Glamazon's dangerously addictive new single "Poison" is the second single to be taken from her seventh studio album,
After Hours. The dark pop vixen recently returned with smash hit "Bad Religion", a track that's managed to become one of her biggest hits to date with all odds against her, peaking at #1 on both airplay and digital. Although it's not surprising considering how mainstream the song was compared to most of her other material, combining her twisted lyrics with an infectious synth-pop beat that went down a storm on radio. But how does the next single measure up?
"Poison" in comparison, is the darker, more rebellious teenage sister to the album's lead single. It's not so by-the-numbers and feels a little more natural to Glamazon instead of a being a basic hit-chasing single which we couldn't help but feel like "Bad Religion" was. Although it worked for her, we wanted something that was real and true to her as an artist, and thankfully with "Poison", things seem to be back on track. Once again, this isn't new territory for Glamazon, but it certainly isn't predictable either. "Poison" is a straight-up energetic electronic pop track that sees Glamazon's music move deeper into a club sound, never losing her signature dark twist with the music or lyrics.
Glamazon has previously commented that a lot of the album is back to her roots, containing "psychotic film soundtrack" songs with "stripper anthems", and we're guessing "Poison" is the latter with its thunderous sound, but lyrically? We're really not sure which category it lies in. We could totally imagine this being appropriate for either one... I mean, sure, this has a perfect beat for a stripper, but kissing a guy just to fill his mouth with poison? Why isn't this woman behind bars yet? We're still certain she killed Eric Quillington.
