A Catch Up With MattY
Dave Jones is sat in his chair looking at his computer screen as someone knocks on the door. "Come in" he shouts, and the door opens. MattY walks into the room and walks over to the desk and shakes Dave's hand.
"Y'alright mate? Hows it goin'?" he says.
Dave replies; "It is very good at the moment, how are you?"
MattY nods and smiles; "Yes mate i am good. So, shall we begin?"
Dave looks at his computer and then looks back at MattY; "Yes. So MattY, you released your mixtape recently instead of working on your second album. Why did you put off the album, and what was your reasoning for releasing the mixtape instead?"
MattY rolls his head, "Right, basically i started work on my second album, but it just wasnt feeling right for me. So i stopped work on it and had a break, i also set up MattYProduction at that point too. It was criticised that a 16 year old boy should put himself out there to the masses as a producer and that it would never work, and it started off very slowly if i am perfectly honest. But yeah, my reasoning for the mixtape was that i had some new ideas for music, but it wouldnt fit at all with the album i was trying to make, so i made a mixtape - which was gonna be free but then i decided to donate all of the money to Great Ormands Street Childrens Hospital. I also figured i would do some remixing of songs i was in before and put them in the mixtape."
Dave finishes typing up what MattY has said and smiles, "Very good. So you have been touring. How has that been for you?"
"Yeah, i mean going around the UK with Jay-C and EmCee was wicked. I had such a joke time, but unfortunately, Jay-C has decided to drop out of the second leg of the tour. I am actually still touring, in America on the Warped! Tour, that is why my FreshMixx Tour is in two parts. I love touring, but if i am honest, i can't wait to get home and just rest for days!"
Dave nods, "It does seem like it is pretty tiring stuff..."
"It really is," MattY cuts in, "but i wouldnt change it for the world."
"Good. Close To Tears is number 1 again and you have both of your mixtape singles in the top 10! How does that feel?"
MattY smiles and leans back in his chair. "I love it. Knowing that i have 3 tracks in the top 10 is incredible, and for Close To Tears to top the chart again is such an incredible feeling. I just love music!"
Dave clicks the mouse and looks up again whilst typing, "So MattY, you are considered one of the break out stars of 2010, what do you think triggered this dramatic rise in fame?"
MattY stops for a second and thinks, "erm... i dunno... the album was obviously better than predicted... and my dates at the O2 were pretty solid. And then Alicia Lena agreed to do a track with me, and everything just went through the roof. It was crazy! And i am just thankful to everyone who has helped me get to where i am; Michelle Green, Eric Quillington, Glamazon, Brit Knox, Alicia Lena and both of my record company owners - the late Stephanie Fierce and of course, Malory Evans. Without them i would be nowhere, so thank you. Oh and to Gramps - gave me a home, gave me my life."
Dave bows his head, "and on the subject of Michelle Green - the question everyone wants an answer for: Are you together?"
MattY grins and runs his fingers through his hair, "Okay, i haven't seen her for a while because we have been so busy, but yeah, we are officially together!"
Dave sits there in shock as he recieves an answer. He was expecting the usual, 'i like her but we arent together' that MattY tells the interviewers. "Wow, thats great news! Back to the interview though - what have you got lined up for 2011?"
MattY laughs as he sees the look on Dave's face, "Well this year, i intend to release my second album, i am also finishing both the Warped! Tour and my FreshMixx Tour. I am also going to be working with the incredible Cherise! She is a good friend of mine. And that is all i can think of right now - there may be another mixtape, not sure yet though."
"Very good, so that is all for today MattY, thank you very much for coming in to see me."
MattY shakes Dave's hand again; "Nah mate, my pleasure." And with that he leaves the room and closes the door to the sound of Dave typing away on his keyboard.
