BACKGROUND

Nicholas Reese Hollinsworth (born July 20, 1990) is a Vietnamese-American recording artist. Born in Hanoi, Vietnam and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for the majority of his childhood and teenage years, he has been a victim of verbal and emotional abuse from his father and from bullying at middle school, causing him to slip into early stages of depression, which was thankfully discovered. After getting off anti-depressants, Hollinsworth started using music as an emotional outlet and first competed in various musical competitions, at which his performance was spotty. A major incident involving his throat required a surgery which significantly modified his voice, causing him to feel more confident about his voice and start writing songs. He is currently in the process of promoting his new EP, In Hiding... (2 of 2), and writing songs for his debut album.

A self-described feminist, his songs are promised to be characterized by themes of love, heartbreak, and sexuality along with female empowerment. Onstage, Hollinsworth develops another persona, in which he dresses as female and sings and dances fiercely on stage. The alter ego was praised by many music critics, notably Jason Lipshutz of Billboard magazine praising "the unprecedented power in his voice, which is never seen before in a male vocalist, and even more, his dancing abilities." His powerful presence on stage is also said to rival Beyoncé's own, which Hollinsworth responded "My onstage persona is kind of inspired by Beyoncé, so I don't think it'd be fair to compare like that."

REESE HOLLINSWORTH TO HEADLINE AT 'MADE IN AMERICA' MUSIC FESTIVAL

UserPostedImageUserPostedImage

Following the electrifying spectacle shown on Good Morning America, Reese Hollinsworth is set to return to the stage on the second day of the Budweiser Made in America Music Festival, according to a tweet posted on his official Twitter which read in part: "[sic] I'm approved for MADE IN AMERICA!!!" with multiple hashtags. The official press statement released by Live Nation merely three hours later confirmed Hollinsworth's appearance at the festival. According to the press statement, Hollinsworth is due to close out the festival with a two-hour concert, the longest timeslot ever given to an artist, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on August 31, 2014.

The world will be treated with multiple previews of rehearsal footage and also vlogs which will be updated on reesehollinsworth.com daily. In addition to performing, Hollinsworth is also reaching out to many charities and organizations to help with poverty around the world. Firstly, he is donating $20,000 from his own savings toward the CARE International UK charity. Also, everyone attending Hollinsworth's two-hour segment will be asked by clerks from around the venue for an additional two dollars given to the Oxfam International charity.

Hollinsworth's show at the Made in America Music Festival will be live-streamed from YouTube, as with many others performing in the festival.

HBO TO AIR REESE HOLLINSWORTH'S 'MADE IN AMERICA' CONCERT

NEW YORK CITY, NY - July 13, 2014 - A few weeks ago, many reports claimed that HBO is currently in talks with an unspecified recording artist to film a concert special. Two days ago, HBO released an official press statement, saying that it will be Reese Hollinsworth's 'Made in America' music festival performance that will be filmed. The statement read in part: "We are very honored to have Reese Hollinsworth as a new addition to our music repertoire with his 'Made in America' Music Festival performance premiering in the near future."

So, if you're in Philly on August 31, watch for the HBO cameras set all over the venue. There is, however, no word on when the concert special will premiere. In addition to HBO, YouTube will also stream the music festival's proceedings live, which include Hollinsworth's performance. A series of LED footage custom-made for the performance will be seen for the first time on reesehollinsworth.com, as well as exclusive stage and costume designs.

BLOG UPDATE - 07/27/2014

Hello everyone! And welcome to my first foray into the blogosphere. It has been a long time coming, but it's finally here.

This week, a lot of things happened. Firstly, my birthday party was last Sunday. The party was awesome! I couldn't believe that my friends threw a surprise birthday party for me! I don't think I can now. And so many people showed up. A lot of my friends, even those who are, like, living in London and Paris, flew in for the party, and it was so great meeting all of them again. Some of these friends were from way back since grade school. It was a really great opportunity to catch up on what we missed of each other. Overall, it was a great experience, although I was the one who did all the cleaning. Shame on you Not talking d'oh!

Anyway, let's shift gears here. So, as all of you know, I'm set to perform at (and close) the Budweiser Made in America Music Festival. It'll be my first time performing for any music festival at all, so I'm pretty damn excited at the moment. The show's coming out really great. We started rehearsals just a week ago, and it was really fun seeing all the ideas in my head start coming together. But, I assume that we may be behind schedule a bit, because we have nearly a month before we have to build our set and actually perform on there and make sure it doesn't collapse on anyone. So it's a lot of pressure. But if it all works out, it will definitely be worth it.

Now onto the elusive debut album. Wow, what should I tell you about it without completely spoiling the whole thing? Um, today we wrote a couple of kick-ass songs. Now, I know I've been saying that a lot lately, but I have to tell you it does sound incredible, and I'm sure y'all are gonna love it when it all comes together. One of the two songs we wrote was a trap song...thingy. And I actually rapped for the first time. I mean, honestly, it felt like speaking to a beat, but I don't really know if that's how it's supposed to feel like. But the rap was awesome. At least I think so. And the second song that I wrote was a really slow ballad, with all the piano and shit. Actually, I think it was, like, only piano and strings and that's it. No complications, no synthesizers, no electronics. Just instruments and vocals. Sometimes that's all you need. And I think I may have a potential first two singles in my arsenal. I don't know if it's gonna stay, but I really hope that it stays because these two songs sound AMAZING.

Wow, this got long and boring. Hope you enjoyed this first weekly blog update and I'll see you next week!

I love you guys. Doo doo doo doo doo doo. Bye!

(Totally stole that from Connor Franta lol. Bye!)
