Everything's Fine
A new Starz original series

Format: Mockumentary, comedy-drama
Writers: Astra Thivierge, Reza Vranitzky
Producers: Astra Thivierge, Reza Vranitzky
Director: Astra Thivierge
Episodes: 8
Runtime: 60 minutes

The show focuses on a group of twenty-somethings who have been chosen to be the topic of a documentary about college students in San Jose.

The series follows six very different characters and their struggles throughout college and their relationships. The "documentary" focuses mostly on Ronan, a film studies major who has moved in with two chaotic, female friends - Delilah and Molly - in an attempt to save on rent, but finds that the apartment is in disrepair from both the laziness of the girls, and from a young landlord - Leo - who is more interested in Delilah than in actually fixing the apartment that they live in.

Of course, there are other people in the trios life, like Adam, Molly's rich boyfriend who is having second thoughts about their hectic, dependent relationship. And Emily, the Coldstone Creamery worker that Ronan has a crush on, but who has some secret problems of her own that the film crew explores with her. All of the characters have their own issues, and each of them have to decide whether is better to share their problems with the rest of the group, or deal with them in silence. And whatever their decisions is, they then have to deal with how their choices effect the rest of the group of friends.

The show was written and produced by Belgian-French actress Astra Thivierge - who is also directing the series - and Reza Vranitzky - the Austrian writer who formally has only been known for her song writing ability. The two met a few years ago when Vranitzky was vacationing in Belgium, and reportedly came up with the idea for the show that night after a few drinks. They originally wrote the script for a German-speaking audience, with the main characters being in their early-thirties and living together. The show was called Zimmergenosse and it ran for one twelve episode season before it was cancelled for low ratings. After that devastating blow to their work, the pair decided to put their writing on the back-burner for a while until they could come up with some fresh ideas. It wasn't until early-2013 that they decided to rewrite Zimmergenosse.

This time the pair decided to make the main cast a younger crew and write for an English-speaking audience. The women felt that the only way to combat the same struggles that they had last time was for them to write and produce the show themselves, giving them full creative rights over the program rather than handing their ideas over to a group of writers and producers, as they did with Zimmergenosse. They changed the name of the show to Everything's Fine - a name meant to seem satirical because of how many problems each character in the show has - and set the show in San Jose, California - instead of originally Berlin. Both Thivierge and Vranitzky have a lot of hope for the project and pray it does much better than it's original counterpart.

Characters

Ronan Rabenstein
Ronan is the main protagonist of the show, and the main subject of the documentary being filmed in the show. He's a film studies major at San Jose State University, and is huge movie buff - he even works in a movie theatre. When the show begins, he has recently moved in with his friends, Delilah and Molly, in their almost-dilapidated apartment building. He's a very sweet guy, but a little awkward, and always seems to be the butt of the joke with his friends. He has a crush on the girl who works at the ice cream shop, Emily, but has apparently spent several weeks only talking to her, never getting up the courage to actually ask her out.

Delilah Laughlin
Delilah is one of Ronan's roommates. She's a fashion design major at San Jose City College, and describes that as her one major passion. Most people treat her like she's their younger sister because of her naivety towards men and relationships. Her constant fights with her roommate, Molly, are usually the cause of every problem in the house, but her and Molly are - and will always be - best friends, and will always stick up for each other. Delilah is probably the most well-adjusted person out of the group. She was a bit quiet in high school and has never gotten a lot of attention from men, so she can never tell when somebody is flirting with her or not. In her mind, everybody is a friend until they prove otherwise.

Molly Faulkner
Molly is Ronan's other roommate. She's a loud, outgoing, in-your-face sort of individual who has grown very dependent on her boyfriend's wealth and security. She's never worked and dropped out of high school when she was seventeen to start a band - which, obviously, didn't work out. She's a caring individual who loves being with her friends, but she does come off as selfish occasionally and will never put herself in a situation where she feels uncomfortable or cheated in any way - even if it's for Ronan or Delilah. She's the type of person who is still partying long after all the bars have closed and everybody else wants to go to bed.

Adam Aldaine
Adam is Molly's boyfriend, and friends with Delilah and Ronan. His parents died when he was eighteen in a car accident, leaving him with a sizable inheritance, which he uses to pay Molly's part of the rent and anything else that she might want. He used to fit into Molly's party lifestyle when they first started dating, but now he's started to become more and more mature and tired of the chaotic life that Molly has formed around her. He's been secretly cheating on Molly on-and-off with a girl named Clara who works with Emily at Coldstone Creamery.

Emily Searle
Emily works at the Coldstone Creamery that the roommate trio often visits, and is Ronan's crush for most of the first season. She's quiet and shy, the type of girl that you would find reading William Faulkner in a coffee shop on any given Thursday night. Her mother is dying of pancreatic cancer and Emily has had to quit school and work full-time to take care of her and attempt to pay off the medical bills. She has no idea that Ronan has a crush on her.

Leo Sedgwick
The roommates' young landlord. Leo's father owns the apartment that the roommates live in, and has been put Leo in charge of the building to "teach him about business." He's a sweet guy, never angry when the roommates are late on their rent and is always willing to come right over if something breaks. The roommates think that it's just because Leo is a nice person, but in reality, it's because Leo has a crush on Delilah. Nobody but Ronan seems to notice this crush and constantly tries to help Leo out with it as much as he can.

Clara Oswald
Clara is another Coldstone Creamery employee with Emily, and is also the woman that Adam is cheating on Molly with. She and Molly were friends in high school before Molly dropped out and found out that Clara had only been friends with Molly the entire time to try to get closer to Molly's high school boyfriend. Now in college, Clara is back to snag Adam away from her. She's cold and indifferent to the suffering that she's inflicting on Molly and the rest of the roommates in the house, but obviously does have another softer side to her that has attracted Adam. Every moment is a competition for Clara, and she will do anything to win.

Auditioning for Character:
Comments/Suggestions/Concerns:

OOC: All the characters are in their early to mid-twenties, so make sure your characters are around those ages as well. And if you have any suggestions or questions or anything, please let me know. PM me your responses using the template above, and we can get this started! :) There will be several smaller characters that I will put up a casting call for before each episode, but these are the main characters that will be in almost every episode of the show and I wanted to get them cast first. Also, I am painfully bad at graphics or anything having to do with Photoshop, so if anybody who is adept - or really, anybody who is better than me - at making promo posters for the show and such would like to help me, that would be fantastic.

Reza Vranitzky and Astra Thivierge's apartment was sparse and filled with Chinese food containers. Neither women seemed to notice or mind that fact at all. In fact, they seemed to care about very little in the time before the interview begun. The two women chatted in French with each other, occasionally laughing and lightly touching each other's shoulder - in the way that good friends do - before they finally turned to me and asked if I was ready for the interview to begin. I had hardly even begun to set up. They two women were so enchanting, it was difficult for me to focus on anything else, even when all they were doing were speaking to each other in a language that I didn't even begin to understand. The way they held themselves, the way they spoke and gestured, the way they looked at each other and then back at me. I felt as though I were watching a scene from a movie - they both seemed so relaxed and genuine in everything they did. Astra Thivierge - the Belgian-French actress and director - I had met before, although I doubt she would remember. It had been such a quick passing - just a few questions and then she was whisked away by some manager or PR representative. This had been when she had just started acting a few years before, when she was sixteen. Reza Vranitzky, however, I had never heard of before talk of Everything's Fine began circling around the world, although her resume was vast and expansive. Reza had written and produced for several artists, indie folk vocalists Carmen Grant and Evangeline Wolfe being two of the bigger names. She had also done some writing for television as well, writing several episodes of different shows in her native country of Austria, such as German soap opera Sie Bleiben Fast Getötet, and French drama Que Ce Soit. But how did these two women come to meet and create Everything's Fine, a show with so much potential and hype behind it? I was here to receive and share those answers with everybody. As I took my seat on the couch across from the one Reza and Astra were sitting on, we began.

Well, ladies, thank you for taking the time to sit down with me so we can talk about these ambition plans. I think it's pretty easy to make the accusation that you're planning on taking the world by storm pretty soon.

UserPostedImage
(Reza Vranitzky)

Oh, I wouldn't say we're trying to take the world by storm, love. More just trying to make our mark on it.

UserPostedImage
(Astra Thivierge)

Like the way a meteorite makes it's mark on the world. (both women laugh)

Alright, alright... Take me back to the beginning then. Take me to the moment one of you said, 'Let's make a TV show.'

Alright. It was 2011--

Oh, god, it was. I was only twenty... And you were-- oh man.

Yeah, I was only seventeen at the time. Pretty weird. (they laugh) I was living in Antwerp because I was working on a movie - Törichte - that took place there when I met Reza at a bar...

That's right. And we just sort of... hit it off. (giggles) We met, drank a little--

A lot. We drank a lot.

Yeah, a lot... and somehow we got off on the topic of things that we really wanted to do with our lives. I already knew who she was because I was a fan of a lot of her movies, but then she started telling me that she really wanted to write movies and television, and that was her real dream. And I had been writing for years already - since I was seventeen, in fact. Not professionally then, of course - not at the caliber that I am now - but I had always been interested in writing and when she told me that, it was like a light bulb went off in my head. It was right there at the bar that we came up with the idea for our television show.

We wrote down all the ideas on one of those thin bar napkins.

Yes! I still have the napkin! It's in my apartment in Leoben.

Alright. So you meet, you have this idea for a television show... then what?

I was very good friends with a man who worked in television at the time, and we got him to let us pitch him our idea. It just went from there.

And that's how Zimmergenosse started?

Exactly how. It ran for one season - twelve episodes - and then they pulled the plug. (she lets out a small laugh)

That must have been rough.

It was, but... not as bad as you'd think.

We realized right before we found out that we were going to get cancelled that the show wasn't going in the direction that we wanted it to go in. Zimmergenosse was different than Everything's Fine. The cast of characters were older, the show was a bit lighter, it ran in a sitcom-style format. We thought we were making something really funny, but it actually just looked like a train wreck. So when it got cancelled, it was upsetting, but we knew it was probably for the best.

Alright. So you have one show that gets cancelled, you're back to square one. Then what?

Honestly, then, we took a break.

Yeah. We really didn't even talk about writing together again until early 2013.

What did you do between that time?

I went back to writing music. I worked with some pretty great people, got some experience, made some connections. Even wrote a little bit for television here and there. Nothing big, but everything counts.

And you, Astra?

I did a couple of indie movies. One of them, Dénudé was nominated for a César Award. The other one was Mauvaise Voie, starring Vincent Cassel. Both were great experiences. I grew a lot professionally with them.

So when did the idea to rehash Zimmergenosse start?

Reza was the one who first started the conversation. She called me one day and said, "I was just looking at this old napkin... I think we could make this work if we tried it again."

She didn't want to at first.

No, I really didn't. I told her, "We already tried, and we saw what happened. The German stations didn't like us."

And I said, "Then we just won't take it to the German stations..." And after some talking, she agreed that we should give it one more shot.

It's hard to say no to Reza sometimes. She's very convincing.

It's one of my strengths.

What changes did you make to the show to make it into what Everything's Fine is now?

We started with the cast. Zimmergenosse's cast was mostly people in their early thirties, which was difficult for us to write for since we were both much younger than that. So we decided to make the cast younger - college students.

Write what you know, right?

Exactly.

We also made the show much heavier. In Zimmergenosse, the worst problem any of the characters dealt with was annoying in-laws or something along those lines. The characters in Everything's Fine deal with real issues, like death and addiction and things of that caliber. It's not all sad, but it's not all funny either. Like life.

Like life.

And the format? It's definitely not a sitcom anymore.

Hah, no. I don't think Starz would pick up a sitcom on their network.

We changed the format to a mockumentary type to give it more of a real feel. That was one problem that we were having with Zimmergenosse is that we constantly had to ask ourselves, "Is this something that could really happen, or is this just something that could only happen on television?" When we were writing for Everything's Fine, we were thinking realistically about the everything, so the writing process was much smoother than before.

Okay, so tell me about the casting process. You have a lot of big names in this show.

Yeah, we do. It was a little overwhelming originally, actually.

Really?

Oh, yeah. We were actually a little worried that the show itself would be overshadowed by all the big names in the credits.

We don't want people to think that the only reason why we cast certain people is because we needed their names to boost the legitimacy of the show. Their names do help, but that's not the reason why they're part of the show now. Every member of our cast has been supremely dedicated and fantastic with their roles. We genuinely love every one of them.

Tell me how you came down to these names exactly. Tell me about the auditions.

Some of the roles were a lot easier to cast than the others. Vara Gallo as Clara Oswald, for instance, was very easy. Reza and I both have been friends with Vara for a while, and when she auditioned for the role, both of us said, "Perfect!"

I hope she doesn't get angry by me saying this, but she really is perfect for the role of a manipulating, cheating bitch. (they both laugh)

We love you, Vara, but you have to admit it's true.

What about Nadia Berry? How did you decide that she should be cast?

When we were writing the rewrite, we had this Emily character who the main character - Ronan - has a crush on. When we were starting to flesh out this character in our writing, we said, "She's the girl next door with a dark past. The type of character that Nadia Berry could play."

You really said that?

We really did.

When Nadia stepped into the office for her audition, I actually grabbed Astra's hand and squeezed.

We wanted to tell her right there, "Don't even audition. You have the part," but that wouldn't have been fair... It wouldn't have mattered anyway, though, because she ended up being the best person in the end.

Alright. What about Ansley Bates and Veronica Carter for the roles of Delilah and Molly?

They were a surprise. Delilah and Molly were really hard for us to cast just because those are two characters that we really love, and we wanted to make sure that they were done right.

Right. We wanted to have the actors who played them already have a sort of sisterly bond, because that's a main part of the story is this friendship between Molly and Delilah, and how no matter how much they fight, they really do love each other and need each other.

We were auditioning the roles of Molly and Delilah on the same day. We had four areas blocked off: The audition room, the waiting room - where all the applicants waited to be called into the audition room - and then two spaces where we were sending all the people we liked for Molly, and all the people we liked for Delilah. Then we would bring in one girl for the Molly group and one girl from the Delilah group to audition together so we could see if they had that chemistry. We were still calling in women from the waiting room when Veronica Carter walked through the door. Astra, who is much more of a fashionista than me, immediately recognized Veronica and asked her, "Is Ansley out there?" Which, of course, she was so we auditioned them together right then.

They were perfect together. We actually stopped the auditions and sent everybody home after them. We couldn't imagine anybody else doing as well as they did.

Amazing. Now tell me about some of the male characters in the cast. What about Ethan Plyth?

When we were casting for Adam - the character than Ethan is playing - we really wanted somebody who had that 'good guy rocker' kind of look. We really had no plan to make Adam English before Ethan auditioned, but we liked Ethan as the character so much that we said, "No, that's perfect. Be British." We even rewrote some episodes specifically for this new character development.

Oh, yeah. The writing in Everything's Fine has been so flexible ever since the beginning. We told the cast members on the first day, "These scripts have lines on them, but you don't really need to say the lines word for word. If you feel like your character would say something else, or react a different way, then do it, and if we like it, then we'll keep it."

Some of the best moments in the show have been because the actors said, "Actually, I think my character would be more likely to do this..." and they were absolutely right. Like the way that Ethan said, "I think Adam would be better British." And he was right.

He didn't really say that... but the character is better British.

And what about Isaac Lovelock?

Leo was a tough role to cast, like Molly and Delilah were, just because it was a role that we really loved and really cared about. Isaac is--

Isaac is attractive. We like him with his facial hair.

God, we love the facial hair.

We're in love with his facial hair.

So he auditions, and then we brought him back to read with just Ansley - who had already been cast as Delilah at this point - and they had this really great, really awkward tension between each other.

We know that sounds weird, but it's true. We explained to them what the characters were like and how their relationship was - that Leo had a crush on Delilah, but was far too nervous to admit it, and that Delilah was oblivious to it - and they immediately knew how to react. The scene that they read was where Isaac is trying to be a little flirty with Delilah, and Delilah is unknowingly shooting him down every time, and it was so uncomfortable that Reza and I were literally grinding our teeth. That's when we knew they were perfect for the characters.

And, last but not least, your leading man, James Urie.

James was another huge surprise for us. His character, Ronan, is this gawky film studies major that can't manage to ask how the girl that he has a crush on no matter how many hints she drops that she wants to be asked out. Meanwhile, during the casting, James Urie is this hotshot rockstar who's married to Gemma Kane - easily one of the more attractive women on Earth - and just a super attractive guy.

Yeah, when he came into the audition office, I thought, "Okay, this is cool. James Urie is here. We get to meet him, take some pictures, let him audition, and then we'll tell him later that he just wasn't a good fit."

It's not that we thought that he would be a bad actor, or that we didn't like him. It's just that the character of Ronan is so geeky and awkward that we didn't think James would be able to pull it off. And even if he did pull it off, we didn't know if the audience would be able to see that transition between James and Ronan.

But when he read for Ronan... Wow.

He completely blew us away. For a moment, I totally forgot that he was James Urie, the rockstar, and really thought that he was Ronan Rabenstein, the San Jose State University student.

So you've finished filming, you're getting ready to air your first episode... what's the plan?

Well, before we air the first episode, we're going to do some more to jazz up the fans.

Right. We've started making short films - about five or six minutes long - that each focus on a different character in the show. So there's one for Ronan, one for Delilah, one for Molly... so on and so on. We're going to start posting those on our website in next few weeks so that the fans have a better feel for the characters and the show before the show actually starts.

Exactly. Then we'll put up the first fifteen minutes of the first episode on our website a week before the first episode airs, and then... it's showtime!

We're so ready.

The ladies left me some final remarks, telling me how great Starz had been to them as a network, and how much they already loved the things that fans were telling them about how excited they were for the show. It was hard for me to say my goodbyes to these two wonderful women, who had seemed so inviting immediately after meeting me. Their warmth and charming personalities had been so welcoming that I could now understand why not only they took so much pride in each other's accomplishments, but why we should as well. As I left, both ladies walked me to the door and gave me hugs before sending me off with delightful goodbyes and waves, and for a moment afterwards, I sat in my car and thought about them. They treated their show like it was their child, and talked about their cast like they were their family. In this world, it's difficult to find people who are so magnetic the way that Reza Vranitzky and Astra Thivierge are, and it's people like that who find so much joy in their work that will succeed in the end. Even before the first episode is out, I'm willing to bet that Everything's Fine will go far because of all the love and work that the two women have put into it over the years. They're strong, loving young women, and that's something that deserves to be celebrated.

Starz's "Everything's Fine" sets series premiere date

"Everything's Fine," the brain child of Belgian actress Astra Thivierge and Austrian writer Reza Vranitzky, finally has a set date of its premiere after nine months of planning and preparation. To celebrate this, the show's site uploaded six short videos, each of them focusing on a different main character from the upcoming show. The videos are currently being shown on Starz during commercial breaks, a different one each time. The short videos are made up of clips and scenes from the first season of Everything's Fine, showing a more in-depth analysis of all the complex characters, and giving the audience a larger look at the general dynamic of the show.

The creators of "Everything's Fine" attribute the delay in releasing the show to creative differences with the Starz team, but that the issues have since been resolved. "It's not easy to give up the image you have in your head of how you want your television show to go," Reza Vranitzky explained, "but when it's something that just simply can't happen, you have to give in."

"Everything's Fine" focuses on the daily lives of three roommates and the struggles they go through as "twenty-somethings." It was originally written in a sitcom-style format for a German audience, but was later adapted into a more serious show for Starz. The show has been quite a change from Starz's normal programming, which usually includes shows with very high budgets and a large cast, while "Everything's Fine" maintains an "independent theatre" feeling to it, and very rarely strays it focus from the six main characters.

A star-studded cast is just one of the many things that show can boast about, including James Urie, Nadia Berry, Isaac Lovelock, Veronica Carter and Ansley Bates, and features electronica artist Vara Gallo in the first two planned seasons. According to an interview Astra Tivierge and Reza Vranitzky gave earlier in the year, the pair had originally been nervous that such a famous cast of actors might steal from what the show is trying to portray, but ultimately it was decided that the cast's acting ability was strong enough that who they were outside of the character wouldn't matter.

The premiere date will be announced later in the week, but for now, the creators are encouraging fans to tweet #EverythingsFine to tell the writers who their favorite character is so far from the previews, and what they're hoping will happen on the show. Happy Tweeting!

RONAN (PREVIEW #1)
UserPostedImage

[The preview starts with the camera focused on a blank wall. The paint on the wall is severely chipped, and looks like it hasn't been washed in the while. Behind the camera, there are sounds of things being moved around. Finally, the camera is angled to the right, and Ronan's face is shown. More of the room is shown, and it becomes obvious that it's a small dining room. Books and other odds-and-ends are stacked in the corners of the room. It's all very hectic and messy, but Ronan seems to be unaware - or is choosing to appear so - of the mess around him. The camera sits on the dining room table and Ronan sits in front of it in a wobbly dining room chair.]

RONAN
Hi. (smiles pleasantly) I'm Ronan Rabenstein.

[A soft upbeat acoustic score begins playing as the scene changes to Ronan letting the documentary crew into their dilapidated apartment building. The audio from the clips isn't heard over the sound of the score playing in the background. There's other clips of Ronan and his roommates, laughing and talking together. Another shot of Ronan opening a gift from Molly on the floor of their living room. Other clips shown include Ronan cooking with Delilah and Molly, Ronan working at the movie theatre he's employed at, and Ronan straightening his tie in the mirror of his room. Over all of this, Molly's voice is heard in a narrating voiceover.]

MOLLY (V.O.)
It's literally impossible to hate a guy like Ronan. It's beyond anybody's ability. And even when you think that he's done something to make you hate him, he'll do something equally as wonderful to make up for it. It's a never-ending struggle in my need for negativity.

[Another series of scenes are shown: One of Ronan - along with Molly, Delilah, and Adam - entering Coldstone Creamery, where Emily works. Then him chatting with Emily as she scoops his ice cream. There's a focus on Ronan and his awkwardness towards Emily - whom he obviously has a crush on - throughout these scenes. There's another scene of him and Emily at a movie together. He fakes a yawn and stretches his arms out, and then hangs one arm in the air, debating on whether or not to fully go through with the "fake yawn" and put his arm around Emily's shoulder. His arm hangs in the air for a few moments before he drops it back into his lap, looking unsatisfied. The last shot is of him in his room. The camera is spying on him through the barely cracked open door. Ronan takes a pill bottle out of his bedside table and takes a pill. He pauses, and then takes another two before laying back down on his bed. Over this, Emily's voice is heard.]

EMILY (V.O.):
Ronan? No, he's great. He always gets birthday cake flavored ice cream when he comes into the store... That's kind of him, you know? Birthday cake flavored. He's not vanilla - he's not boring. But he's safe. And I like him for that.

[The music stops very suddenly after the scene of Ronan taking the pills is shown.]

[A scene between Molly and her boyfriend, Adam appears. It's the first scene, besides Ronan's introduction in the beginning, that has sound to it. Molly is sitting on the couch in the living room, tears running down her face, while Adam sits closes beside her. He's holding her hand tightly as he speaks with a forced calmness.]

ADAM:
Listen to me, Molly...

[As Adam speaks, the scene changes from them to another montage, this one being much quicker paced: 1.) Delilah taking the pills out of Ronan's bedroom. 2.) Ronan yelling, tearing apart the house, looking for the bottle. 3.) Ronan cornering Adam in the kitchen. Ronan, whom before had looked so calm and collected, now looks almost savage. Adam looks like he's trying to maintain a calm demeanor, although it's starting to falter. And 4.) Molly swinging her large hobo bag purse at Ronan, knocking him in the side, where he hits his head on the kitchen counter and slumps to the floor.]

ADAM (V.O.)
(slowly) ... Ronan needs help.

[The last shot is another scene of the main six - Ronan, Molly, Delilah, Adam, Leo, and Emily - all huddled on the same, small couch together in front of the TV. They look happy. The audio from the scene isn't heard. Instead, the audio heard over this happy scene is the audio of two people loudly arguing with each other, their voices slightly distorted to the point where you can't quite make out what they're saying. As the scene of the happy people stay on the screen, there's suddenly a cease in the arguing, and a loud scream is heard. The sound of tires screeching follows the scream, and then a collision between the car and something heavy. When the collision is heard, the screen goes black. Slowly, the title of the show, "Everything's Fine," appears on the screen in it's distorted fashion. End preview.]

MOLLY (PREVIEW #2)
UserPostedImage

[The preview starts with Molly's roommate, Delilah, standing outside a bedroom door. Delilah has on an oversized tank top and lounge pants - obviously sleeping clothes - and is knocking repeatedly on the bedroom door, looking frustrated. There's loud rock music playing from inside in bedroom.]

DELILAH:
(attempting to be heard over the music) Molly? Last chance to open the door, or I'm kicking it open! (No response) Fine!

[The apartment that the trio live in is in such a state of disrepair that it only takes Delilah slamming her small body against the door twice before it swings open, revealing Molly completely naked (although in the preview, this is censored), and her boyfriend, Adam - who is only seen from behind - naked as well. They have obviously been interrupted in the middle of a very intimate moment together. Molly looks up at Delilah and the cameras and gives a large smile, obviously unashamed.]

MOLLY:
Hey there, guys. Come on in.

[The scene closes out and - much like in the way that Ronan's was before - begins a series of montages and voiceovers, accompanied by an upbeat score. The first voiceover is Delilah's. The scenes that follow are scenes of Molly drinking to excess at a bar, her singing in a punk rock band on a small stage in a club, and her rolling on the ground with another woman - revealed to be Clara Oswald - in a vicious fist fight.]

DELILAH (V.O.)
Molly is that girl that you take to the party because you know that she's going to be the one that gets everybody drinking and having a good time. And you think that people are going to like you more because you're with The Party Girl. And sure, maybe you do make a few friends, but in the end, you're always going to be overshadowed by The Party Girl. And for most people, that's okay. You just don't take her to the next party. I can't do that. I live with The Party Girl. I'm stuck with her.

[The next voiceover is Adam's, Molly's boyfriend. As he talks, scenes of him and Molly together are shown on the screen. In some of them, they seem happy together, like in the scenes of them watching TV together, and of them in the park petting dogs together, and of them sitting at a bar, Molly's legs laying across Adam's lap as they clink their shot glasses together and down them. But in juxtaposition of these shots, there's one of Molly and Adam sitting on the couch, but Molly is possessively holding on to Adam's arm, not letting him get up to leave. Another is Molly and Adam in the park, with Molly fanning herself and taking off her shirt, revealing a tight - almost too small - workout bra underneath - Adam looks both amused, but uncomfortable with his girlfriend being close to topless in public. The last shot is of Adam sitting at the bar alone, watching Molly dance dirtily with two other men on the dance floor.]

ADAM (V.O.)
Do I want Molly? Yes. Do I love Molly? Yes. Do I feel like being with Molly is a good place for me right now? Yes. But do I think I'll be with Molly forever? (he pauses, and then sighs)

[The score changes dramatically again, like in Ronan's, to a much more serious tune. A quick series of scenes are shown, with now Molly speaking over them. The scenes show 1.) Molly crying on the couch with Adam holding her hand. 2.) Molly pouring pills down the toilet. 3.) Molly swinging her large hobo bag purse at Ronan, knocking him in the side, where he hits his head on the kitchen counter and slumps to the floor. 4.) Molly running outside of their apartment, the red and blue glow of police lights shining on her face.]

MOLLY (V.O.)
I just have to keep telling myself that I'll be fine. I'll be fine. I'll be fine. (her voice breaks) I'll be fine...

[The police are unseen - only the shine of their lights on Molly's face makes it obvious that they're there. There is silence as Molly slowly breaks down into a sob, covering her face with her hands. As in the Ronan preview, the sound of distorted arguing is heard over the scene, then the scream, and then the car crash as the screen goes black. "Everything's Fine," appears on the screen in it's distorted fashion. End preview.]

DELILAH (PREVIEW #3)
UserPostedImage

[The preview starts off with a simplistic, upbeat score playing in the background as Delilah stands in the room that she and Molly share. There's a line of blue tape going across the floor and up the two walls that the blue tape touches. The room is literally split in half by this tape. One side - Molly's side - is cluttered with clothes, bras, trash, two guitars, a bean bag chair, and a small TV, along with a bed with the comforter and sheets pushed off onto the floor, and a small desk with a laptop and a carton of cigarettes on it. The walls are covered in band posters, but the little bit of wall that can be seen is painted dark red. The other side, however - Delilah's side - is clean and uncluttered. She has a made bed, a small white desk, and pictures of her friends hanging on her wall. A sewing machine sits on her white desk. Between the desk and the bed, rolls of fabric lean against the wall. Three sketchpads sit at the end of her bed. The walls on her side are painted a pastel pink color. She stands proudly on her side of the room, gesturing around. She voiceover is heard as each shot around the room is taken, each one with Delilah in a different position - like quick, moving photographs. The first one, she's standing still in the middle of her side of the room. The second one, she is laying on her bed, reading Stephen King's "11/22/69." The third one, she's sitting at her desk, sketching out a design for a maxi dress. The fourth one, she remains at the desk, but this time she's sewing, pushing the fabric through the machine, the sound of the machine's humming just barely heard under her voice.]

DELILAH (V.O.):
Name: Delilah Laughlin. Age: 21. Profession: Student at San Jose University. I am the daughter of two hardworking parents who never received all that was due to them, and the best friend to two lazy people who still think that life owes them. In this chaotic, crazy world, I often feel like I stand alone while others around me fall victim to their own faults. I am my own voice of reason. I am my own leader. I am my own co--

MOLLY (V.O.):
Oh my god, shut up.

[The scene suddenly switches to Delilah and Molly at a bar together, both of them with beers in hand. Delilah's rant has just been cut off by Molly, who looks more than a little annoyed with Delilah.]

MOLLY:
I feel like I hear this speech once a week, Delilah. Don't you have something better to talk about besides how cruel life is to those who don't deserve it? (pause) Plus, nobody likes somebody who only talks about themselves all the time. It's highly unattractive.

[There's a pause as Delilah and Molly stare at each other before the score comes back, this time more acoustic and uplifting. Like in the other previews, characters speak over audio-less scenes. The first scenes are of Delilah, Ronan, and Molly all together in the kitchen, cooking. Then Delilah in class - fashionable glasses pushed down to the end of her nose - as she takes a test. Then Delilah and Molly in the mall together, looking at clothes.]

DELILAH (V.O.)
I'm not aiming for "perfect." I've never aimed for "perfect." I'm just aiming for something high enough to get me farther than the rest of my family did. Farther than they thought I would get.

MOLLY (V.O.)
So are you doing this for your family or for you?

DELILAH (V.O.)
I don't even know anymore.

[The next scenes are of Delilah and Leo together. First scene in them sitting in front of the movie theatre, eating popcorn. Second scene in Leo fixing the lightblub outside the apartment's front door as Delilah talks to him, chatting away while looking down at her cell phone. The third scene is them in Leo's bathroom together, sitting on the counter, Delilah's head leaning on Leo's shoulder.]

LEO (V.O.):
Don't ever be afraid to call me if something's broken, Delilah. I would fix a hundred lightblubs before I got tired of coming over here. I know it's been kind of difficult lately for you. I'm here to help. I can't fix everything, but damnit if I won't try my hardest.

[Still on the bathroom scene, when Leo's voiceover line finishes, Delilah looks up at Leo and gives him a small smile. She closes her eyes and the screen goes to black, the music ending, and giving way to the more dramatic, serious tune.]

[In the quick montage style that the other previews have adopted, a series of quick scenes are shown as Delilah speaks frantically over them. 1.) Delilah taking pills out of Ronan's room. 2.) Ronan slapping Delilah across the face. 3.) Delilah sitting on the edge of the couch, her hand against the cheek that Ronan just slapped as Ronan searches frantically around the room for his pills. The look on her face is distant. 4.) Delilah sitting on the front steps of their apartment, that same distant look on her face, as in the distance Molly and Adam speak to the police. The police lights shine on her face the same way they had with Molly's before.]

DELILAH (V.O.)
You can't fix me, Leo! You can't fix any of us! We're all too broken! That's why we're stuck here! That's why we can't get out!

[Still on the scene of Delilah sitting on the front steps, the distorted sound of two people fighting is heard playing over the scene. Like in the other previews, the scream is heard, and then the car crash. In the scene with Delilah, a hand from an off-camera person comes into view and softly rests itself on Delilah's shoulder. She jumps and looks up just as the car crash sound is heard. The screen cuts to black, and "Everything's Fine" appears on the screen in it's distorted fashion. End preview.]

ADAM (PREVIEW #4)
UserPostedImage

[The screen is black as the preview starts. The only sound is a guitar being skillfully played. As the scene comes up, it's shown that it's Adam playing the guitar in Molly and Delilah's bedroom, sitting on Molly's bed. Molly sits next to him on the bed, her phone out, recording him as he plays. Adam is so engrossed in the music he's playing that he doesn't even notice that he's being recorded - not only by Molly, but by the documentary crew as well. As he attempts to make a difficult chord change, he fumbles and plays the wrong note, making a sour face. Molly stops recording and giggles happily, looking down at her phone as she starts to type on it.]

MOLLY:
That's going on Facebook.

ADAM:
(realizing that she's recorded him) What? No. Really, Molly, don't.

MOLLY:
Too late.

[Adam opens her mouth to argue with her, but then closes it again, letting out a long, frustrated sigh. There's no arguing with Molly. He looks back at the documentary crew and shrugs as a heavy rock score starts playing.]

[Pictures of Adam are shown on the screen as Adam speaks over them. All of the pictures are of Adam on stage, playing guitar with a band. According to a banner in the background of the pictures, the band was called 'Letdown of the Year' and the singer was Molly. Although it's obviously Adam in the pictures, he looks a bit different than he does now. In the pictures, his hair is a bit longer and more shaggy. His eyebrow is pierced. He may or may not be wearing guyliner. There are six pictures total shown as Adam speaks - the first three are just of Adam playing guitar on stage, the fourth is of him kissing Molly on stage, and the fifth is of him jumping into the crowd, getting ready to crowdsurf. The last one is of Molly and Adam at a party together, both obviously having a great time. Over the pictures, Adam speaks.]

ADAM (V.O.):
Molly and I used to be in a band together called 'Letdown of the Year' when we first started dating. I wasn't a rock god or anything like that, but... but I think Molly thought of me as one at the time, and that's all that mattered.

[More pictures are shown, these of Adam more calm. The eyebrow piercing is out, and his hair is cut. He's in a waiter uniform for TGIFridays in these pictures, looking happy.]

ADAM (V.O.)
But even sudo-rock gods have to grow up and get real jobs. 'Letdown' wasn't going anywhere, and neither were we.

[Two more pictures are shown. One of Adam in his uniform with Molly in the background, looking displeased with the transformation her boyfriend has gone through. The last one is of another party, but this time, Molly parties alone, looking like she's still having the time of her life, even without her boyfriend.]

ADAM (V.O.)
I don't need to work. My parents left me money in my inheritance when they died. But I couldn't do the 'rock star' dream anymore.

[The scene changes to Adam sitting at the dining room table, the pictures the audience has just seen around him, looking at them sadly.]

ADAM
I've slowed down. That life wasn't for me. I'm just... waiting on Molly to slow down now as well. It's just difficult sometimes, because I feel like we're on two different stages of life now, and I don't know if Molly will ever leave the stage she's in. Do I want Molly? Yes. Do I love Molly? Yes. Do I feel like being with Molly is a good place for me right now? Yes. But do I think I'll be with Molly forever? (he pauses, and then sighs)

[The scene switches to a shot of Adam walking out of TGIFriday's and getting into a car that isn't his. The camera surreptitiously zooms in to look inside the car, revealing Clara Oswald inside. Adam and Clara kiss, unaware that they're being filmed.]

[The preview begins it's quick montage, much like the other previews have before. 1.) Adam and Ronan arguing in the kitchen. 2.) Adam comforting Molly on the couch as Molly cries. 3.) Molly and Adam talking to the police. 4.)Adam taking out his phone and dialing a number.]

ADAM (V.O.)
Everybody wants to feel like a rock god. Everybody wants somebody that makes them feel like they're more than who they are.

[The scene remains on Adam with his phone. It rings a couple times before a female voice picks up.]

ADAM:
(into the phone:) Clara? Don't come over. Something... something happened.

[As Adam remains on the phone, listening to Clara's response, the distorted sound of arguing is heard, then the scream, and then the car crash. The screen goes black and "Everything's Fine" appears on the screen in it's distorted fashion. End preview.]

LEO (PREVIEW #5)
UserPostedImage

[The preview starts with a scene of Leo and Delilah outside, in front of the apartment's front door. Leo is standing on a ladder, changing the security light's bulb while Delilah leans against the wooden railing of the small front porch that they have. Delilah is focused on her phone, and speaks to Leo without looking up at him.]

DELILAH
You know, if I would have known all it needed was a new lightbulb, I could have done it. You didn't need to drive all the way out here for that.

LEO
Don't worry about it. It's my pleasure.

[Leo looks over to Delilah and smiles, but she doesn't notice. He remains looking at her for a few moments before she looks up from her phone. Then he quickly looks away, going back to screwing in the bulb.]

[A cheerful score plays as the introduction scene fades out and a montage of scenes fades in of Leo in the apartment with the main trio. The first one is of him changing out the air vent's filtration system. He stands on one of the wobbly dining room chairs to reach the air vent located on the wall above the television in the living room. Delilah and Molly sit on the couch, frustratingly trying to see around Leo's legs as he dangerously wobbles on the chair. The second one is of Leo unclogging the apartment's shower drain, pulling out a ball of hair out of the drain. He gags as he tosses the ball of hair into the trash. The third is of him helping Delilah hang a picture on her bedroom wall. Ronan speaks over these scenes:]

RONAN (V.O.)
Leo is a great landlord, if you can even call him that. He doesn't care that we hardly ever clean the apartment, he's always quick to come over and fix things that we've broken, and he doesn't complain about the fact that we've never once paid rent on time. Plus, he has a crush on Delilah, which I use to my full advantage.

[The scene quickly shifts to the movie theatre scene. Delilah is sitting alone - although in the background, you can see Molly, Ronan, and Emily sitting together. Suddenly, from off-camera, Leo pops into the scene, sitting down quickly next to Delilah.]

LEO
Hey! Funny seeing you here! Popcorn? I put a lot of salt on it.

DELILAH
Ooh! I love a lot of salt!

[Leo's smile is painfully awkward as he offers the bucket of popcorn to Delilah, who is oblivious to Leo's attempt to show his affection towards her. After Delilah takes a handful and starts eating it one by one out of her hand, Leo leans back in the chair, happy to have made some sort of progress with Delilah. Over the image of them sitting together, enjoying the movie, Delilah speaks:]

DELILAH (V.O.)
Leo? No, he's great. A good person, a good landlord, a good friend. That's what I need right now. A good friend.

[The score dips into a more serious feeling as the scene changes to Leo and Delilah sitting in Leo's bathroom. Delilah's head is resting on Leo's shoulder. Leo's voice is heard:]

LEO (V.O.)
Don't ever be afraid to call me if something's broken, Delilah. I would fix a hundred lightblubs before I got tired of coming over here. I know it's been kind of difficult lately for you. I'm here to help...

[The quick montage section starts. Leo's is a bit different from the others, mostly because he was not present at the fights between the roommates and Ronan - which was the focus of the other character's quick montages. Leo's starts afterwards. 1.) The scene with Delilah sitting outside, and the hand appearing. 2.) The hand is Leo's. He sits next to Delilah on the steps, his arm around her. 3.) She leans against him, her head on his shoulder the same way it was in the bathroom, but this time there's a much deeper depression behind her eyes. 4.) He rests his own head on top of Delilah's. There's a true feeling of affection towards her, and he badly wants to express it, but he doesn't want to scare her when she really just needs a friend.]

LEO (V.O.)
I can't fix everything, but damnit if I won't try my hardest.

[Delilah turns her head to look up at him. They stare at each other for a moment before she gives him a small smile. In the background, the sound of the distorted argument, the scream, and the car crash is heard. The screen goes black. "Everything's Fine" shows in it's distorted fashion. End preview.]

EMILY (PREVIEW #6)
UserPostedImage

[The preview starts with a scene of Coldstone Creamery. There's nobody in the store except for Emily, who's behind the counter. She rests her elbows on the counter and lays her head down in between her arms, pure boredom taking her over. After a few moments of silence, except for the humming of the freezer, Emily's voiceover starts.]

EMILY (V.O.)
Don't apologize, Ronan...

[The scene cuts to Emily in the trio's apartment, which is filled with people. There's a huge party going on, and Emily is caught in a group of people. She's smiling brightly. The frame is freezed with her in mid-jump, her makeup smeared across her face like she's been sweating or crying, and her hair tousled. Despite this, she still looks beautiful and happy.]

EMILY (V.O.)
(continuing)... My life was so boring before you came along.

[The scene unfreezes and the partying group continues to jump and dance to the music being played - now heard as loud pop music. The pop music continues in the background as more of the preview is shown.]

[The next scene is in Ronan's bedroom. Both Ronan and Emily are sitting on the bed, facing each other on either side. They're passing a bottle of whiskey back and forth as Emily speaks.]

EMILY
I haven't had a lot of luck lately...

[There's a quick inserted scene of Emily in a trailer home. An elderly woman - Emily's mother - is hooked up to a machine as she lays on the couch, passed out. She's dying of cancer and Emily is her sole caregiver. The scene changes back to Emily and Ronan on the bed together.]

EMILY
In fact, I think meet you guys has been the best luck I've had in a long time.

[The pop score continues as audio-less scenes are shown. The first one is Emily and Clara working together. Clara says something unheard to the audience and Emily laughs. The next scene is Emily and Ronan sitting at the movie theatre together. Emily is covering her eyes dramatically, peaking through them every few seconds to see what's going on. The third scene is Emily and her sister standing outside the hospital, each of them holding a cigarette, both looking tired. Over these scenes, Emily speaks:]

EMILY (V.O.)
But it can't stay like this forever. I know, eventually, that something is going to go wrong.

[The scene changes. The happy, pop score ends and gives way to the well-known dramatic, serious score. Unlike the other previews, which have concluded with a series of quickly shown images, and then the sound of a dramatic car crash, this one ends much differently. Ronan is shown bursting out of the door of the apartment and angrily running towards his car. Emily follows behind him and quickly gets into the other side. The car pulls out of the driveway and onto the street, cutting off two cars who have to slam on their breaks to keep from hitting Ronan's car. A camera in the back of the car films Ronan and Emily from behind as they talk to each other in urgent, angry tones. Their voices are distorted. This is the argument the audience has been hearing in the other previews. Slowly, the screen fades to black. The scream is heard, and then the sound of the car crashing. "Everything's Fine" fades in. End preview.]
