ROME WORLD TOUR
UserPostedImage
Reported Failure's latest tour could heighten them to the biggest band in the world. The four-piece band out of California will play eighty four dates between August and November. Most of these shows are at stadiums that hold tens of thousands of people: the biggest venues Reported Failure will ever have tried to fill on a headlining tour. The band's first would tour came in 2010 and did moderately well with the band playing small clubs. The groups latest album "Rome" it #1, sold more tan five million copies worldwide, and gained critical acclaim worldwide. Singles like "Lunar Utero" and "Days Spent in The Dark" dominated rock and pop radio for months, and the former won Record of the Year and Song of the Year at The Goldies. However, all of this happened over a year ago. Since then Billie Beckett left the band to "find himself" in the wilderness, then came back unexpectedly earlier this year. The band has only released one song as a free download on their website. The song hasn't received any airplay or promotion. And with today's fast-paced music industry, perhaps Reported Failure is on the way out, and a massive world tour is the last attempt by a band whose peers -The Walls, Suburban Sunrise, Infinite, Mind, Realm, and most recently Riot! in the Boulevard- have all faded in to the past to be replaced by younger bands.

But on the other hand, no band besides Reported Failure has even attempted the type of tour that the Rome World Tour is in quite some time. The tour includes two nights in Rio to kick it off. RF will play mostly stadiums and arenas with a few amphitheaters and club shows mixed in. Just ow big do the shows get? The band will play two nights at the massive Wembley Stadium, two nights at Velez Stadium in Argentina, two nights at Madison Square Garden, two nights at the Hollywood Bowl, one at the Staples Center, and one at Club Nokia -thats right. They're playing LA four times-, two nights at the Tokyo Dome, and they'll close out with two nights at the olympic stadium in Rome. Along the way they're playing at a few smaller venues across Europe and America including the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool where the Beatles famously used to rock out. If the tour is a flop then Reported Failure may join the list of bands who used to be great, but if it succeeds they will become rock superstars.

To support them Reported Failure will be bringing Vile Hour. Nicole Fischer and Castor Drake have become moderately successful around the world wit their unique and often dramatic, blunt, and refreshing take on indie. With two albums out already Vile Hour will be able to expand their fanbase across continents. Penetralia will also join Reported Failure. The post-hardcore outfit from LA is perhaps the strongest and hottest up and coming band in the scene. With this tour they will be able to gain more legitimacy by supporting such a well established artist and bring their music to fans around the world as they hope to get to the next level.

Nichole: More than excited to be touring with one of our favorite bands, and with Penetralia again, who we love. Two very cute sets of men.

Reported Failure Rocks Rio
UserPostedImage
Reported Failure have long been recognized as one of the strongest rock bands and having a great live show. Last night as the Rome World Tour opened in Rio, the band needed to maintain this reputation. Their credibility as a band as been brought in to question after a near break up earlier this year, and a very shaky relationship with the press and the music industry itself. However, in Rio on August 9th the band proved that the best way to have credibility is to play for the fans, and to play the best show possible. Opening with the huge "Days Spent in the Dark" Reported Failure set the tone for what became the longest set they have ever played. The band was in sync and determined to reach everyone in the stadium. Billie Beckett has a new seriousness and drive about him. Vin Peters creates immense atmospheres with just a guitar that reach every corner of the venue. Matt Collins's bass is perfectly timed and heavy creating a raw, loud sound. Robert Edwards is playing better than he ever has, pulling the entire band together and rocking out hard. The band used the first part of their set to build up a huge energy with heavier, faster songs. Then, all of the sudden Billie Beckett shocked the crowd with his incredible cover of "Landslide" followed by the emotional ballad "Goodbye, My Son". Then the quartet played deeper cuts, going on and on in their back catalogue and even continuing to jam out. The band -who will play the historic Cavern Club later in the tour- even covered The Beatles' "I am the Walrus". By the time Reported Failure closed their set with "Rome", they had already played the greatest show of their career so far. When asked about the show Vin Peters just said "We really wanted to keep playing."

Rome Tour Selling Out + Night Two in Rio
UserPostedImage
Reported Failure's Rome World Tour is huge. RF will have played 84 shows by the tour's end in November. Immediately when tickets went on sale some of the smaller club shows sold out. But now Reported Failure has reached a level they've never seen on a headlining tour; they're selling out stadiums. The years of hard work seem to be paying off regardless of recent speed bumps. The following list of shows are sold out:

August 16 Norwich, England @ UEA
August 17 Paris, France @ La Cigale
August 18 Cologne, Germany @ E-Werk
August 20 Oslo, Norway @ Sentrum Scene
August 23 London, England @ Camden Dingwalls

November 11 Phoenix, AZ @ US Airways Center
November 12 Los Angeles, CA @ Staples Center
November 14 Rome, Italy @ Stadio Olimpico

Lastnight Reported Failure played another long, full set at night two in Rio. While for night one they kept playing for 26 songs never leaving the stage, for night two they left and came back out for an encore. Their set stayed very similar to the first nights. Lots of emphasis was put on the songs from "Rome" and "Darkness" with just a couple tracks from each other RF album being played. They covered Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" and The Beatles's "I am the Walrus" once again. Check out the setlist!

Billie Beckett: "We've never felt stronger about our live show or our band"
UserPostedImage
Reported Failure is over a week in to the "Rome World Tour". So far more tan half of the dates have sold out. The groups live sow has received reviews almost as positive as their last album "Rome". The album "Rome" was a huge success. It debuted t #1 abd was named the best album of 2013 by Max-Volume. Despite this success and a hiatus earlier this year, Reported Failure frontman insists that the band's best days are ahead. Before the show in France lastnight, Beckett broke is nearly constant silence towards the press. A local music reporter asked Beckett if he felt the band was fully back after Beckett left earlier this year. Here is Beckett's full quote:

Quote:
I think were a different band now. We're getting old. We're changing. We're starting families or other new endeavors. But what we've been working on is so exciting for us. We've never felt stronger about our live sow or our band. We are working on putting on the greatest show for our fans and we're writing because we want to follow up Rome with something just as incredible. What we've been through as only made us more determined. All tat has changed has made us wiser which I think is making us better songwriters and performers.

ROME WORLD TOUR: PENETRALIA LIVE FROM ANTWERP, BELGIUM
August 29, 2014

UserPostedImage

In the short space of time that ‘Penetralia’ have broken through into the music industry they’ve already managed to establish themselves as one of the bright young things in the alternative rock genres. Their work ethic alone has become something that has helped propel them to semi-stardom as this year alone they’ve supported recorded their debut album ‘With Brave Wings’ which recently became a number one record, toured on the Vans Warped Tour throughout the summer and are now currently in the middle of a long worldwide trek with fellow rock cohorts, Vile Hour and Reported Failure. Clearly they do not lack ambition or drive and with their best years very much ahead of them, it appears the rise for Koda, Gunner, Beau and Jonah shows no signs of letting up anytime soon!

They step onto the stage in Antwerp, Belgium as they have done many nights on this tour, the first band on, essentially opening for the irresistible live force that is Vile Hour while they in turn open for Reported Failure. Of course ‘Penetralia’ are the band on this tour with less of a history than their fellow bands but that doesn’t do anything to their confidence as they fly out of the blocks from the get-go. The band perform with such high energy levels that makes you question whether they can maintain throughout a long career, but they seem to be a band that demand focus to be on the present, Koda’s occasional words of wisdom for the audience often highlight that, but don’t worry they do not preach they just encourage a good time and a feeling of everybody being in it together as one .

The bands setlist is littered with songs of emotions, but as you’d imagine the main spots are the singles, ‘March On’ appears early on the running order while their other three singles, ‘Cupid’s Scythe’, ‘Keep Your Demons’ and ‘With Brave Wings, She Flies’ are saved for their finale, as a run of closing songs go this is as powerful as any. But do not worry, the band aren’t too reliant on their singles, although the crowd isn’t littered with ‘Penetralia’ fans they still appear to have a familiarity of the ‘album songs’ the tracks that aren’t singles and those tracks prove to be able to stand on their own. The fact that the record sold in as many numbers as it did has certainly accelerated the bands rise, lead singer Koda even ackowledging this rapid acension, “You guys, this is so very surreal! We didn’t think we’d be supporting such incredible bands so soon. Does somebody wanna f*cking pinch me?” he says light-heartedly mid-way through.

The overall feeling after watching ‘Penetralia’s’ set isn’t necessarily an I was there before they became huge feeling, but you do feel like you’re watching a future worldwide headliner. Don’t get carried away though, because this band seem to know their role in the industry at the minute and their rock and roll apprenticeship still isn’t quite over yet. There’s a few things that they’ll have to learn to perfect and the endless touring in supporting slots and on travelling festivals will be important and highly formative for the band, but already they’re figuring out the kinks. Keep an eye out for them!

SETLIST;

1. I Still Hear Your Voice In The Night
2. Dreamless
3. March On
4. Exploding Hearts
5. This Is A Battlefield
6. Forevermore*
7. Gem*
8. Cupid’s Scythe
9. Keep Your Demons
10. With Brave Wings, She Flies

Vin Peters Says whats Next
UserPostedImage
Reported Failure has been out on a tour that will likely become a career highlight for the band. While playing sets longer than twenty songs each night Reported Failure is becoming more in sync than ever. Their live show has reached a new level and guitarist Vin Peters recently hinted that it may translate in to Reported Failure's music in the future. Billie Beckett already said that he's never felt better about Reported Failure. Te good vibes for RF and die-hards came yesterday when Peters started talking about the band's plans for November once the tour ends. Peters: "We're gonna hit the studio pretty quickly. We're going to work with Avil Hartman again. The sound of the next album is really undefined right now, but we've been writing songs and we know we want to really channel some of the greats and make an album that will stand the test of time."

Its a good time to be a Reported Failure fan. With a seventh RF album on the horizon the speculation will now begin as to what it will be about, how it will sound, and whether it will solidify Reported Failure's spot in history or deem them a trend of early 21st century rock. The album will be the fourth that the band has made with producer Avil Hartman. Hartman produced "Rome". Currently we can only guess that the next album will sound like "Rome" mixed with the new styles RF has been experimenting with on tour. On tour they have been playing loud jams at the end or in the middle of songs. The new song "Take Arms Against a Sea of Troubles" is a long jam afterall. The band has also been covering The Beatles's "I am the Walrus". Perhaps these are the greats they want to channel? Rome was full of gorgeous atmospheres from Vin Peters and Billie Beckett's intense poetic lyrics, but many songs on the album showed tat Reported Failure can still play fast, heavy track.

The tour isn't over yet, so there will still be more to deduce from Reported Failure, but for now what do you think? What do you, the fans think will happen? What do you want to happen?

Reported Failure plays Historic Show in Liverpool's Cavern Club
UserPostedImage
29 song set includes five Beatles covers and a guest appearance by Amy Meyer

Could Reported Failure be the fab four of the modern rock/alternative scene? The veteran quartet has been playing sod out show after sold out show on their “Rome World Tour”. On September 21 they came to Liverpool’s “The Cavern” where the Beatle’s famously got started. The Beatle’s are far from the hard rock that Reported Failure is famous for, but in recent years RF has become known for their versatility. After a standard set of some of RF’s biggest hits and fan favorites, the guys from Sacramento played an extra section to their set covering Beatles classics.

The show overall was the longest Reported Failure has played so far. Opening with energy and emotion with “Days Spent in the Dark” followed by “Lunar Utero”, the mood was set for rock and roll the Reported Failure way. They are in sync. Drummer Robert Edwards is sleek, quick, and consistent with the persona almost of a professional athlete who knows his team is a big deal. Bassist Matt Collins has impeccable timing as he slides from punk fuzz to smooth rock jams effortlessly. Guitarist Vin Peters has the hard rock haircut (or lack thereof) reminiscent of Robert Plant or Toni Lommi or Slash. He spends half his time running around stage and the other half elusively off in a corner or even behind the brick wall of the stage making everything from dynamic screaming leads to moody ambience by himself. Singer Billie Beckett lets his voice soar or crack and scream with unreal control as he thrashes around with his light blue Fender Jaguar jamming with the rest of the band at every moment.

With an extensive discography to work with, Reported Failure selects a mix of tracks from their new album like “Arctic Stars”, “When I Talk to God”, “Awakening”, and the epic “Land and Sea” as well as fan favorites from previous albums such as “A Pattern of Distress”, “Hope to Get Out”, “Testimony” and “Lay on Me.” The small cavern club is full of Reported Failure diehards. The energy mounts with every second.

In an epic change of pace, Billie Beckett plays his cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” The whole crowd sings with him. But the crowd couldn’t have predicted what happened next. Longtime fan and friend of Reported Failure and rock icon herself, Amy Meyer walks on stage. With a “Hey everybody” from Amy the crowd goes fucking insane. Billie stops playing while the crowd screams to give Amy a hug. The two friends play the rest of “Landslide” as a beautiful duet and what is sure to be a long remembered moment.

With Amy Meyer joining Reported Failure they played a selection from the album “Darkness” which Meyer was featured on including songs such as “6771”, “Neveah”, “Writing My own Eulogy” and “Lithium.” Since all of these songs feature Meyer, Reported Failure doesn’t play them live very often –with the exception of “6771” which has appeared in RF set lists quite often. Meyer adds another level of raw energy and charisma to Reported Failure’s already tight operation. Meyer’s persona is a little bit more punk rock than Reported Failure’s current persona that is much more classic hard rock. The jams and flow of the set is reminiscent of a Led Zeppelin show in the early seventies but with flavors of punk.

Meyer joined the boys for an emotional rendition of “Goodbye, My Son” and then left to a lasting ovation from the Liverpool crowd. At this point Reported Failure got down to business playing the hits. The intimate setting was too small for the mosh pit to form, but the entire crowd was in motion. Crowd surfers cruise in the tiny club getting close enough to touch the band. Hits like “Manufactured Radio”, “Disarm”, “Frosted Peaks”, and “Being Man” rock the club and form unforgettable moments. Billie Beckett uses he intimacy of the venue to really show off why he is one of the most iconic frontmen in recent memory. He harnesses passion for every syllable of every word of every phrase in a way that transcends any one genre and connects with every fan. Everyone in the club could tell that Reported Failure has been working hard to make a live show that people remember. As they jam out at the end of “Frosted Peaks” the crowd cant help but feel like at that moment there is nowhere on the planet better to be than the Cavern in Liverpool and Reported Failure is so smooth yet raw and unrelentingly loud; they probably know it too. Cocky bastards.

The set ends with the massive hit “Crumbling.” But that is just the first ending. Reported Failure has to play an encore. They just have to! Amid screaming fans Matt Collins walked back on to stage and turned on an amp and started playing a bassline. It was Repotted Failure’s new song “Take Arms against a Sea of Troubles.” This isn’t a punk band anymore. Reported Failure sounds like if some kind of superhuman Jeff Buckley and Kurt Cobain crossover was the lead singer in Black Sabbath. The band and the crowd goes nuts. Vin Peters is a guitar god worthy of having his face plastered throughout our pop culture and his riffs immortalized in our video games. He’s so fucking rock and roll he smashes his guitar on the brick wall continuing the guitar smashing tradition of Pete Townsend and Kurt Cobain. In a way, Reported Failure’s live show is an assimilation of rock and roll culture through time.

With Vin’s guitar in pieces and just a random tone and the crowd’s cheers ringing out, the show seems to be over. It’s been a long show already. But Reported Failure refuses to truly quit. They disappear for a minute or less. Maybe they’re cooling off. Maybe they’re doing lines of coke off of an amp. Maybe they’re praying to a statue of Jimi Hendrix whatever rock and roll shrine had allowed the show to be as good as it was. But after a minute the guitar riff to The Beatle’s “Revolution” rings out through The Cavern.

The crowd had been going nuts all night, but the feeling in The Cavern Club had reached a pinnacle of excitement. Vin Peters stormed onstage first now playing a vintage Gretsch Tennessean –the same guitar made famous by George Harrison. Robert Edwards comes onstage raising his drumsticks in the air like trophies, like he just won the Super Bowl before kicking in with the beat. Matt Collins brings in the bass as he struts onstage holding is bass like a weapon and improvising, showing off for the crowd. Finally Billie Beckett joins his bandmates. He as an aura of confidence about him. He plays his guitar and walks straight to the microphone to sing the song like he’s John Lennon. Reported Failure is heavier than The Beatles. They are more punk, more grunge. They grew up listening to The Foo Fighters and Modest Mouse, and The Cure and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their take on the Beatle’s is very nineties. The guitar tone is heavier and Beckett’s voice more ethereal and dark than Paul McCartney’s or John Lennon’s.

Revolution fades to another raging guitar intro. This one is from “Helter Smelter.” Reported Failure seems right at home covering one of The Beatles’ heavier tunes. Vin takes liberty to improvise the guitar licks as Billie takes liberty to scream out the lyrics. They approach the song like a young hardcore band ready to revolutionize the scene, except they’re an established rock band covering a decades old song. But for the crowd in Liverpool, its like Reported Failure is the next huge thing and “Helter Skelter” is soon going to dominate college radio. As the song ends Vin plays a soft guitar jam alone as the crowd cheers. Billie Beckett grabs an acoustic guitar. Vin plays with effects pedals settling on a psycadelic, non-overdriven sound. Billie strums the first chords to “Across the Universe.” It is a slow sing along. Lighters and phones go up in the crowd. Vin plays along in a subtle way. Billie’s voice, sounding hauntingly vulnerable, is the focus.

The song ends, but Reported Failure has more in store. “Once again, Amy Meyer,” says Billie once the crowd quiets down. They don’t stay quiet for long. Meyer walks on stage to perform a rendition of “Blackbird.” One can’t help but think that Billie Beckett and Amy Meyer could record an album together and that it would go down in history. The two of them blend perfectly. They know when to be powerful and when to be soft. Beckett lets Meyer take the lead for most of the song. Her voice fits the beautiful Paul McCartney tune. As the last quiet moment of the set, it is unforgettable.

Next came the big finish. Vin Peters started to play, to jam, to dabble with different sounds. Suddenly keys kick in from somewhere. Vin rages bending and sliding through the notes that make up the original orchestral intro to “I am the Walrus.” Robert Edwards hammers the drum in a rendition of Ringo Starr’s original beat. It is heavier and reminiscent strangely of the beat on Radiohead’s “The National Anthem.” Matt Collins lets the bass ring as he jams with Edwards perfectly. Billie Beckett is confident and wild. Peters takes all the orchestral parts on his guitar. Somehow he makes it work knowing exactly when to make his guitar scream, when to make it ring a soft atmosphere, and knowing when to hit the audience with a hard lick while maintaining the original intent of the melody. The result is a cover as elusive as the original, but with an alternative flair, mixing heavy guitar with the steady jam of bass and guitar. Beckett stays very true to Lennon’s original performance. Beckett’s songwriting, after all, is just as other-worldly as “I am the Walrus.” Having performed this cover before, Reported Failure has it together. It is perhaps the shape of things to come for a band who always tries to take their sound and by extension their fame to the next level. What is certain is that it was an incredible ending to the best show Reported Failure has ever played.

Koda: Dudes that was absolutely insane, I think it's awesome that we even got an opportunity to see this performance close up! Definitely one of those concerts that will be remembered. Seeing you guys bring out Meyer and the Beatles was awesome too, and a 29 song set? Dudes, you're officially icons.

REPORTED FAILURE DEBUT NEW SONG LIVE
UserPostedImage
Billie Beckett stands above the roaring crowd in Toronto, Canada. Reported Failure is more than an our and a half in to their new, heroically lengthy set for the Rome World Tour. Fans have been losing it to their favorite tracks from Reported Failure's eight year discography. Billie is taking in the night. He's just performed the emotional "Land and Sea" from Reported Failure's 2013 career-highlight album "Rome". The crowd kept screaming for some time after the song. He looks over to Matt Collins, also taking in the moment. Matt catches his eye. Matt grins and walks over to Billie. They have a short conversation, but no one can hear it. Billie signals something to Robert Edwards, on drums. Matt finds Vin Peters somewhere halfway off stage still fucking with his guitar. The band is assembled.

Billie speaks "Uh, this is a song we've just been working on." The crowd cheers. They are hella stoked to hear this. Vin kicks it off with a sly little reverberating riff. But no one was ready for Matt Collins coming in at 5 feet 11 inches and one hundred and seventy pounds with a bass that blesses the buns and the bellies of everybody from Toronto to Brantford with blooming, buzzing, beautiful bass. Billie Beckett's confidence flows in with the bass and a hard beat from Edwards.

Billie sings:
"I'm finally done believing
In everything I've known
I'm not done breathing
But I can breathe alone
Take all my possessions
Take everything I own
I have some confessions:
I don't want the throne"

As this first verse ends Vin Peters slowly builds the perfect progression to transition to a blasting chorus. Vin kicks it in to fuzz as Robert Edwards hammers the drums. Matt rips the bass again and again. Billie screams like he's Kurt Cobain. Vin swings his guitar and lets its sweet tone soar.

Billie shouts:
"Come on open the flood gates
Time to reconcile
If the freeway is the righteous path
To heavenly lifestyles
Then fuck it, let the ice melt
And it'll flood for miles
Its not justice
But it sure is a trial

I'm done searching the world for an answer
I'd rather just fight for the dancer

I'm making headway in my journey
To live the truth of life
I dont need a future
And I dont need a past
Let the social constructs crumble
Eroded in to history
I know I'm old and tired of swimming now
But I'm the Old Man in the Sea"

Billie Beckett and Vin Peters have been playing guitar together for years. They listen closely to what each other are doing playing off of it. Peters lets his lead slice and ring in the higher frequencies. Beckett keeps up a fast, fuzz filled rhythm in a hot jam. Meanwhile Robert Edrawds wrecks his drums and Matt Collins fills the stadium with bass. The headbangers were undeniable.

Beckett returns to the mic for a few quick bars of oration: the insights in to a man who had previously walked away from his life and spent months traveling leaving his whereabouts during that time unknown. He has a passion inside him unlike most rock singers.
"Old man in the sea
Old man in the sea
Old man in the sea

I dont need the love of my homeland
and I dont need a path to be righteous man
If I'm to die the only one hunting for the fish
Then I'll die my own martyr it'll be my wish"

The jam is back. Vin Peters shows off as he walks aimlessly around stage. Reported Failure is a classic guitar band and Vin is adding fuel to the eternal flame of insane lead guitar solos.

A few smashes of the drums. A last fade of the bass. And then the repeating delay feedback from Vin's guitar. The mosh pit lost its shit. The diehards loved hearing new material. The new fans felt more a part of something. The oldie fans were pissed that the band decided to change after clearly peaking in 2011; the new song is uninteresting to them. But for the most part, Reported Failure fans rolled their eyes at the oldie fans and promptly diverted their gaze to see what one of their favorite bands in the recent past have been working on as their status as closed off, and mysterious, has only grown.

Robert: That's a wrap, everyone. I hope you enjoyed yourselves, and if you weren't able to get tickets to this tour I hope we still see you sometime in the future. Busting our asses night after night in sets longer than twenty songs, Vin, Bilie, Matt, and I really got in sync with each other in ways we weren't before. That and seeing so many loving fans was the best part of the tour for us. What was your favorite part of the tour?
