5 songs for the vegas rock festival
Kidd Amaze 2:30 – 3:00

“Vegas are you feeling good tonight? I don’t hear you are you ready to have a good tonight? Coming to stage right now, one of the youngest new rappers, be on the lookout for his debut mixtape Listen and be Amazed. Kidd Amaze,”
The DJ hits his music and the first song that comes on is his “Where do I begin” beat. Kidd comes running out on the side with a black t-shirt that’s say “Be Calm I’m Kidd Amaze” and dark pants and a black Yankee baseball fitted. With a Mic in his hand he goes straight into the song with energy “Vegas, Put your hands up!” The DJ yelled as Kidd started rapping. When he went to the hook he pointed the mic towards the crowd to have them sing.

(Where Do I begin Live)
It’s hard to start off when I don’t know where to end
For now let’s just say I’m a smooth criminal with a pen
A young old school rapper fill with competition
And feels disrespected with a Honorable mention
Please you really think participation ribbons are gona fly
You should get laugh at you missing me in the sky
I don’t get down with your so close, and almost
I’m too young yet I’m bring fire for a roast
To toast these MC like they over camp fire
With me the game now a lot are going to retire
Say hello to bad guy, I would punch your momma out
Then kick your favorite pet to leave no doubt
And I’m a bad man, that never me cross
And if you’re in my way just go and take a loss
I’m so serious you don’t want none of this
You can be Rihanna I’m going to play Chris
(Hook X2)

So where do I begin?
I’m a bad motherfucker
So where do I begin?
I’m a bad motherfucker
So where do I begin?
I’m a bad motherfucker
What?
A bad Motherfucker
What?
A bad shut-your-mouth

So where do I begin back to where I left off
Never been the one that was too soft
People think cause we don’t speak then we’re cool
All I have to say is I don’t agree with the rule
Get it straight I’m not here to make buddies
Every rapper spiting I’m aiming for their skullies
I trying to be the best one cause I don’t settle
Got a lot of drive and I keep my foot on the petal
So for a lot of mc’s they think I coming cause I am
I would kill anyone in a battle even Uncle Sam
Let put the song up to the test
Anyone want to hop on…. then I’m going to put it rest

(Hook X2)
So where do I begin?
I’m a bad motherfucker
So where do I begin?
I’m a bad motherfucker
So where do I begin?
I’m a bad motherfucker
What?
A bad Motherfucker
What?
A bad shut-your-mouth

Now where do I begin, better than that where do I finish?
Going hard for this long and showing no sign to diminish
Somebody call a doctor preferably Dr. Dre
Making these girls tingle but not sight of grey
The boys better lay, or they getting cut down
I going for the kingdom and the king’s crown
I hear them talking but only in the background
They trying to catch anything but a fucking rebound
Man and you talk about being thirsty
Trying to start shit over some controversy
Lord have mercy please pray for them
Let it be a quick and painless grave for them
I see their eye switching like R.E.M.
Go and watch me cuff him trying to fix the hem
Cause they tracking dirt and mud but I’m going clean
Got gangsta now trying to fix their gangster lean
Hook X2)

Once the song was finish He looked into the crowd “Vegas! I know I’m young and can’t do half of the shit in here but today fuck all that. We’re here to have a good time! If you want to have a good time then make some noise,” He waited as the DJ went to the next song. “I said if you want to have a good time tonight then make some mother fucking noise!” hearing the screams from the crowd he went into his next song which was his first song advice (freestyle) “I wanted to know where I begin, so what don’t we get to my first song.”

(Advice Live)

(Verse -1)
You see the person standing here is someone that is on another level
That for the other rappers to get on they will have to switch the petal
To come out of that automatic frame and learn how to do the gear shift
With no safety net to stall cause I’m out here on a cliff, edge hanging
I give you everything of me so that why my guts stay laying
My mother and grandmother have seen me through but still praying
But it is too late, cause now I starting to take notice about what is great,
And why growing up I was around so much envy and hate. Wondering
What these people see in a boy who didn’t have a strong male figure
He shouldn’t be anywhere close to successful with all things consider
Nobody expected that I would have any say because of my voice
Sadly in that matter no one really had much of a choice
Now go ahead and look at me, my cracked face can still smile and be happy
I aiming to blow everyone beak off like their name was daffy
They expected for me to just behind holding them up like caddie
I dress myself down so you don’t know what I have in my house
I going to shock to world my bio should read as electric mouse
Because I’m an Icon that you are just now getting to see
I never wondered if I could ever be talented musically
I too much like my parents to be anything else but head strong
That any weapon form against me is just going to prolong,
The inevitable outcome that we knew was coming all along
With no subtitles I’m sure you can still read-a-along
And sing a song about how you heard something that is trying to touch you
Suitably and why the only time he’s looking at you for the scrutiny
It’s news to me that everyone considers me to be an old soul
And that I resonate with others stings like a sound hole
Although my heart isn’t black in my chest I still burn coal
Don't get it twisted I’m just blessed to say I’m gifted
I trying to take the bar from the greats and get this lifted

(Spoken on the track)
And what you need to understand is it takes time it’s a process. Nobody is going to blow up all of a sudden out of nowhere and have that lasting impact. If you want to make it here you got to do what you know, and I know is the street. I was born in a harsh environment, in the ghetto, and that’s what made me strong. I was born around people who had no hope, no dreams, and the only things they were thinking about was how I’m going to feed myself and my family. I believe everyone has that something that makes them who there are and for me that music…

(Verse-2)
You didn’t know that the boy has so much to grow
But with parents working double shift you would think that they would know
Cause now that boy and grown into man
Willing to make out of life the best that he can
A collective of choices is what stands before your eyes
I have seen days, that would lead others to their untimely demise
Family cries, but when the tears dry how will they remember the person?
We could all see the same thing and each have a different kind of version
So what’s ahead of me I don’t know but every day new
I have friends that think I just a meal ticket and who
Would never turn his back on others and to a point its true
I been through the ringer that circus lion are trained too
Animal in a cage is only going to get enrage by captor
Funny how people are more so like those adapter
In bad situations they lose their will for quick satisfaction
Always quick to talk but never come with a plan of action
But that me expressing my views I’m not here to ramble
I’m done with that, I just trying to be that good example
I speaking for young you don’t have to take my advice
Just remember you only live once everything has a price.
Just made it look easy, gamble more than just a roll of the dice,

(Spoken)
This is never going to change. You will always have hip-hop and rap music. Because you will always have someone wanting to tell others not to take the path I took. I did this so you wouldn’t have to struggle; I paved the way for an easier life and that’s how it’s always going to be. Cause if done right, life can be amazing. (Echoes out)
As Advice slowly fades a new song takes it places as Kidd goes back to working the mic, “Right now I’m about to get into a love song so I want you remember that one, that first love. It doesn’t have to be sexual it could be your first love in anything. Your first is something you will always keep with you and will always have feeling for. This is for that thing or someone.

(Love for you Live)
I was never good at being attach
Everyone gets to serious and try to latch
Thinking I’m not going to be around for their support
When really they’re thinking way to extort
Now my heart has gotten colder with every scar
To point where even my humanity seem very far
I been done wrong in past and its doom to repeat
With every soft voice to sweep me off my feet
I’m not proud that I was a player that got bested
Someone with far skin and yes, large breasted
But no one understood me not even my own peers
Neglected throughout so many years with empty tears
Fears that a boy should go through all alone
The boy grows up and takes all that he was shown
And through all of the hardship he persevered
I was now someone that other would revered
(Hook x2)
I got love for you
Yea I got love for you
There nothing that I won’t do
Cause I have love for you

(verse 2)
Soon as you came around you warm me up like it was spring
Different when I'm around you so I know it's not a fling
You’re so independent I like the way your thing
Others may come around but I not worry the way I make your body sing
Baby your cool as ice even when you don't try
No reason for make-up when there no blemishes to hide
And I know others will try to play cool with their emotions inside
But my are on my sleeve like I badge I wear with pride
My words slip out but I really want to know what you about
Are you a quiet woman or do you like to run your mouth
I don't care we could talk nonstop I just want some of your heart
I know guys done you dirty is past but this is another start
And if you want to work with me we can fix the broken part
I going to tell you how I feel, not what you hear
Even when I’m on the road you’re always going to be near
I value you point of view so let me make myself clear

(Hook x2)
I got love for you
Yea I got love for you
There nothing that I won’t do
Cause I have love for you

(verse 3)
Now we are doing our things couldn’t be more parallel
People always wonder why being together seemed to fail
So good that we understood each other on a different plane
But being around each other will both leave us drain
I’m not going to say it was all you, because I’m also to blame
I sometimes wonder do you call out my name
Remember how easy it was cause we were so much the same
Damn and we’re still close almost like it we use to
Start and finishing ideas like it was planned on cue
But no I know how that story ends and you will set it straight
Their no make-up because the break-up was so hard to take
You will keep your walls up as a way for us protect
And reject any feeling that might resurrect
Two of the same kind so much that my faith is blind
When is anything dealing with you I put anything on line
I got whatever you want I happy to cover your behind

(Hook)
I got love for you
I have so much love for you
Has much as the sky is blue
Is as much as I got love for you
I got love for you
I got love for you
And no matter what you go though
I’m will always have love for you

He lets the audience finish sing the song as it goes off and he gets something to drink. He is sweating a little bit but he doesn’t mind as he motions the DJ to play another record. “How about I give something new DJ, give them something that going to be on the mixtape coming this week.” The DJ puts on “I’ll Give You Everything,” as Kidd plays to the crowd, “Ya’ll want to hear some new shit right,” He starts bouncing around on his toes getting into the music as it builds up.

(I’ll Give You Everything Live)

(Verse 1)
What I’m called is not important so I shouldn’t have to name it
Though my words are so insightful that I think you should fame it
People look at me as talent don’t they know how hard I work
People think up crazy shit like they were brought in by a stork
Sorry, but I need to pop the bubble on this misconception
For what you see is an illusion based off of misdirection
Why do I try so hard, there will away be someone better
In this today and age if it not new it just whatever
But never will I be cast aside for preference of the new toy
When I’m around I show the difference between a man and a boy
Funny cause I was kicked out hanging with the cool and popular
Only time girls were up close was through my friend’s binocular
Nice could only get so far, with bad-boys girls feel to get pretty
Even when getting man handled just thinking about them and they giggly
Really, I started to talk about rap which they didn’t know about
Now I’m one that all these girls want to blow, throw panties and pass out
TMZ had nothing on me I was ready to get my chips and cash out
See me in a relationship are girls ready to get mashed out
Fuck is yall problem when I single you didn’t look twice
Now you finally get it when I can make your life nice

Kidd starts bouncing at the edge of the stage as the music bridge into the second verse
Yea,
Okay
let me say

(Verse 2)
Finally, one of us nerds was able to get in and infiltrate
Rapping was easy they will just bring me people to incinerate
And I destroy them all, feel like a god alive again
Never focus schoolwork always raping and going in
Always used the right brain told left that you were wrong
I was gifted and was somebody that you doubted all along
Building myself up from nothing thus proving that I exist
Everyday a new girl I was always getting the assist
People seem to think that I would want to be famous
And once those lights hit me for the first time outrageous
Put you on a pedestal man you are in clouds
You supposed to be one of us, a nerd, man how?
You got me confused I’m a king and an idol
You want to learn about me you should get a rap bible
Two things will happen in this state of mind
Hopefully you’ll remember yourself and rewind
If not then you will be trapped in your own confine
Bind, you so high and what happens when the sky-falls
Chicken Little won’t help with you splat over the floor and walls
But I’m chose to ball it didn’t just choose me
I’ll never take the blame; it was my fault, never the plea
Truthfully I’m what these rappers wish they could be
It’s not a superior complex when you prove it in your city
I will give you everything 100% times fifty

Kidd jumps to the back of the stage where the DJ is as he wipes the sweat from his brow. He knows that is will be his last song so he decided to end with the Party song and told the DJ to play the music to it. “I know y’all aren’t tired. Cause I don’t know about you but we came to party. If you came to party than let me here it,” he put his cups hand to his left ear and pointed it to the crowd. “Nah, nah, nah, I don’t think you heard me. I said if you came here to party, then let me hear it” he waved his arms up to get them to scream louder. “Well than that what we came to fucking do, DJ Drop that!”

(Here to party Live)
Niggas we up here to bang on yours speakers
With the bass so loud you would think you hearing creatures
We’re all here to party so you know I’m about to wild out
Anybody have a problem, they better guard their mouth
I be Smoking on some herbs that will have you feeling spiritual
You know it isn’t fun when damage is only minimal
Looking for some bad bitches to do all the good shit
We only here for the fun not looking to commit
My rhymes are so legit that others have to rage quit (Hell yea)
The showstopper that’s why they call me HBK
Trying to have all my competition blown away
Handcuff your girl cause I can swindle, Huckle fin
Need some music and drinks so the fun can begin
Ya’ll know who this is so I’m not about to mention
Here in the Vegas Festival I know got everyone’s attention
Soon as this song come on you better drop that
Cds coming soon you know you need to cop that…

(chorus)
Oh mercy me, got the weed and the liquor to work out for me
And Oh what a night, girls and music that going to make it right
So drop that, beat, bass, brass, ass, just dance, (dance) Dance (dance) Dance
So drop that, beat, bass, brass, ass, just dance, (dance) Dance (dance) Dance

(Verse 2)
Niggas I’m crazy riding on some 8 balls
These girls wanted a wish so they blew on my dragon balls
Boy I’m nasty infected, call the CDC
Otherwise nine out of ten people are to getting me
Faded like a ghost never going to the afterlife
Let me tell you haters bark more then they bite
Young money getting rich frosty ain’t I great
Working this hard i put the time in late
While you’re favorite rapper is a minute or two early, man
Leave he is ass with a red top call him Shirley, man
See how he so emotional mood swings girly
Spread him with those guns and now he's out worldly
Leave your girl with me she form white mouth thirsty
Sprite soon she tell them other boys to take a hike
This is man game so why these boys trying play
Kidd is on the real that why they want me to stay and say
Oh mercy me, got the weed and the liquor to work out for me
And Oh what a night, girls and music that going to make it right
So drop that, beat, bass, brass, ass, just dance, (dance) Dance (dance) Dance
So drop that, beat, bass, brass, ass, just dance, (dance) Dance (dance) Dance

“My name is Kidd Amaze that was my cool slick DJ Disaster on the turntable, thank you for listening that my time, enjoy the rest of the festival,” He then bows and turns to his DJ “DJ Turn Up!” He then lets the DJ scratch and skip on the Drop that beat as Kidd dances for a little while before heading back stage.

An hour after Kidd Amaze's performance at the festival, it just about time for Sonyae - arguably one of the hottest new hip-hop acts - to perform. The 'Vegas Rock Festival 2013' was the first festival that Sonyae was ever taking part in. Before, she was performing live at small venues and that was just a year ago. Only now, she's starting to perform at large venues such as the stage she was about to hit.

It was approximately 5 minutes until Sonyae's performance would begin. She was backstage and even there, she heard the screams and cheers of the thousands of people that came out to see their favorite stars in music. In a way, she was both very nervous and anxious yet excited knowing that she was about to go on stage.
It was then 3 minutes in until she was due to hit the stage. She had just stepped out of her dressing room with her manager and hypeman Safaree. She turned to them as the walked towards the backstage area. "Safaree, I'm about to perform! I'm about to perform! I don't wanna go." In Safaree's best effort, he tried to comfort her and tell her that everything would be okay. Some of the producers that were set to film her performance tried to comfort her a bit as well. She stood still and quietly and listened to the chants of the people. She though to herself: who are they chanting for? Me? Do they even know who Sonyae is?
When the clock hit 4, she knew it was time. She had to fight off her nervousness and conquer her fears. It was finally time.

The Performance

It was finally time for Sonyae to perform. After a minute of one of the organizers' short speech about Sonyae, her name was finally announced. The members of the audience began to cheer in anticipation. The lights in the arena dimmed and smoke began to appear on the main stage. A bright light was then turned on on the stage and Sonyae slowly arose from below the main stage and onto the stage. The crowd began to cheer and Sonyae's dancers began to appear on the stage after different colored bright lights began to center the stage.
"Vegas, are you ready," Sonyae asked the crowd. The crowd cheered in response. "Are ya bloodclot ready VEGAS!", she asked once more. "I can't hear you!" The crowd began to cheer louder. This proved that Sonyae didn't have a hard time with hyping up the crowd. Rapping slowly, she began to recite the lyrics to her song 'Bordeaux' that was released not too long ago and has peaked at number two and three on the charts thus far. "I-I-I-I-I-I! I don't pop molly I pop open my fuckin' bordeaux! My-my-my-my-my!" Sonyae and all of her backup dancers then began walking to the center of the stage in a catwalk. The music for 'Bordeaux' began playing and the crowd started to cheer.

Briefly after she finished performing her song 'Bordeaux', she gave a short speech to the audience. She was truly humble by how the crowd were chanting for her and for having the opportunity to perform as the first female rapper ever to take the stage at the event. She was truly humble.

"You guys, I just wanna thank you guys all s much.
I'm so humble to be hear performing as a female rapper.
I always dreamed of performing at a festival like this one.
Because of you all going out and getting 'Bordeaux' and 'Alive', the organizers of this event recognized me!
Thank you all so much! Now DJ, run that shit!"

Cheat (Remix)/ Friday Night (Remix)

After Sonyae's speech, the lights on the stage dimmed once more before Sonyae appeared on stage wearing a different colored wig with the same style as before. he song 'Cheat' by Barbarian started to play. It was the song that she was recently featured on and the song has received rave reviews from fans and critics - including the likes of pop icon Vanity who complimented both Barbarian and Sonyae's vocals. Soon after she performed her vocals of the song, she sang Barbarian's part a little before getting straight into the other song that she was recently featured on titled 'Friday Night' by The Dolls. The remix song has also garnered positive reviews from fans and critics.

Your girl cheat since you cheat her pussy out, left her unsatisfied
So she had to let you know, maybe now you'll abide
All those nights you been occupied, she just had to come alive
It was a matter of time that you learned, can't even be justified
I'm with the kid, I'm not for cheatin', but needs are needs
You get dropped when you stop fulfilling her needs
Now you wanna drop to them knees, started to beg and plead
You gotta keep up with the speed, your chick been fled
You wanna own this soley then you gonna have to appreciate
Do I need to abbreviate? The taste of this pussy can never relate
You gon' have to learn the protocol if this is what you try to deviate
Treat ya lady right and she won't have to put you to the wait

It's a Friday night and I'm botta show you my wild side
Straight from Queens, yeah I'm reppin' southside
Ain't nothin' better than to get freaky on a Friday night
We gon' pour the drinks up and pull through to the morning light
Yeah we in this shit, entourage filled with only bad bitches
And boy I know a real bad bad bitch is what you've been missing
Walk up in this club and we got everyone lookin'
Shut this shit down, fire to this shit is what I am puttin'

The lap dance

Briefly after her performance of two songs that she featured on, Sonyae got the security guards to get a lucky fan at random to give a special lap dance too. Loud on the microphone, she demanded getting either one of her male or female Barb on stage to the security gurads. "Boy or girl, it don't matter! Get a Barb, she said loud and clear. She then started singing 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' to the female that was seated on a chair by her backup dancers.

I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

That's all they really want
Some fun
When the working day is done
Girls - they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun

Briefly after the one-minute lap dance, she took the lucky fan backstage and the audience members started cheering once more. A dark-themed type of music started playing and the audience began to cheer once more. Then, a minute later, Sonyae appeared on stage in the blonde wig that she had one before. She then previewed lyrics to her undisclosed title of one of the songs off of her upcoming album 'The Pinkprint'.

Mini-speech/Song Preview #2

"So guys, you want another preview?
You know, my album is coming out in one month and a day!
Ya heard? ONE month and a day. I hope you all can go out and get it.
Pre-order will be available tomorrow!"

I'm so optimistic and these hating ass hoes be so simplistic
Know when to hit 'em with the blows, I'm so logistic
Dominating ever ave, mami check the statistics
Winnings are consecutive, that's just a characteristic
Famed in the game for having that quick icy cold flow
My name's like a flame and it ain't gonna blow
Girls wear my name chains, I'm so influential
As the days fly by my empire does nothing but grow
Sheesus! I can't blame 'em for being so redundant
Shoe game poppin' at a fashion show out in London

Alive

Opting to end her performance with one of her most down-to-earth songs ever, the song 'Alive' began playing. 'Alive' was a song that was written by Sonyae and Drew Westbrook. Drew was the accompanying rapper on the song that wrote his verse solely. Upon it's release, the song has gotten rave reviews and although some would say that it wasn't as catchy as her promotional single 'Bordeaux', it would still go down in the books as a hip-hop classic. The song meant a lot to Sonyae and originally she was going to perform the song first. However, she decided only a week ago to perform the song last and end out her performance on with a down-to-earth single. Her fans enjoyed the track and so did the critics. After the song ended, she showed the crowd a 'peace' sign with her fingers and she disappeared into the smoke that reappeared on the stage.

I look at life as nothing but a prize, and tonight I just feel so alive
Look at me I'm winning now, survived through the lows and highs
I soar through with the wind, I'm with the moon and stars in the skies
Don't worry 'bout me and my empire, I get all that I desire
This is my empire and yes I'm only getting higher
Never gettin' tired, I spray that holy water pon all dem vampires

In this moment of my prize of life I'm killin' ish
Female king, so kiss my ring, I'm billin' shit
'Cos I'm blessed, yes, God is why I'm still gettin' it
And the reign won't stop, I'm still just in the beginnin' (yeah)
Yeah, yeah we gon' see all of this thing through
I swear to God man this ish ain't just come from the blue
When you work hard nonstop, look at what happens to you
I'm retiring with the crown, just in case you happened to have a clue
(Yeah, let's get it)

I wish that I can have this moment for ever, 'cos I feel so alive
I'm with the sun in the sky, you can see it in my eyes
I wish that I can live this feeling till I die,
This feeling of being alive. I feel alive, I'm alive
I wish that I can have this moment for life
(I wish that I can have this moment, I'm alive
I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive)

I wish that I can have this moment for ever, 'cos I feel so alive
I'm with the sun in the sky, you can see it in my eyes
I wish that I can live this feeling till I die,
This feeling of being alive. I feel alive, I'm alive
I wish that I can have this moment for life
(I wish that I can have this moment, I'm alive
I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive)

This is my moment where I just feel alive, distance is where I drive
As I drift away, I've become one with the sunset, I just feel alive
I wish that I can have this moment forever, forever, forever,
'Cos it's the moment where I just feel so alive, so alive, alive

I wish that I can have this moment for ever, 'cos I feel so alive
I'm with the sun in the sky, you can see it in my eyes
I wish that I can live this feeling till I die,
This feeling of being alive. I feel alive, I'm alive
I wish that I can have this moment for life
(I wish that I can have this moment, I'm alive
I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive)

Fathers of Fury, Live at the Vegas Rocks Festival, 2nd November 2013

The crowds are silent. The stage is so dark that not even the silhouettes of the band can be seen as they move around and get into the correct positions. The crowd is so quiet that even the quiet footsteps of Jack Straw can be heard as he steps up to the microphone. A deep breath is heard and then the speakers erupt as Jack screams the first vocals, as he starts the lights start to strobe.

I WILL NEVER FORGET
BUT I WILL TRY TO FORGIVE
NOW I STRUGGLE TO BREATH
I NEED TO REMEMBER HOW TO LIVE

The guitars are heavy and thrash as an insanely hard and fast drum beat crashes through, leading the song forwards. It is the heaviest start to a song that Fathers of Fury have ever written, with them never really having done a real scream part to a song. Jack’s vocals are very harsh and certainly surprised all of the die-hard Fathers of Fury fans from the two first albums, but everybody in the audience appears to be enjoying how the song has started. After the screams subside, Ollie King starts to sing. His vocals appear to have drastically improved since the band stopped performing after the release of their second album.

“How am I supposed to live in a world like this?
When everywhere I look, I can see him,
I don’t want to go crazy thinking about you,
But it’s difficult; I could’ve handled the truth,
You strung me along, and for that I’m distraught,
But now to rebuild the life you’ve destroyed…”

The verse finishes and Jack steps back up to the microphone and bellows the chorus out to the fans, who are all getting very into this new material. The bass guitar stops as Jack lets go of it so he can grab the microphone with both of his hands, the pick sticking out between his forefinger and thumb as he leans forward towards the audience.

“I’ve lived my life to the full,
No regrets until this moment,
Seeing you with him has destroyed my trust,
Broken my heart and killed my love,
I need to remember how it was before,
Go back and remember how to live!”

As the final line of the chorus approaches, Ollie’s harmonies help to lift it slightly. Once the chorus is finished, Ollie steps to the front of the stage and leads the song with a fast guitar riff. He plucks and strums and leans back so that the people at the front can see the complex finger work he has come up with for the solo. The solo comes to and end and Freddie crashes his drum sticks into the cymbals three times, as soon as he has done that, Jack lets out a mighty roar and then starts into the chorus again. This time, both Ollie and Isaac join in with the vocals and half way through Jack stops singing them and starts screaming.

“I’ve lived my life to the full,
No regrets until this moment,
Seeing you with him has destroyed my trust, (DESTROYED MY TRUST)
Broken my heart and killed my love, (KILLED MY FUCKING LOVE)
I need to remember how it was before, (REMEMBER HOW IT WAS BEFORE)
Go back and remember how to live! (REMEMBER HOW TO LIVE!)”

The song finishes to an eruption of cheers from the audience. The guys look around and share glances with each other, Jack smiles at them all and quietly says under his breathe “We’re back!”

Culture Uncut Review

Once Fathers of Fury leave the stage, it doesn't take too long before the night's final act is ready, GirlSpice. Countdowns appear on screens either side of the stage, counting down from ten minutes, until it's showtime for pop's biggest girl group. It's been a while since GirlSpice were last seen at a festival, in fact, the girls haven't toured in over a year and it's a rare occasion these days when you get to see them all on stage. It was confirmed the girls won't be touring for their latest release, so the audience at Vegas Rocks are definitely a lucky bunch. Once the countdown ends, the lights suddenly shut off and the crowd burst into thundering roars of excitement. The atmosphere is electric to say the very least, and with the amount of people in the audience wearing GirlSpice merchandise, it's safe to say that this performance is highly anticipated. GirlSpice have always been a group to make an entrance, or more appropriately, make a scene when it comes to putting on a live show, and they make sure they kick off in style with a video introduction. The crowd once again scream excitedly, it's enough to burst anyone's eardrum, but it's hard to not get caught up in the moment. Being not the biggest GirlSpice fan, I can at least understand the hype around the ladies, and clearly there's plenty of that. The opening video shows close-ups of each GirlSpice member's eyes and legs, slowly panning across the row of girls, already teasing at the sight of them just in video-form. The camera slowly zooms out, until all four are seen on screen, and a huge 'GirlSpice' sign lights up just above them, before the video fades out. The video is then recreated as a large spotlight shines down onto the stage to show GirlSpice stood in the same position seen on the video, also wearing the same outfits, all seen in matching black leather dominatrix-style wear. The girls have never always been about the music and throw in choreography and raunchy stage outfits along the way, but for those who aren't fans of their music, perhaps more likely to the men in the audience, it's likely we can at the very least appreciate what they've dressed up in.

We suddenly hear the opening to "High Class" which is met with a great reception and it's no wonder, it's become the group's biggest hit in a while now, spending two weeks at the top of the charts. For a girl group who have been going so long, it's certainly an impressive achievement, and of course the Stephanie Fierce feature could only but help. Kimberly opens the song, arguably having one of the best voices in the group, and while it may not match-up to the ability of solo heavyweight Nadia Berry, she sure sounds impressive. The rest of the group sing two lines each to follow in the verse, from Chantal to Sophia to Nadia. It's almost like passing the baton, GirlSpice have always been a team effort and the group has never focused on just the one member, but what works with them is that they all have something to bring to the group. Nadia's an all-rounded performer with immense star quality. Kimberly has an impressive set of lungs and great energy on stage, carrying a great load of stage presence. Sophia's got the personality and a certain likable quality she brings to the group. While Chantal's a talented dancer with great rhythm, and clearly having a child hasn't taken any of that away from her when the girls walk forward from their entry pose and begin a dance routine for the chorus of "High Class", small bursts of fire constantly appearing behind them. They command the crowd's attention with ease, but with sexy outfits, entertaining choreography and pyrotechnics, that's not such a challenge. A medley of two GirlSpice favourites from albums Make a Scene and Night Rider follow, the empowering blend of "Moving On" and "I Don't Need You" goes down a treat with the crowd, topless male dancers rush out onto the stage for the medley and the group crawl and walk over them in style. We imagine the likes of Nadia Berry's heels digging into your bare back isn't the least painful thing in mind, but hey, it's Nadia Berry. After the male dancers are practically dominated for the performance, GirlSpice go a little easier on them for album track "Give Me What I Want" from their latest record, featuring a racy routine, which even at one moment saw Sophia attempting to twerk. To no success if I must add, as she sloppily ends up shaking her whole body, but it's a light-hearted moment in the show that received a lot of laughs and cheers.

The group rush off for a quick costume change and the dancers on stage are left to fill in the gap, performing a rather impressive routine to an extended intro of the hit "Morning Won't Come", also known as the first single to the diamond certified Night Rider. GirlSpice soon appear back on time, all seen in different coloured crop tops with black shorts and heels. The giant 'GS' logo seen used for their Video Music Awards performance is lifted from underneath the stage, and the girls use it to climb over seductively throughout the performance with their dancers, which goes down a storm with the crowd. Energetic numbers "Kiss Me", "Dirty Mouth" and "Danger" follow, featuring high-energy routines with a giant group of all-female dancers, here is where I start to hear the wolf-whistles from various male festival-goers, who I imagine enjoyed the sight more than the music blasting out. Still, it's pretty impressive how the girls keep up with the routines while singing along live, sure, they sound tired at moments and there's a backing track to help them along the way, but it never drowns them out and their live vocals are well heard. The group caused controversy a few years back for an extremely sexual performance of album track "Honey" taken from Resurrection, an R&B slow-jam that shows the group and their voices in a different light, where literal honey poured over their semi-naked bodies and the group proceeded to lick it off of each other. Unfortunately, the girls decided not to replicate that performance, instead opting to perform an acoustic version of the track in stylish black jumpsuits, as Nadia pulls her acoustic guitar out to perform the song. The girls sit at stools with their microphone stands placed in front of them, they still sound slightly out of breath from their heavy choreography, but manage to pull the performance off.

It doesn't take too long for things to speed back up again though, a rock medley follows of experimental tracks "Soul to Sell", "Xplode" and "Drop the Bomb". Never ones to fear taking a risk, the special connection between all three songs is that each features an iconic metal band, Blood of Wecz, Aerospliff and Thunderwolf. They're unique tracks in GirlSpice's discography and will likely go down in music history as some of the most unlikely collaborations to happen, but GirlSpice fully embrace that fact. They stand behind their mic stands as a live band adds the heavier rock sound for the medley, a lot of men in the crowd are seen bopping their heads along, clearly the collab risks paid off, as the songs have expanded GirlSpice's audience like no other. Their vocals soar over the near-dominating electric guitars in the set, the girls aren't always able to pull this sound off live, especially for the likes of Chantal and Sophia, whose vocals are a little too on the softer side, perhaps Kimberly and Nadia's microphones were just turned up a tad for this performance, as they manage perfectly fine. An odd-ball gets thrown in straight after as they go for a cover of the Eurhythmics' "Sweet Dreams", keeping the rock element from the previous medley so it's more along the lines of the Marilyn Manson cover of the track. They hold their microphones out to get the crowd to sing along, it's a big moment in their set and from the looks of things, it goes down exceptionally well with the audience, who shout the lyrics back fiercely. At this stage, it seems the girls have fully recovered from their full-out routines and begin a more mid-tempo section within their set, the live band remain on stage with the girls and move into album track "Until We Meet Again", the last song on the track listing for Make a Scene. It's a more simplistic moment in their performance where the focus is put on their vocals, with everything else that goes on within their show, it's easy to forget that GirlSpice can actually sing, which they prove with the live rendition of the song. "Never Let Me Go" and "Invisible" follow, two highlights in their set as the back stage doors part to reveal an orchestra that begin to play the opening to the track. Long strings of pure white curtain descend from the ceiling, and daring male and female dancers climb to the top of them and begin romantic movements by twisting around each other sensually as GirlSpice sing with the orchestral backing, it's a more elegant moment in their show and looks stunning on stage.

With the night about to close to an end, the whole stage clears and the lights dim again, some even begin to leave thinking it's the end of the set. However, eager GirlSpice fans know there's one hit the girls haven't performed yet, that being "Rebel", and decide to stick it out until the encore. Bright pink lights suddenly illuminate, and GirlSpice rise from underneath the stage with a troop of male dancers, the girls seen in different coloured mini dresses. Kimberly excitedly asks the crowd if there's any rebels in the house as she gets the crowd screaming, it's a fitting question coming from GirlSpice's rebellious party-girl. The hard-hitting synths in the song suddenly play, the audience going wild again, and the group and their dancers energetically move around the stage from one end to the other, holding their microphones out to get the crowd all singing along in unison. It's performances like these where you see just how passionate their fans are, and the ladies themselves look more than taken aback by the reception they get. For the chorus, they pull out their final dance routine of the night, clearly using every little bit of energy they've got left to put on a show-stopping performance, colourful fireworks exploding around them while they dance. For the end of the song, glitter cannons explode glitter over the audience and the girls all drop to the floor as the music ends suddenly, the whole crowd erupting into applause. The stay frozen in position for a short moment before standing, all four taking a bow and thanking the crowd before rushing off stage. Clearly the girls are still passionate performers despite how long they've been in the industry. That's never been taken away from them. And they sure put on one hell of a pop show for the crowd on the night, the fans seemed head over heels in love with them, and for those like myself watching with no preconceptions, it was thoroughly entertaining.

HIT: Top-notch dancing, impressive live vocals, elaborate staging
MISS: Lack of fan interaction, numerous dull breaks for costume changes
