Cryptic promises belay cryptic music these days. I came to the office today with a hypnotic gift hidden inside a USB Drive waiting on my desk.

“It’s a new track, was in your mail-box.” Oh boy, a USB Stick with a sharpie etched over it. ‘Spit-Set’ in scribbled chicken scratch. I put it on, and oh shit kid.

Turns out that Battle is the debut song for the new rap crew which features Kidd Amaze, Rum of the well-known Rum and Coke duo and Isaac Lovelock. The group began to be hyped on Amaze and Lovelock’s twitter accounts, as well as rapper Lucifer who is noticeably absent on this track.

It is unknown if Battle denotes a slew of releases from this new group, but a number of releases following it are almost guaranteed, the only question is when..

The beat is credited to Thank You, Isaac Lovelock’s production persona under which he’s built quite a resume including a Riot! in the Boulevard LP. The beat in question is noticeably slow but dark in nature.

The USB stick came with no songwriter notes so the meaning behind the lyrics are subjective at best, but perhaps that’s how they wanted?

A release that raises more questions than answers, but is it the best rap release of the year so far?
