REESE HOLLINSWORTH PREMIERES DEBUT SINGLE, ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM AT ‘MADE IN AMERICA’

PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA. August 31, 2014 - When you’re a newcomer who’s making your music festival debut at a festival where the likes of Kanye West and Pharrell headline, there’s a good chance you’ll be a forgettable act. However, Reese Hollinsworth came into the minority who actually shined at the closing timeslot of the Budweiser Made in America Music Festival, closing out the festival with a two-hour concert which left people dazzled and amazed by the spectacle.

The then-cover artist kicked off his set with an explosive rendition of “Run the World (Girls)” - the only single from his EP, In Hiding (2 of 2); flaunting an orange-and-white-sequined Tom Ford LBD-like dress along with black leather high-heeled ankle boots. The 24-year-old singer then continued with a stomp dance which preceded a powerful version of “End of Time”. More highlights of the set include “Partition”, “***Flawless” and a throwback to the late 90’s and early 2000’s with a Destiny’s Child medley which brought the audience to their feet.

However, the definite highlight of the night wasn’t a cover of a chart-topping hit nor an explosive version of an originally slow song. It was actually a performance of a soulful ballad: his official debut single. You heard me, ladies and gentlemen, Reese Hollinsworth is officially breaking out from his covering antics and singing original songs. The performance of “Rebirth (Kissing You)” - the title of the single, released on September 30 - followed a montage of Reese and collaborators in the studio, which was also followed by the announcement of a debut album, titled Reese|Yoncía (released on October 31), which was described in the post-show interview that it shows “my two personalities in life right now: one at home, kinda shy, loves sweaters and the winter; and one on stage, a far stronger, more powerful, fiercer personality.”

It has also been announced that songs from the album will be previewed as much as six times from now till October 31. When these songs are previewed, the full version of these songs will be sent to Beats Music, where they will be available for exclusive streaming, as part of Hollinsworth's 5-year deal with subscription service.

The premiere performance of his debut single is currently streaming on the Internet. What do you think of his new single? Did you expect something like this to happen? Tell us in the comments below.

Forgot to catch Reese Hollinsworth's performance of his debut single on Made in America? We've uploaded here for you for streaming:

Quote:
[Piano sounds start to come out of the speakers as the jumbotron lights up to the translucent image of Reese, embedded behind is various video footage of Reese and songwriters and producers during many stages of production; as a spoken version of the first verse to ‘I Was Here’ prompts the audience to come to life, cheering loudly.]

I wanna leave my footprints on the sands of time
Know there was something that, meant something that I left behind
When I leave this world, I'll leave no regrets
Leave something to remember, so they won't forget

[The translucent image then switches to an image of a woman’s black silhouette of such transparency; the video footage now switched into what looks like rehearsal footage for the concert. Reese’s voice, at the same time, continues ‘I Was Here’ with the chorus.]

I was here
I lived, I loved
I was here
I did, I've done everything that I wanted
And it was more than I thought it would be
I will leave my mark so everyone will know
I was here

[The video fades out to a black. Then, we see an image showing two album covers; between them says, “Reese|Yoncía - October 31 - Worldwide”, below it are “Download on iTunes” and “Get it on Google Play” badges. After a few seconds, the image fades to black and another image shows up: now showing a single cover artwork, beside it says, “Rebirth (Kissing You) - September 30 - Worldwide”, below are iTunes and Google Play badges.]

[Sounds of piano and violin start to play from the speaker as the jumbotron starts to open sideways to reveal Reese, dressed simply in a grey T-shirt, black leather pants, finished with white thigh-high high-heeled boots; strangely, with no wig and makeup, just Reese, in his male glory (not actually naked or anything). He walks towards the microphone stand as the jumbotron slowly closes back to its original form. After that, the jumbotron starts playing a video of Reese with a male character in various stages of a relationship.]

My darling, I have never been in love until I saw your face
The feeling of love showers over me like the pouring rain
My hero, my beating heart was filled with pain
But when my skin feels your touch, I feel reborn

I’m kissing you, the touch of your lips on mine is my rebirth
I crave for your fingers on my skin

[The strings start to intensify and their volume starts to go up as Reese starts to sing the second verse, which follows contrasting-verse-chorus structure. All instruments die down when Reese sings the second chorus.]

You're my father, you're my soldier
You protect me, boy you save me
You're my best friend, you're my husband
You are my doctor, counselor, provider, professor, my everything

And I love you, I love you, I love you, yes I love you
I need you, I need you, I need you, I can't live without you
I trust you, I trust you, with every ounce of me
Just teach me how to trust, just take me

When we make love, I hear a voice so deep inside of me
Telling me I should avoid your kind
But my heart’s already falling, it’s so out of reach
But I’m not afraid

I’m kissing you forever and ever and ever
And you are my savior and my rebirth

[The orchestra then fluctuates in intensity as the third verse comes around. It’s mellow at times but can be very emotionally intense at the same time. It all dies down again with the final chorus.]

I feel reborn
Out of the pain and the heartache
Out of the smoke and flames
And we can cry together
We can grow together
Be ourselves together
And I love you more than living
Yes, I love you more than life
I’m falling into you

I’m kissing you

"Rebirth (Kissing You)" is a song recorded by Vietnamese-American recording artist Reese Hollinsworth. It was written by Timothy Atack, Reese Hollinsworth, Beyoncé Knowles and Desree Weekes; its production handled by Hollinsworth, Knowles and Nellee Hooper. The song is included in the standard edition of Hollinsworth's debut album, Reese|Yoncía, and serves as the lead single from the album. A pop ballad set in the key of A minor, the song utilizes a simple, understated production with little more than piano and string instruments. The single is set to be released on September 30, 2014, exactly a month before the album is released.

According to the sheet music published at Musicnotes.com by T C F Music Publishing, Inc., "Kissing You" is set in 12/8 time with a moderately slow tempo of 112 beats per minute. Written in the key of A minor, it has a sequence of Dm7–Am7–G/B–C–G/B–Am7–C/G as its chord progression. Hollinsworth's voice spans from the low note of A3 to the high note of D5. The song is included as the third track on the first disc of Reese|Yoncía, aptly titled Reese; which describes a personal side of Hollinsworth, one few members of the public have seen. The single is planned to be released on all three major formats of music: retail, airplay and streaming. The track will be sent to physical and digital retailers on September 30, 2014, while the song will be sent to radio and streaming outlets on the following day, October 1, 2014.
