MANDY WILLIAMS - "TEENAGERS" [12/15/13] At one point in time is seemed that only greatness was destined for the fresh faced, teenaged pop star Mandy Williams. The Florida born brunette possessed everything that would be perfect for a chart topping certified superstar. The looks, the voice, the performance skills and especially the personality. This came as no surprise when Mandy arrived on the scene in late 2011 where other young stars were already continuing to own the music industry. Mandy quickly made a name for herself as one of those stars, releasing a chain of singles that were supposedly suppose to appear on the stars debut album. After her debut single in, "I Don't Care" which reached the top 5 on the charts, Mandy also released singles "Break Through", "Angelic", "Falling Behind" and had also released a few more later on. After leaving her first record label, Shooting Star Records, the popular singer was quickly signed to Studio60 which happened to be one of the biggest labels after Shooting Star Records went out of business. Mandy had released a few singles there too. But still, there was no album, even with the backing of a large label behind her. It seemed that Mandy had all the gits and gadgets to release a successful album, especially after her hit single and official first single from the album in "Devil In Disguise" which featured massively talented rapper, Foxxxy. After her anxious fans demanded answers, Mandy openly explained that she was struggling to release an album. She stated that she made two attempts but ended up scrapping both due to the lack of happiness in the record due to her being a perfectionist, but was that the only reason why ?
Aside from trying to focus on an album, Mandy's personal life was also getting the best of her. Any true Mandy Williams fan would know that although the smiles that you might've seen when she was on stage or on T.V, was not always her demeanor when the cameras were away. Mandy experienced a tough childhood life, having lost her mother at just the very young age of 8 to a car accident, she also dealt with issues involving her father. Mandy's father was an alcoholic and throughout most of Mandy's childhood and teenage years she was fighting a losing battle against an addict, and when Mandy had enough of it all, she distanced herself totally from her father. After a few years of not speaking to him, it has come to our attention that Mandy needed to take even more time off from music to mend her relationship with her father, who has looked to fix up their relationship and get clean. After pictures of Mandy and her father surfaced on the internet some months ago, which sent fans into a frenzy of unhappiness citing that her father is no good for her. Mandy took to twitter to ease her fans and explained that a father and daughter can go through rough times and still find a way to come together and fix their problems. This obviously took some time, and therefore the record had to be pushed back even more so. On the bright side, it's great to see Mandy has fixed something that means a lot to any young women's life, which is her relationship with her father. Sometimes celebrities need to focus on fixing the demons of their past before it comes back to haunt them. So now where does that leave us?
Now that it's the ending of 2013, which has become a very interesting year for pop music, and music in general. The days where it was easy to comeback and start where you ended off seems to be much harder than it once was. With urban music owning the charts, and returning stars trying to make a name for themselves once more, how will Mandy fair amongst it all? With a large anticipating still behind her, Mandy announced in September of 2013 that the album was almost 100% finished. She even gave us a snippet of what we are hearing today, which is her newest single "Teenagers" which will spearhead her new album that will be released in early 2014. After releasing just a 10 second clip of the "Teenagers", her fans automatically got largely excited over the snippet. It didn't sound like anything Mandy has released before, and now that she is 19, we can assume that her music won't be as bubble gum as it was when she first appeared just turning 17 years old. What we are excited to see is Mandy grow from the day we first heard her sing. Can Mandy get back on her A game is the question, and you listeners, are the ones to answer. "Teenagers" hits stores on the 15th. Release Date: 12/15/13 [Digital Download/Radio Airplay] Label: Studio 60 Genre: Dance Pop, Electro Pop, Trap Songwriters: Mandy Williams Producers: The Wolverines, Mike Del Rio
TRACK OVERVIEW
"Teenagers" is the newest single to be released from pop singer, Mandy Williams. This single will serve as the second official single taken from her long awaited debut album "The Teenage Years" which is slated to be released in January of 2014. Teenagers was recorded in 2013 with production duo The Wolverines, along with the help of Mike Del Rio and was written by Mandy Williams. Unlike many of Mandy's previous singles, Teenagers takes a more edgy approach but not straying too far from what we are exactly we are used to from Williams, but this isn't exactly of the soft teen pop records we heard from Mandy when she first came onto the scene. Just turning 19 in last month, we can only imagine that Mandy wants to live out her last year as a teenager to the fullest. Teenagers is an empowering record for all teenagers around the world, it hints at rebellion and encourages all the young people to be themselves no matter who and what someone is telling you, but to live young for as long as you want. Don't listen to people who judge you, or people who try to bring you down, just be who you are. No matter whether you are a wild child or not, Mandy insists it's how you were born. This record will most certainly serve as a young people anthem, and I don't know if parents will be too thrilled. This is the type of record I wouldn't be surprised hearing blasting across all the Project X-esque parties around the globe.
The track is a colossally catchy from the time is starts. With Mandy yelling out "Teenagers...we don't play" over clapping instrumentals. After repeating the lines and really catching the listeners attention, a soaring synth is heard building up an anticipating for a drop and out of nowhere the song breaks into an EDM, club ready trap infused break down that could easily get te listener moving their body. Slighly different from the pop records on the radio right now, "Teenagers" beats are built around police sirens and doesn't contain the verse, chorus, verse, bridge set up. Aside from it's quite risqué lyrics, the track is mainly set around the hook where Mandy roars: Teenagers...we don't play Teenagers...we don't play| Teenagers...we don't play |Cause we got it like that |Kiss who we want cause it's okay| They don't know and we won't say |Break curfew yeah it's okay| Be who we want, yeah we roleplay |Cause we got it like that ;;; - and the trap breakdown where Mandy yells out "Teenagers!.....Stand On Up!". After that part, the beats calm down and Mandy's infectious vocals take over the beat where she sings about being care free, and a daring teenager. Older people, we know you wish you were a teenager again. We know.
Mandy's Words Yaaaaay! No one knows exactly how excited I am for this. The last time I felt this excited was well... a really long time. I love this song, it makes me so proud to be a teenager and even though I just turned 19, I am still a teenager and when I turn 20.. I'll still be a teenager at heart. I wrote this song because going through my teenage years I felt that I was always either being judged or being held in. But in all actuality, us as teenagers, we don't play. We should do whatever we want and love life to the very fullest. I feel like too many teenagers are being judged and arent being themselves because of other people but really being a teenager is the coolest thing in the world. You're not a baby and stuff, and you're not old. You're right in the middle and you should be able to really live during this time. I've got one more year as a teenager and I will live it to the fullest. I love how the record sounds, it just makes me pumped and it makes me want to party and I know my fans will love this. I love this song just as much as I love chocolate chip cookies so you know it must be great, and I do not say stuff like that often hehe. It soo good to be back and doing what I love the most. I can't wait to I release my album next month, I promise my amazing fans, I hope you love teenagers, enjoy <333 - Mandy
