
I am also a studio guy, i'm still not majorly confident out there, but i do love it
-Isaac

So, Next single? What is it called and when is it coming out?
The track is called Second Hand Rock Songs, we will have more info out on it soon, but i can reveal that it will be released on the 7th of November
-Jack

Fantastic! Well I hope that you enjoy your tours, and i can't wait to hear your new stuff! When is it being premiered on the Radio?
Oh yeah, Saturday. Radio 1, with Vernon Kay! Don't miss it!
-Freddie

Wouldn't miss it for the world! Thank you very much! and Good Bye to the Fathers of Fury!!!

Second Hand Rock Songs

That is right! Fathers of Fury are back with their second single! Second Hand Rock Songs! Available to buy in stores now!

This Second Single from Fathers of Fury’s debut album is based around the idea that so many songs are ‘second hand’; this idea comes from how all bands are influenced by another bands style and that the music that they play is like a redone version of a song from their influence. The song starts with Jack Straw singing without any music. Then Isaac starts playing the rhythm guitar in the background, this starts to build up the track. Then the chorus kicks in and the drums and other two guitars start playing. In the following verses the drum beat is a quiet, yet excitable beat, which gets you ready for the chorus again. Song was written by Jack Straw

1. Second Hand Rock Songs
2. Mighty Ambitions (B-Side)

This song is about how you have to aspire for something in order to get somewhere. Without any inspiration life is pointless, as you end up in a mess and going nowhere. Working for something a lot bigger than you may be able to achieve is better than not working for anything at all. This song starts with the symbols being repetitively tapped until one big strike of the guitar. This then sends the drums into an upbeat rhythm which is joined by the rhythm and bass guitars. Jack Straw’s vocals then power through just before a massive guitar riff by Ollie King. The chorus is basically Jack Straw singing the words mighty ambitions twice over an intense lead guitar. Song was written by Jack Straw.

(OOC:New RP)

Ollie:
After spending weeks recording in London, the boys decided to go home, back to Manchester. The journey home was long and tiresome but they eventually got there. Ollie was driving, and he dropped each of them off at their houses, Freddie in Salford and the other two in Manchester. Going through Salford brought memories back to him, of his old girlfriend and the times they had spent together.
Ollie pulls up on his drive at home, he looks to the left, down the street and smiles. He can see his parents car, they have obviously come over to surprise him. He gets out of his car and pretends to have not seen them, knowing they would want to surprise him when he gets in. So he goes in and closes the door behind him. Ollie puts the kettle on - making sure there is enough water in there for his parents. Sure enough, just before the kettle has boiled there is a knock on the door. He smiles to himself and goes to the door. The door opens and...
"SURPRISE!" His parents exclaim. He welcomes them in and gives them both a hug. He looks out the door and stood there is Talia - his exgirlfriend. She looks amazing and takes his breath away. She smiles at him.
"Can I come in please? It's cold out here." Talia looks at him and stands there.
Ollie finally reacts, "Erm... yeah. Of course, come on!" He tries to act normal; Ollie thought he was over her but just seeing her made his heart stop almost. He hugs her as she comes in; but nothing too long as he doesn't want to seem clingy.
Ollie makes the drinks and they all sit down in his small living room. They all talked for hours, like nothing had changed. It got to about 11pm before anybody decided to leave. Everybody left at the same time and Ollie gave both of his parents a big hug. Talia was next.
"Thank you for coming over;" He says to her; "It was nice to catch up" He smiles at her.
She comes closer to him, he can smell her perfume. He looks down into her eyes and his heart races. He really wants to put his lips against hers again, but he knows he shouldn't. They hug and she kisses him on the cheek as she leaves. As she leaves and he closes the door behind her, he catches a glint of what looked like disappointment in her eyes. Did she want him to kiss her?

Jack:
After spending weeks recording in London, the boys decided to go home, back to Manchester. The journey home was long and tiresome but they eventually got there. Ollie was driving, and he dropped each of them off at their houses, Freddie in Salford and the other two in Manchester. Jack got out at the same time as Isaac and they walked down the road together.
"It's good to be home." Isaac says, rubbing his hands together to make them warmer.
Jack smiles; "It isn't it?"
A couple of girls walk past and smile at them. Jack smiles back but Isaac refrains.
Jack sees and laughs; "Just because you have girlfriend doesn't mean you can't smile at other girls mate! She won't kill you for just smiling at someone!"
Isaac laughs with him; and the two walk down the road together.
They get to Jack's house and have a quick hug. "See you soon mate;" Jack says to Isaac. Isaac nods and then leaves down the road.
Jack fumbles around in his pocket and realises his key isn't there. He puts his bag down on the floor and has a quick look through. No luck. Jack sigs as he realises he will have to go next door to get a key. As much as his neighbours are nice people they are very over the top and he is tired; but it is the only way in.
Jack knocks on the door and turns to look down the street, to see if he can recognise anyone. The door opens and a teenage girl speaks; "Hello?"
Jack turns back around and her face lights up. She jumps out the door and gives him a hug. "JACK! How are you? Where have you been? How are the other guys?"
Jack steps back, trying to comprehend all of the questions she just fires at him; "erm... yeah, i'm good thanks... Do you still have my..."
Just as he is getting to the end of the sentance, the girls mother walks to the door to see what all of the fuss is about. "Ah! My boy! How have you been?! You must come in! We must catch up!"
Jack smiles; "Thank you, but i just want to get into my house; do you still have my key?" The ladies face drops a bit, but she understands. He has been away for a while, and it is nice to get back to your own home. She finds the key and hands it over.
"Thank you" he takes the key and hops over the little fence separating the two houses; the girl watches him all the way into his house smiling at him. Jack closes the door behind him and just sinks to the floor. He smiles as he rests his head on the door; it is the longest he has ever been away from home for and now he is finally back.
After a couple of minutes on the floor, he gets up as the huge pile of mail underneath him isn't particularly comfortable. He picks it up and dumps it on the work top in the kitchen. 'Suppose i had better give Dad a call, see if he is alright' he thinks to himself.
Jack picks up the homephone and sees he has several voice-mails; he ignores them for now and dials in his Dads number. It rings and goes to answerphone. He tries again, and the same happens again. Jack is starting to worry now. He gives it a last go and just as it is about to ring out, someone picks up the phone.
"Hello?" It's a womans voice. Jack freezes.
"Erm... is Howard there?"
The woman shouts him; "He is indeed, who is it?"
"Jack... His son."
The woman says something and then replies; "Oh, okay, i'll hand him over now.
Jack has a quick catch-up with his dad, and soon discovers he has a new lady friend. Jack says he will go and see him tomorow and then they say goodbye. Jack is getting really tired by this point so he just goes and lies on his bed. Soon drifting to sleep...
