“Well it looks like it’s that time again. Adam Benjamin has foolishly been allowed into a recording studio all on his own and now he has another of his ‘songs’ to show to us. The man that brought us such hits as ‘Boo … It’s Me!’, ‘Star Wars Anthem’ and ‘Rawr, I’m A Dinosaur’ has begun stepping up the process of his sophomore album and having taken a break from touring with Riot! In The Boulevard, it seems like he’s having his own fun away from the band. Yeah, it’s been confirmed that Benjamin is working on his second studio album, surprisingly the first member of Riot! to fly solo it was certainly what we’d have expected from one of the bands primary songwriters. The tracks were light-hearted and often silly and although this latest track can be seen as another light-hearted track, it’s slightly less silly than his previous work. Perhaps Benjamin is looking to show that he has own unique songwriting style that includes all of his little quirks but can also have some sort of serious emotions within it.
So this latest song by Benjamin, titled “#Relatable” see’s the singer-songwriter talking about what could very well be an average weekend for him. It certainly feels like he’s singing about himself, but as the songs title suggests, it’s relatable. Anyway, here’s the acoustic song”
“#Relatable”“Do you ever …
Dance like a fool on the weekend
Spend those nights crying on the shoulder of your best friend
Feel like you should stay out till the world ends
But instead your back home by eleven pm
Do you ever …
Check your phone in the morning
Wonder why nobodies calling
Turns out there all downstairs snoring
Sleeping their life away
So I’ll say …
Do you ever …
Get drunk and start crying
Wonder why you even bother trying
Promise yourself that it won’t happen anymore
At the end of the night you’re crying on the kitchen floor
Do you ever …
Wish that you could just tell her you love her so
That she’s amazing and you never wanna let her go
That she’s beautiful and deserves so much more
Than that douchebag that she’s been longing for
Do you ever …
Promise yourself that you’ll be brave
Learn to put a big smile on your face
Fight through the darkness in the greatest way
Never be afraid to say the things you wanna say
Do you ever …
Get scared that she’ll not feel the same
Knowing that you’ll only have yourself to blame
Always getting tired of the same old game
Settling for second place
Do you ever …
Try your best to get her off your mind
Know that you won’t cause you’re the loving kind
Even if it means falling behind
You’ll sit patiently
Do you ever …
Dream about the moment when you confess your love
Everything working out like you dreamed of
Then you wake up and you’re all alone
Stuck in this sad empty lonely home
If you do
Then I’m just like you
And this is all relatable
Just remember that we’re all dateable”
