When he was 8 they moved to Las Vegas when Jerome (a computer security specialist) got a high-paying job at the Old Indian Casino which had recently opened. Upon moving to Vegas Jay noticed that there was a lot racism in his neighbourhood and avoided gangs. This didn't keep him out of trouble however and on 2009 New Years he got involved in a violent brawl where another person was seriously injured and later died because of the actions of his father Jerome. His father was extradited to the UK and Jay was also extradited as an accessory to murder. Upon trial in the UK his father was sentenced to 9 years imprisonment and Jay to 6 months in a youth offending institute. During his time in prison he started writing lyrics and eventually upon his release he downloaded music software and started recording them. He mainly focuses on writing about his experiences in America and prison but also writes about his life. He currently lives in London with his mother. It will be a digital release with no name on the artwork as Jay is opposed to branding his music with logos. All he wishes is that people connect the imagery with the music. I saw what happened to some of the kids here. There was this one lad serving 4 years for robbery to fund a heroin addiction. Man. It was messed up. He was a good guy but with the wrong crowd. Another guy I knew was caught with weed a bunch of times and earned himself 6 months. His sentence started the same day as me. He liked his music. He's now my good friend. Dont smoke either. I just wanna tell all these youths about what they can fuck up if they fall into this trap.
