OOC: I don't know why, but I'm incredibly excited to see how you do the Amy Winehouse cover. Because I worship her. Little, dead her.

OOC: I'll try not to disappoint. I always dismissed her as being crappy pop music until after her death when I heard some songs that weren't hits. She's actually a pretty decent artist. Not the best decision maker though, as we all know.

TRACK 1: Destroyer
GENRE: Industrial Death Metal, Extreme Metal

The song merges the styles of Zander Gray's atmospheric, almost ambient sounding metal sound with Shadowmachine's industrial quirks and synthesized, layered arrangements. The song is based around heavy guitar riffs, fast drumming, and menacing synthesizers, with Zander and Trent's voices merging to create ear-shattering, inhuman sounding screams and growls. The drums, which are recorded using drum programming software, are blisteringly fast and sound unable to be played by any human being, and as usual with Zander and Trent's work, all of the tracks are layered many times, creating a jumble of noise and a heavy wall of sound that can be disorienting. The song is short, vicious, and unsatisfying, as it builds to a climax that abruptly cuts off, leaving the listener thirsting for more.

look what you've done!

burn, you burn, you burn, you burn
burn, you burn, you burn, you burn
burn, you burn, you burn, you burn
burn, you burn, you burn, you burn

feast your eyes on your new gods!
there are no boundaries to our self-loathing!

woah! we have returned!
fervent rejection!
of those who are one with themselves!
so we slide into the night!
so we'll slide!

servants!
fervent!
servants!

now is the time of deliverance!
save our dead eyes!
knowing no boundaries of you fucking wastes!
we have returned!
we have returned!

TRACK 2: Provoker
GENRE: Industrial Metal, Extreme Metal

Picking up right from where the previous track 'Destroyer' left off, 'Provoker' starts right off the bat with heavy, chugging riffs, thrashy drums and dramatic synths very much in the same vein as the first track, feeling almost like a mere continuation of 'Destroyer.' As with the first song, Zander takes vocal duties for most of the song, with Trent providing backing vocals and eerie, textural synthesizers to accompany the blistering riffs and licks from Zander. The vocals are a mesmerizing mixture between operatic tenor vocals and harsh black-metalesque screaming, sounding quite bipolar at times in conjunction with the tongue-in-cheek lyrics by Zander. The flame that burns the brightest burns the shortest, as does this song, which clocks in at just under 3 minutes of insanity. The song eventually fades out as Zander screams almost unintelligibly over the backing track.

forgery
provokery
is just business

tomfoolery
hankypankery
bamboozlery

god why don't you ever answer me?
do you have a problem with my prose!?
at least reimburse me my postage!

god, can you even imagine?
how much it hurts to stay up all night!
i'm too old for this shit - too old for this shit!
everything you said was wrong was right!

it's child's play
don't make me pay
for a play by play
of your stupid fucking ways!

basic! yeah!
instructions! yeah!
before! - leaving! - earth!
B. I. B. L. E. !

suck! yeah!
my! yeah!
big ol' fucking cock!
it only brought me misery!

you're so cruel!
why do you think we're all fools!
are you trying to provoke us?
i'll piss on the pope!
dirty bastard!
why are you - no!
listen!
damn you!
listen!
tell me!

ooc: thanks :)

Zander: Mescaline might do the trick, but you must admit that most creatures love tender vittles. I know I do. I've an even bigger love for tender skittles - not the sour kind. Those are offensive to the tongue.

TRACK 3: Reckless (REHAB version)
GENRE: Ambient, Dark Ambient

"Reckless" is a song originally released on Zander's debut mixtape ZMIX. The version on that record is a brutally fast, crushing metal song, with screamed vocals, tremolo picking and blast beats galore. The version found on REHAB is the polar opposite, a stripped down, ambient song with haunting piano and synthesizer by Trent while Zander speaks softly, almost intelligibly in the background. It is mesmerizing and subtle, a drastic change from the pounding metal onslaught of the first two tracks. Meandering in and out of consciousness for six minutes, the song ends by calmly fading out.

blue = softly sung
red = spoken word

recklessness, recklessness, i've got nothing left

recklessness, recklessness, i've got nothing left

when i was young i thought i'd never live this long
this is bigger than you or me, this is bigger than both of us
i started with a guitar, a tape recorder, a keyboard
now i look into the mirror and part with my anger

recklessness, you'll have nothing left

TRACK 4: Atomic Weight
GENRE: Industrial Metal

Beginning with the sound of a ticking clock and exploding into life with a soundbite of...what else? an explosion! Atomic Weight, the fourth track off of REHAB is another primarily Zander led track. A chugging, monstrous riff comes after the introduction that sounds like a deathly march, with Zander doing what he does best in the background - screaming belligerently, directly at the listener. After the beginning section, the song kicks into high gear with a grinding metal riff, thrashy drums, and epic sounding electronics from Trent. Throughout all the chaos, the song maintains a degree of melody, with softer, clean vocals present in the background from Zander and Trent, supplemented with uplifting, anthemic passages (the "and all we love is all we are" parts.) Eventually transitioning into blistering breakdown/slam section featuring gratuitous use of sampling and electronic ear candy, as Zander screams, wails and growls his way to the end.

blue = spoken word
red = screamed/sung

woah!
all my life i've felt so deprived
what's the fucking problem, people!?
what's up, you fucking assholes!?
why can't i take the pressure!?

are you listening?
oh god
i feel like puke!
fuck you!
hear me!

we can't go home because you fucked our families!
you fucked us over for the last fucking time!
fuck you!
our time is now!

rise, children, rise!

fuck yourself!

fuck you,
i'm here to fuck your shit up
no time, no time,
just shut up and bleed!

weightlessness!
i've got nothing left!

i will never be afraid of you
all of you leeches can go fuck yourselves
go fuck yourselves!
don't pretend to be someone else!

fuck you! fuck you!
fuck you! fuck you!
rot, decompose, just don't die around me
can't take this fucking stench!

and all we love
is all we are
i'm sorry!
i stand for me!

life is something to keep in perspective
life is about having a big enough stick
life is surviving until you die old
life is a game, life is about

cunt! ...trol!

and all the stars
and all the bars
we're sorry!
we stand for we!
sorry!
so sorry!

pressing, pressing, down right on my chest
of all of my choices, death is the best
so choke on my bones when you chew up my corpse
fuck you, you vampire, i'm no fucking whore!

sorry!
so sorry!
we're sorry!
i'll never have to pretend to be - me!

TRACK 5: Whispers in the Children's Ward
GENRE: Mathcore, Noise Rock, Avant-Garde

Track 5 on ZTO's "REHAB," "Whispers in the Children's Ward" is where Side 1 of the record begins to fall apart. While the last 4 songs (for the most part) featured structure and at least a small dose of coherence, 'Whispers' has only a hint of either of those things; for the most part it is compromised of frantic guitar noodling by Zander, wailing drums, and deceptively soft piano in the background by Trent. For most of the song, Trent screams, shrieks, wails and gurgles over the manic backdrop of nightmare-music, a perfect example of the unrelenting animosity and disturbing darkness of ZTO.

a smooth tongue
with eyes like guns
silent night
close minded
stupid little pill
strap it to my wrists
am i a little sick?
is that all i am?
i'll tear myself apart for a smile
i'll tear your throat out for a smile
it's the taste, addicted to dirt
threatened by an encroaching fear of self-immolation
is this hell? this cold white hall
now i'm stuck in the children's ward
i'm a baby, i cry till i die
i've got cancer for you baby
i'm a cancer on your life
but still you weep for me
i'm whispering in negative spaces
steps forward
holds out her hands
i borrow her magic pills
steps backwards
opens her dress
sweat from her breast
droplets of poison
i feel the spiders
eating me alive
not a child anymore, i just want dad to talk to me
not a child anymore, i just want some attention
forcefully cremated
the demon has come
you have to go now, it's bedtime on the children's ward
