The stage name "Romance" derived from Torres's songwriting and poetry, which in subject tends to always be about romance and love. Torres originally began recording and writing music at the age of 6 as her parents Selena and Christopher Torres were always supportive of Alina's aspirations to music. Throughout high school Alina was heavily involved in the Drama department and developed her acting abilities through various plays/musicals such as "West Side Story" and "Romeo & Juliet" where she played the lead role of "Juliet". During high school Torres was also involved in the Chorus and won numerous awards during tournaments held at other schools. Alina has a younger brother named "Kris",who's currently 10 years old. Torres graduated high school early at the age of 17 and moved out with her parent to Los Angeles, California to further pursue a career in music. Torres enrolled to the University of California and majored in School of Theater, Film, and Television. After graduating, Torres joined a band named "A Burning Romance" as lead singer. The band managed to record a full length demo but it failed to catch the interest of any record labels at the time. Eventually, the members disbanded when the lead guitarist Kenny died of leukemia in 2011. In tribute to Kenny, the band started a facebook page honoring his life and accomplishments. The page currently has a total of more than 10,000 likes. In the year of 2012, Torres was finally offered an internship at Atlantic Records as a songwriter, after she submitted her most commercial worthy songs. Alina completed the internship in 2013 but refused the job do to a disagreement with the contract that was offered to her. Since then, with the money earned from the internship Alina has been working hard on her solo debut and is currently looking for a record label that will fit her style of music. I'M A LUCKY GAL ATM!  Hello everyone! So happy to be finally updating you all on everything that I've been doing, since I've gone ghost for a moment! I see that the website officially has 1,000 supporters and honestly that is amazing to me! I am so thankful and blessed to have each and everyone of you join my journey in music!
As you may already know, I've been working very hard in the studio the past 2 weeks and I just kind of want to update you on what's actually been going on musically because there's been a lot of stuff happening right now. If you know me from the old days, you've be happy to know that Kane and Jonathan from my old band "A Burning Romance" have officially joined me as co-producers to record my first solo EP. We actually have spent the last two weeks recording and just writing songs for the album! Once we come close to finishing, I should provide you with a title. I do hope to release this EP in the summer time, because the sound is very summery and fun!
Musically, I'm really looking to just having fun and not take my self way too seriously as an artist! I just kind of want to go with what feels right at the time and with the limited resources we have at the moment, we're just trying to create the best material we can create that way it's not a stressful experience. Musically we've been looking at inspirations from Tegan and Sara to Jennifer Armstrong! I'm really not closing off anything at this point!
I've also been talking to other songwriters and producers that I want to collaborate with and many things are in the works. I had the honor and pleasure to meet Greg Kurstin who worked with Stephanie Fierce on her latest album and he's also going to produce one of my records in the future. That's HUGE! I'm going to update you guys on that when it's time!
Hopefully if I make it to Star Factory, it will give me the exposure I need to make it big! I really hope I do! Like I said, If I get chosen, I'm going to give it my all and make everyone of you proud! Until then, chou chou! - Ms. Romance Edited by user 13 April 2014 04:22:48(UTC)
