FreshMixx

Rapper MattY is set to release his Mixtape titled FreshMixx on the 3rd of December. The Mixtape features tracks that MattY has featured on previously - such as the tracks with Ang3licD3vil - and also some new material that is a lot darker and more like his underground roots than his debut album. MattY has also got two or three tracks featuring american rappers Jay-C and EmCee.

Here is the tracklisting for the Mixtape:

1. Intro
- A short 45 second track that gives a quick introduction of what is to come. Very electronic sound to it, with MattY's voice being distorted at several points.

2. Got 2 Be Me (With Ang3licD3vil) (remix)
- The Ang3licD3vil song 'Got 2 Be Me' which as about two girls fighting over one guy. MattY has several parts throughout the song, and has remixed the track to give himself a bit more of a role in the track.

3. Hold On
- This track is about holding on for survival, and not letting go of your dreams, no matter how hard to get to they may seem. The track has a very fast baseline and a very rhythmical rap rather than a full on speed rap. The track also has two violin players going throught with a high pitched play to it.

4. Aliens (With Ugenia) (remix)
- This is a remix of Ugenia's 'Aliens'. It is about everyone being the same and it discourages racism. The remixed version is a faster paced version with the chorus bing played behind the verses at several points. It also features MattY more heavily than the original.

5. Enemy
- The first of two singles from the mixtape. This is about how life can be difficult and there will always be an enemy of sorts wherever you go. The track was chosen as a single as it represents the children in the Great Ormands Street Hospital (who the money from the Mixtape is going too), as they all have their enemy and they will have to beleive in order to get through it. The track is based on what was originally going to be a freestyle at Radio 1xtra, but MattY felt it had more too it than a freestlye.

6. Without Light
- This is a 'drum and bass' influenced track, which shows MattY's diversity in music making. MattY's vocals on this track are fast and harsh with a very 'dangerous' feel to them. The track is about how the world is a different place when the lights are out, and MattY shows how he can really put out a 'dark side' to his music.

7. Introvert Criminal (With Heavy Punisher) (remix)
- This is a remix of Heavy Punisher's 'Introvert Criminal', whish is about his time in jail. MattY has done very little too this track but has added in aother verse for himslef at the end.

8. Rap Rage (ft. EmCee)
- A fast paced track with rapping bouncing back and forth between MattY and EmCee. The style is a mixture of both MattY and EmCee, with no clear distinction as to who is leading it. It has a quiet beat behind it which helps to build up the atmosphere of the track.

9. Americano (ft. Jay-C)
- This track features Jay-C, but he only features briefly in the second verse and has the third verse to himself. It is about the American way of life, which MattY picked up on whilst out in America. The rapping is quite slow compared to MattY's usual standard, as it is an almost laid back style like that of which MattY consider the 'American way' to be like.

10. Angels and Demons (With Ang3licD3vil) (remix)
- This is a remix of Ang3licD3vil's 'Angels and Demons', with MattY speeding up the verses but remixing the chorus to make it longer. The track has been edited to make it closer to Drum and Bass than it was before.

11. Linda Fea Skit [Radio 1xtra]
- This is the freestly that MattY performed whilst at Radio 1xtra that he did rather than the freestlye 'Enemy' is based on. It is a skit about Linda Fea, who had recently disrespected the oppening of MattYProduction. It has a small beat behind it as radio freestyles do, with MattY spitting his bars live.

12. Freak (ft. EmCee)
- The second track featuring EmCee of the Mixtape. This one has a louder sound to the background, the music gives off a sense of insanity and delirium. The rapping over the top also increases the confusion of the track, with MattY and EmCee almost having an argument over the top of the music.

13. Time's Up (ft. Hayley Hudson)
- This is about the end of time and how all good and bad things come to an end. It is a fast paced track with Hayley's voice contrasting with MattY's rapping style to make a quite dark pop track sound. Hayley Hudson does the chorus of the track whilst also holding notes into and throughout the verses.

14. Drowning out the Days (ft. Jay-C)
- This track is a more depressive track, about alcohol and how it helps to drown out the misery of life. The track has a varied pace to it, with the rapping never seeming to be in sync with the music - this represents life with drink.

15. Purge Me
- This song is in reference to 'The Purger'. It is a freestlye that makes many references to him and how he doesn't scare MattY and what he is doing is wrong and not a good thing

16. Frenzy (ft. EmCee & Jay-C)
- This track is a fast paced track with mainly MattY's voacls but with several points at which both EmCee and Jay-C have parts. The track is loud and crazy and a real fan pleaser. It is a darker track with elements of better things, with another Drum and Bass influence.

17. The Night
- This is the last proper track of the Mixtape. It is a very dark track which is similar to 'Without Light'. 'The Night' however is less inclined to be thought of as Drum and Bass as it is rapped over only a piano.

18. Outro
- This track is almost exaclty the same as Intro, but with a few very slightly word changes.

I find it pretty damn incredible that you're only sixteen, and making music like this. Didn't really hit my stride until I was 21, and you've beat me two it by five years. Keep up the great work, MattY, this mixtape is such a great listen!

-Eric Quilington
Kid Anything- Indie/Britpop/Shoegaze; influenced by Sigur Ros, XXYYXX, Kanye West, Blur, Oasis

(Bringing together an eclectic group of influences, Ulysses' songs are sung with carefree abandon by Nick Junk)

Kurt Ulysses - Songwriter, Guitarist, Backup Vocalist
Nick Junk - Vocals, Mojo

Infinite- Alternative/Experimental Rock; influenced by Muse, Radiohead, and The Beatles

(Known best for their experimental music and their frontman's eccentric behavior, the band disbanded after Eric Quillington's death to pursue solo careers or, in Matt Robert's case, peace of mind. Infinite released four albums over the course of their career; Blue Nebula, Midnight Skies, Insomnia, and Dancing about Architecture.)

"When asked 'how do you write?' I invariably answer, 'one word at a time', and this answer is invariably dismissed. But that's all it is. It sounds too simple to be true, but consider the Great Wall of China, if you will: one stone at a time, man. That's all. One stone at a time. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope."

MattY: Thank you Eric. I was really hoping it would work out, as it is a much darker route (other than the remixes) than what my album was really. It was nice, and actually quite relieving to get some music out that just showed how i was really feeling.

Lyrics to Enemy:

[spoken]
Everybody’s got an Enemy.
You just gotta know how to face it.
If you can fight it,
You can overcome it.

Okay, M A T’s to the Y
Let’s Go!

Rapped
You think you got an Enemy fam, just look where I am,
In the streets, taking beats, for a friend who deserts me.
Look up in the sky, listen to the cry, and you will know who I…
Am.
Look around you, down the alley way,
It will astound you; don’t let them lead you astray
G.O.S.C.H, look what they gotta deal with,
You should think yourself lucky man.

Oh! I got an Enemy on my back.
And I don’t know where I’m at.
Just taking a fall,
Losing it all,
Trying to be the best I can.
But I got an Enemy!

Well, my hits will keep on coming,
Don’t be afraid to say the truth it will be stunning.
Look into the eyes of the man, and tell him how you feel.
You never know fam; he might understand it real…
Good.
Look around you, I know the feelings mutual
He hates you, but you know you hate him too though son.
These girls and guys all get an Enemy,
Well take it too my friends in G.O.S.C.H and see how they wanna be.

Oh! I got an Enemy on my back.
And I don’t know where I’m at.
Just taking a fall,
Losing it all,
Trying to be the best I can.
But I got an Enemy!

[spoken]
Well, you’ve listened to what I gotta say.
Thank you, buckle up,
‘cause this journey has just begun.

SECOND MIXTAPE SINGLE COMING SOON!

MattY promised us two singles from his recently released charity mixtape, and the second will be out on Thursday 16th of December!

The track is entitled Hold On - This track was chosen as a single for a similar reason to why Enemy was; because it represents the children at Great Ormands Street. Hold On is about holding on to your dreams, no matter how silly they may seem. It is another song about believing in what you can achieve, and one day it may just happen.

MattY Blog

Hey everybody, I am loving America! The tour is going great! It really sucks that i wont be able to spend christmas with my great-grandma, but i will make sure to give her a call. I am getting a huge buzz out of touring but i can't wait to get back into the studio to start working on the second album again. The Mixtape is selling well and i am really happy with the amount of money that is being raised for Great Ormands.

Well, Merry Christmas all of you!
