Inhumane is the first extended play (EP) by up-and-coming American recording artist Allison Cooper . It was released on April 20th , 2014 by Allison Cooper herself . Initially planned to be included on her debut album , Cooper announced that the five tracks would be included on a standalone release , saying that she recently started working with someone on the album which caused the whole sound to be switched up and that the songs were each productionally different , describing them as yin and yang respectively .

Musically, Inhumane is a synthpop extended play with lyrics that are influenced by a number of events that have happened to Allison in the past and also songs from just pure "imagination" . According to Allison Cooper , the EP is based on "old fashion revenge" . With songs like "Inhumane" and "Heaven" , the EP shows just that as she sings twisted lyrics about finally killing the person who caused her the most pain through her life but at the same time the EP seems to have a more emotional meaning with the song "White Lies" and then even a little mix of both in the song "Change of Heart" . Though still many believe that the extended play is based solely on personal experience and twisted desires , knowing about Allison's battle with mental illness and her broken childhood . Her therapists , Dietz Von Schmidt , also fears this as well due to the many references included throughout the songs . Allison responded by talking more about what exactly the EP means to her .

"I knew shallow-minded fucks would say something like that . To be honest , that was the whole aim of this project . I guess I'm labeled mentally ill or some shit and because of that everyone thinks I am some psychotic bitch and that I'm a "danger to society" and blah . That really works my nerves because I'm not . But since that's what I'm labeled , that's all people see me as . So when I wrote songs like these , I purposely made them sound crazy , mocking everyone's stereotypical mentally ill person just to give everyone what they wanted . That's what they want to see right ? A psychotic bitch ? Well there you have it ." -Allison Cooper

Cooper says that work on the 5 songs dates back to 2010 . " I started writing a whole bunch of songs when I was 15-16 so I don't know . I'm pretty sure at least one of these were written back then or grew from a song I written from that time . " It features production from inZane and NinaT . Allison Cooper's debut single was "Cigarette" , a laid back indie pop and dream pop song which somehow implied to fans that Allison was going to be an indie singer , so when news about the EP came out and it presented to us the Synthpop side of Allison , many were surprised . Though when she's singing indie , her voice can be compared to that of indie folk/rock/pop singer Yasmine Kiambang , her voice managed to remind us of Glamazon .

Lewis Corner of Digital Spy noted that "a dark and electro-gothic soundscape flirts with Coopers' metaphor-strewn lyrics and humorous quips" , which are best showcased in "Inhumane" ". He continued: "Each moment of pop surreality flourishes from Coopers' own vision , then is finely tailored by some of the industry's most respected figures—the result as exciting as it is completely bonkers ." British magazine Star viewed the album as "if you're ever looking for some good psychotic music with that perfect dose of pop and electric rock , you won't have to look further " .

Billboard had a positive response , saying: "One might help but feel that Allison has sold out to producers and record executives in order to make her sound like ‘the next big thing’ . Our response ? She has only had ONE single out . Just because that single happened to be indie pop and didn't chart higher than #16 in the top 20 does not mean anything . Throughout the whole EP , Cooper's vision shines through spectacularly . Inhumane is definitely the type of EP that is easy to listen to without skipping a track ."
