Airplay Chart Run:LyricsI sit and wait for the right time,
The time to tell her how I truly feel,
I've waited hours, but they feel like years,
Just to see her once again, and tell her how I feel!
But time moves on, and so must we,
Moving forwards so that we both can be free,
But I can't go, not without you!
Because darling, darling I want to marry you!
Just say yes,
Fulfil my wildest dreams,
Just say yes,
You belong with me,
Don't ever go!
Do not leave me behind,
Just say yes,
Oh please girl, please be mine!
Another day comes, another day goes,
They all merge into one, because I'm on my own!
I need you in my life,
I need you to be my wife!
Just say yes,
Fulfil my wildest dreams,
Just say yes,
You belong with me,
Don't ever go!
Do not leave me behind,
Just say yes,
Oh please girl, please be mine!
Darling, I've tried, to move on with my life,
But I cannot, no I cannot go on without you,
Darling, I've cried, over what's gone from my life,
But I cannot, no I cannot go on without you,
I nearly died, when I lost you from my life!
Because I cannot go on another day without you!
Just say yes,
Just say yes,
Don't ever go!
Just say yes,
Just say yes,
Fulfil my wildest dreams,
Just say yes,
You belong with me,
Don't ever go!
Do not leave me behind,
Just say yes,
Oh please girl, please be mine!
DescriptionA violin and piano both gently arise from a silent beginning and the two instruments are all that can be heard for a full 40 seconds. After the 40 second introduction, Sammy breathes the first line of the song. It is soft and sensual, and allows the listener to instantly connect; this is a very common theme in Sammy’s songs. As the verse progresses, Sammy’s whispered vocals gradually grow slightly louder. A fast strummed acoustic guitar cuts in and it helps to support Sammy’s beautifully crafted voice.
The piano tune takes the lead and merges into the acoustic guitar fantastic, the violin and a harmonica are now only background noises over the light steady drum beat as the first chorus begins. Sammy’s vocals grow louder and become more assertive and passionate, as if he needs the lady he is asking to say yes to actually be his wife. The vocals are layered on the chorus to give the song something more to it, also making it sound like Sammy is harmonising with himself.
The second verse is much shorter than the first, but goes along very similar lines to the first. Sammy’s vocals are much quieter again, although they are louder than the whispered start of the previous verse. The violin is more prominent in the verse again now, and it helps to give the song a more romantic and loving feel.
The second chorus goes much the same as the first, and then it leads into the third verse. This third verse is much more powerful than the previous two and Sammy highlights how powerful his vocals can actually be, this song really allows him to show off his vocal range as well as allowing him to show off his ability with various instruments. The final chorus is an extended version of the other chorus’, and eventually fades out so that Sammy can sing the final two lines over just the violin and piano like the song started, his voice finishing on no more than a whisper again.
