The single is the official lead single off of her upcoming debut studio album "The Pinkprint", which will be released on December 3rd, 2013, and was released through Live Nation on October 27th, 2013. The song was written and composed solely by Sonyae Maraj and Drew Westbrook and was produced and arranged by producer Timbaland - one of the producers that have collaborated with Sonyae on her upcoming debut album with his production. On October 20th, 2013, Sonyae released "Bordeaux" as a promotional single off of "The Pinkprint". "Alive", however, was intended on being released on that same day as the lead single off of the album. However, Sonyae and her management have stated that they wanted to put out something that they described to be 'fun', before releasing "Alive" as the lead single. Thus far, the promotional single have received praise and generally positive reviews from music critics - including other recording artists such as Tisha Jackson. Also, following the release, the media has been dubbing her as the world's "next big female rapper". A music video has been shot and will be premiering on MTV on November 4th, 2013. Shortly after the premiere, the video will be sent to other television networks and will be streaming on her official VEVO/Youtube accounts as well. Upon the release of "Alive", fans and critics have praised both Sonyae and Drew Westbrook for both of their lyrical delivery in the song. In fact, fans and critics have praised Sonyae's verse and hook greatly. Most complimented Yae's delivery and her wordplay. However, some fans and critics feel that Drew's verse outshines Sonyae's verse. "So basically, 'Alive' was written by both Drew and I about making it in life. And when I say making it in life, I mean doing what you love. Living out your dreams. Being able to accomplish what you always dreamed of accomplishing - you know what I'm sayin'? And like right about now, I'm living my dreams and I'm doing what I loved doing as always and I'm actually accomplishing what I want to accomplish. I've got a lot more to accomplish but I'm still getting stuff accomplished! [laughs]. But yeah; I love this song, I'm proud of this song, I believe that it's a puzzle piece to the masterpiece which is my upcoming album 'The Pinkprint', and most importantly I'm happy to bring forth GOOD music to my fans and for any other speculators and for the world to hear!" Music Video Premiere Date: An accompanying music video for "Alive" will be premiering on MTV Network on November 4th, 2013 at 6:00 pm EST. The video has been shot last week and was directed by Chris Robinson. Sonyae describes the video as a short film based on a story about how a girl who was at the bottom of the chain rose to the top and became a reigning queen. I remember being upset for a long long time because I couldn't get the Nicki Minaj FC. I seriously love RPing very much and I believe it's one of my favorite hobbies. For 2 1/2 years now I've wanted the Nicki Minaj FC.
