GLAMAZON INTERVIEW
Let's start off by asking if this was your introduction to the world, what three words would you use to sum yourself up? Wild, daring and killer.
But of course, this isn't your introduction! How was last year for you and the success with Demons? Oh my goodness, its just been one wild ride, hasn't it? The album sold close to two million worldwide and went top 10 in the U.S, I mean really... where do I begin? (laughs) It's very strange though, I wouldn't even call myself commercial.
Why is that? I just think that I'm not very commercial as a person, when looking for a label when I was starting out, most labels looked at me as if I were a freak! I don't dress like one but my personality, I'm very dark in a way that I think of visions in my head where I'm getting some killer revenge on an ex-boyfriend, it's really all inspired by my love of violent movies and situations. But music wise, it's definitely mainstream, you could quite happily play it on the radio and that's the reason behind the success I guess! It's pop music, but it's more daring, I don't talk about things that are normally in pop songs, I'd call it violent pop if I could, can I? (laughs)
You're far from a generic popstar, even directing your own "Lethal Love" web series, is it important to you to push boundaries? Of course! Don't be in this industry if you're not willing to set trends instead of following them, that's why I decided to include my love of film into my career. I was taught how to direct a few years back by a close friend of mine and it was ever since then that I've been experimenting with film and trying to include it into my musical projects. I'm actually working on my own short film, and there's still "Lethal Love" series two to look out for around the album release. I think if people view me as generic, then that's their problem, I can't impress everyone and if I did, life would be boring, I'd be able to plot no revenge... (winks)
Tell us more about the album and when will it be released? I think it's a lot more emotional, the lead single "Killer Motives" was basically anger towards every guy that has ever broken my heart, it was about going wild and hunting all of them down and destroying them one by one. The second single is actually a ballad titled "Never Gonna Say Goodbye", it's basically refusing to let go of someone you care about who has just recently passed away, it took a lot to sing a song like that as I've just had to deal with that experience, I was mourning whilst singing it. But of course, the album isn't all doom and gloom, I'm hoping to have a third single before it's released and then put it out for March and have a slow build up for it.
And will a tour follow shortly after? Definitely! It'll only be in smaller venues as it's my first tour and I really want that connection with the fans, I like the intimacy that I had when doing club gigs and I don't want to lose that just yet, but I'm wildy excited, it's gonna be killer.
Does it get lonely at times for you? It definitely does, my axe can only do so much... you know what I mean? It isn't the best of company at times and kissing skull heads isn't as pleasurable as a live man, hmm...
What guys could you see yourself dating at the moment? Dating? Oh my goodness. Let me just say, isn't MattY adorable? He reminds me of a guy I had a crush on back in my school days and I basically attempted to make him cry all the time to get some sort of satisfaction over it, but I won't do the same to him... don't worry, I don't hunt on the young. (laughs) Can I call Stacey Walton a man? No, of course I can't, but how good would me and her be together? (laughs) Like... every guys wild fantasy right? She is a great kisser... I'd also like to kiss Brandon Caulfield just because I find him so passionate about his career, that does wild things to me, he's very attractive. I'm just happy with a guy that I can call a gentleman, you know? Someone who treats a woman with respect and is honest, caring and himself... I'm not here for so called "bad boys", I can't stand them, only one of us can be bad, and that's me, the bad bitch.
What would be your dream collaboration? I'd quite like to do a song with Radio Vine, I'm really liking her music lately and she's incredibly wild... I like that! Edward Barát has listed me as an inspiration which is very flattering and I love his style, so I'd be very interested in doing a song with him. I like how fearless and daring Daniel is, we'd be a good pair I think as well. I'd also like to do a song with an act that'd shock some people... but if I said who then it wouldn't shock! I'm very eager to work with many people as you can see... but who wants to work with a girl who has a crush on Dracula and polishes an axe in her spare time? Hmm... well if you're into that sort of thing.
And finally, do you have any words of widsom you'd like to share? My last Twitter message was "Life is a slow death" so that would be what I'd like to share, make every day count. |
