[DAY 1] of Recording
[3 Hours 22 Minutes] [February 10, 2011, Germany]
Recording an album while on tour is not an easy task. Fact, its not an easy task to just go on tour....[period]. You have to make sure that you don't miss flights, everything on stage is set up correctly, make sure voice is rested and exercised and most importantly, that fans get their buck's worth. The little time you get to yourself is for sleep. But if you're like Daniel, music is your life. In every sense of the word. Yeah yeah yeah, you've heard others say it too. One of the biggest cliché you can ever say as a musician. But for Daniel, its serious. Its HIS life!
Day 1 in the recording studio went pretty rough for Daniel though. It was 12:34 am and his long time partner Xavier was only reading some lyrics off the back of an old record awaiting for "the signal", which is basically when Daniel is ready to belt out some serious vocals and/or keyboard solos. However for the first time, Daniel seemed to go into a major writer's block. Nothing was getting done on both ends. This was unusual since Daniel as well as Xavier are both known for picking up the pace. Dan's brain is usually flooded with ideas factorized by the things he sees or daydreams on a daily basis. However, something seemed to be holding him back and it took him a while for him to notice.
Daniel was just simply facing a hasty phase in his life. Was fame and fortune was finally getting to him? Maybe Daniel has completely lost interest in the music industry? Whatever it was, it was holding him back. He took a moment to analyze his facial expression on the reflection of the screen of his laptop. He noticed that he was touching his eye socket and putting pressure towards it, providing some psychedelic blurry effect. (When bored, Daniel did that out of frustration but he never took time to analyze that). He giggled, then realized there's nothing funny about staring into a computer screen and basically killing your eye sight out of boredom.
Later on, as time passed Daniel began carelessly bitting on his pencil eraser, as if it were eatable. The taste of aluminum coating wasn't so pleasing and it gave Daniel a weird tingling sensation in his mouth. Fact is, Daniel was hungry. Hungry for some lyrics on the blank document he had been staring the past few minutes.
Holding off here and there, after hours of non-stop brainstorming. Daniel finally gave up and slid his laptop towards the end of the desk hitting the wall that supported its fall.
"I can't do it" he exclaimed. He gave Xavier the keys to the studio and stormed out.
No work done on Day 1.
