How do you feel about the recent success of your first single, Stronger?
I cannot believe it, and I most certainly wasn't expecting it. But it looks like lots of people are enjoying it and I sorta knew people would, I believed in myself.
Did you think you would be successful? Citing that some have said you will always live in the shadow of your late and great sisters.
It didn't matter to me whether or not it was going to be successful! All I did was write up something on a note pad, realized that it was something that could be made into something so beautiful, so inspirational, and I recorded it. I was hoping people liked it and It looks like they loved it just as much as I did. What they have to say about my sisters and I doesn't matter to me. I usually don't listen to what people say, if its not true.. its unhealthy.
Is it any different having a family full of stars as to just being the sole celebrity in a family?
Of course. Instead of the media following one artist, they're pretty much following everyone too. Including parents, other siblings and so on... its pretty crazy.
When can we expect an album, and your next single?
I can confirm that the album will be out sometime either this month, or next month, most likely! I'm actually finishing everything with the album up right now, and the project is just miraculous ...I really didn't think I had the courage to even out do myself on the album, and I did.
Can you explain the album in a few words, will it sound similar to what we got to hear with your single?
The album is just so encouraging and core hitting. Its a very personal album that hits your inside because I went deep with this album. And I wanted to show people that I didn't need to use the death of my sisters as the main motivation behind the album, that would be fair. As for the similarity, I guess you can say that... not gonna give it all away!
Before coming out with Stronger, you came on the scene as a light metal/punk rock edge artist, what encouraged your change and do you feel you let some fans down when you became... "lighter?"
I don't know exactly.. I couldn't tell you. I just began playing around in the studio and figured I wanted to try something else out and I realized I loved the light 'Indie' in me and I stuck with it. It fits me better, I think. And I don't think I let my fans down, I hadn't released anything prior to my debut single Stronger... before that I was known as the upcoming sister of Bri and Kahlen. No one formed an exact opinion of me at that time.
Is there anyone you worked with, or would like to work with in the future?
I'd love to work with Brandon Caulfield and of course, Book Of Love...
You stated that you will not be singing about your deceased sisters on the album, is this true?
It is...
Is there a reason why, if you do not mind me asking?
Because I didn't want to travel back to that time. I do not choose to live in the pass, but to look onto other things. I rather let my sisters rest in peace rather then using them as motivation and excuse for an album. So I made sure I didn't really touch the fact that they are gone, on the album. Leave their deaths alone, no point in exploiting my feelings out in the album about it. Its bad enough we got a whole bunch of publicity following their deaths. Like I said before in an other interview: I had no choice but to reflect upon it in my writing, but I do not wish to have my whole entire album to be based on them. Their deaths are something that should stay close knit in my family, we need a little bit a privacy, at least.
Understood, thanks for joining us Yasmine, and I wish you all the best.
You too.
