Sounds Like : Chris Brown - Sex'Sex Babe' is the second single by American singer and dancer Elyar Black, the song was written by Elyar himself while the production of the song was by Deneil who produced, mixed and mastered the song, the song has a total length of four minutes and one second, the lyrics of the song are very sexual and talk about having sex in the bedroom with a girl, the song will be released by Five Pesky Kids on the 15th of April marking Elyar's first release with the label since signing with them in March.
The song itself showcases a new side to Elyar a more urban side as the song is a mid-tempo R&B song with elements of Hip-Hop added into it's production, the Hip-Hop sound can be heard the most during the chorus of the song and in the outro to the song.
The song starts with a girl very sexual saying "oh Elyar" references the songs lyrics sexual nature already, as the beat kicks in Elyar can be heard singing the first verse of the song in a very breathless deep husky tone, which helps add to the sexual nature of the lyrics after Elyar has finished singing the first verse, he can be heard again over the beat changing to the more Hip-Hop sound as he sings the bridge of the song unlike the verse he sings in a sharp deep flirty tone, after he has finished the bridge, the beat picks up still maintaining that hip-hop sound as Elyar can be heard singing the first chrous of the song Elyar switches the chorus up completely different to the first verse as he still maintains that low deep husky tone, but he adds a little bit of passiona into his vocals as if he really wants the lyrics to come across as legit, after Elyar has finished singing the chorus the neat changes once again back to the original beat found at the beginning of the song a more soft r&b sound, Elyar can then be heard singing the second verse of the song he sings the song it pretty much the sane way as he had done in the first verse except that his voice wasn't as deep and because more of the normal Elyar singing voice, after Elyar finished singing the second verse, again Elyar can be heard over the changing beat to the more hip-hop sound as Elyar sings the second bridge section of the song, singing it almost entirely different to the way he had done the first bridge this time he opted for a more sexual breathless tone as he sang he also added extra bit onto the end of the song, after finishes the second bridge section Eyar can now be heard humming some ummm and uhhhs into the song to add to the overall sexual nature, after adding this twice, the beat then changes again to a more r&b sound beat as Elyar can ne heard singing the third verse of the song, this verse is unique to all over verse because this verse is shorter but also the hole verse is sung in falsetto, as Elyar is singing he show off his strong and powerful falsetto vocals and the third verse comes to an end Elyar can again be heard adding Ummm and Uhhhhs to the song before the beat picks up again to the more hip-hop beat as Elyar begins to sing the second chrous, this chrous is also different to the first chorus as he is sticking with his falsetto vocals from the third and carrying them into this chorus, after Elyar has finished singing this chorus the beat stays the same as Elyar can be heard singing the final chorus of the song this chrous he returned to a more deep sexual husky that was present in the first chorus as he reaches the end of the last chrous he sings quieter and quieter until he reach the very end of the song were he again adds in some strong deep "ummmn and uuhhhhhhhhhh" after this his whispers soft" girl I had fun making you scream my name" then the song ends.
The music video for the song is actually nit set in a bedroom instead Elyar and Pesky went for something more mondist that wouldn't be take off the air so they instead filmed the music video on Venice Beach, California were yoy see Elyar walking around trying to find the girl he is talking about in the lyrics, you will also see Elyar singing in front of a UK flag and also singing on a stage in the middle of the beach, the music video is expected to be slightly longer than the song by about twenty seconds, the music video will premiere five days after the song and will be uploaded to Elyar's official VeVo channel as well as being placed on the five pesky kids website.
Steve Jones from USA Today called the song "salacious" and wrote that Black is "taking it to the next phase." Joanne Dorken from MTV UK felt "rather apprehensive" of the song, and noted it "sees Elyar exploring ways to er, leave a woman satisfied." Nick Levine from BBC Music wrote that "Black's identity crisis is betrayed most blatantly by the sequencing of "Sex Babe." Hannah Ash from The Harber Herald criticized the song's lyrics for being "kind of a gross-out and really don't need to be paid attention to", but praised Black's "beautiful vocals, so that makes up for it." Eric Henderson from Slant Magazine criticized the song's opening verse as well as calling the song an "over-the-top hyper-sexual", Chad Grischow from IGN wrote that its the "kind of excessively crude sludge that would have made 12 Play era R. Kelly blush." Cristin Maher from PopCrush wrote that "it is almost shocking to hear the unbelievably lustful lyrics projecting from Black as he sings the song. Andrew Hampp of Billboard rated it 82 out of 100, stating that Black sounds more adult than ever, but noted that most of his fans are still 12-year-old girls and he may need to sing something different, Amy Sciaretto of Pop Crush praised the track, and said that the result of trying new music styles resulted on "a more mature, more well-rounded Elyar Black song." Jenna Hally Rubenstein of MTV said that "Sex Babe" is "crazy dope", and realized that the lyrics are directed to the things Black does with his current girlfriend if he was to have one., Becca Grim of Rolling Stone thought that the song is "edgier-than-usual," while Artistdirect reviewer Breña Brandano said that "Sex Babe" not only marks Elyar's transition to an adult, but also deemed it as a "new dawn for pop." Marc Hogan of magazine Spin said that Black "wants to sex you up" with the track, but thought that "Black might be a wealthy suitor, but he's up for giving you your best night yet." A Rap-Up reviewer complimented "Sex Babe" for showcasing a mature Black and urban sound on it. The A.V. Club editors Steven Hyden and Genevieve Koski rated the song an A-, complimenting its production and vocals and considering it "irresistible, and when Elyar launches into that Timberlakian falsetto, it all feels pretty perfect." They also ranked it among his best singles, although they criticized its lyrical content. Jordan Zakarin of The Hollywood Reporter described the song as a "more or less a proposition, with Black outlining both not only great sex skills but also that he can go all night" Raju Mudhar of Toronto Star commented that, lyrically, Black is "nowhere near bringing 'SexyBack', but sounds like he knows a thing or two in the bedroom." Jody Rosen of Rolling Stone also rated it three out of five stars, and, while seeing its background as a "expertly calculated to ease Elyar's transition from tweenpop dreamboat to post-tweenpop dreamboat", questioned, "how can a song that begins with Black singing in his thickest patois about his "sex skills" not be hater-bait?" About.com critic Bill Lamb considered it a "simplistic song derivative of Justin Timberlake", and stated that the lyrics does not have "substance to expand into an entire song all the song is about is sex and how he pleases a girl in the bedroom." HitFix blogger Chris Eggertsen thought that "Sex Babe" is lyrically the same song Black has sung since his career first started but only a little sexual, but noted that none of his fans would notice such aspect. Gregory Hicks of The Michigan Daily commented that Black is copying Dominic Brown's R&B style on the song, and described the lyrics as original "in the sense that few artists are willing to introduce this much poetic stupidity into their music."
