REESE HOLLINSWORTH AT THE BOBBY BONES SHOW

UserPostedImageUserPostedImage

Background:

On the day after his premiere performance of his debut single "Rebirth (Kissing You)", Reese was invited to The Bobby Bones Show to talk about the single, the album and the idea behind both of them. This is part of Reese's publicity trek to promote the single and the album.

Bobby Bones: Okay, so our next guest is our first non-country artist in a few months. But he was close to writing country on his debut album. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome performing extraordinaire, Reese Hollinsworth. Everybody clap for him!

Reese Hollinsworth: *comes in and sits in chair* Hi! How are you guys today?

Lunchbox: We're great.

*Everyone laughs*

Bobby: Well, welcome to The Bobby Bones Show. How does it feel?

Reese: It feels pretty rad.

Bobby: Well, I'd just like to start out our conversation saying that it's an honor to have you here. We know we're a country show. You weren't supposed to talk to us at all. So, it's a great honor to have you here.

Reese: Well, thank you. I feel the same. *laughs*

Bobby: So, let's get into the single, shall we? You did a lot of things at Made in America, didn't you? I mean, you announced your album, you premiered your first single and all the while you were singing and dancing your ass off. How does it feel, now that you're free from all the covers?

Reese: Well, personally, it feels like freedom. *chuckles* I mean, it does feel like I'm free. But I don't know if the public's gonna say that I'm an original now, or are they still gonna stick to the covering image of mine. You get what I'm saying?

Bobby: Same here. I remember, at the first few shows we were in Nashville, I guess we didn't sound like a country show. Clearly they were expecting some deep Southern accent and things like that. And so, people started going on Facebook and Twitter and talk about how we weren't a country show and we needed to get off Nashville. And now, even though we have country artists coming in all the time, people are still saying we're not worthy of Nashville and not even national radio.

Reese: Like they aren't susceptible to change.

Bobby: Yeah... I feel like we have a profound connection right now.

Reese: I know, right?

Bobby: So let's move to the album. So, first, could you explain the album title?

Reese: Well, you all know the 'me' on stage. But I'm not as...fierce *chuckles* as I am onstage. So, I kinda reflected that dynamic onto the album.

Bobby: So is it gonna be like two discs?

Reese: Actually it is. You know I have two album covers, so one's gonna be on the front, and one's gonna be on the back.

Bobby: So you mentioned you had some collaborators on the album. We already know you have Beyoncé working with you. Who else is on the album?

Reese: Well, there are three more where I work with Beyoncé. And then I have three songs working with Max Martin, which is fun.

Bobby: What about features?

Reese: I think I have two or three features on the album. I have one on the deluxe edition, that one I know gonna have a feature, but the person's not really locked in yet. I have an EDM track where I work with My Own Violence, he's in college now. And I also worked with a rapper who's featured on the album. This is a surprise, so I can't tell you yet.

Amy: Don't worry. We'll keep your secret.

Bobby: We are on national radio, Amy. He can't tell you on the microphone. Let's take the microphone off him *moves microphone away from Reese* and make him tell us.

Reese: (at lower volume) This is ridiculous. I am not telling. Scooter's gonna kill me now give me back my microphone. *takes microphone back*

Bobby: Okay, so that was a lot of fun. So you're performing in the Today Show next week. What are we expecting to see?

Reese: Well, I think, basically, we're gonna preview some songs. We're rehearsing a lot lately, but the songs can still be changed at any minute.

Bobby: And you're gonna be performing on the pre-show of the Fan Choice Awards.

Reese: I know, right? So awesome!

Lunchbox: But we can't seem to understand why Damion Holmes would allow you to perform after what you said.

Reese: What did I say?

Lunchbox: Well, to jog your memory, to paraphrase, you said the Sexiest Male/Female categories were dumb and weren't doing anyone a favor.

Reese: Then you mustn't have caught me and him on Twitter.

Bobby: We're talking formal English now. Musn't and stuff.

Reese: So, my laptop was hacked the night that that stuff that was said. So I didn't know anything. And I read the FCAs announcement the next morning, so I was excited and I went on and tweeted about it. Then, Damion Holmes replied to my tweet, saying that I said that I spoke negatively of the FCAs. So I didn't know what he was talking about. And MTV and BuzzFeed and EW and ET kept talking about how Damion and I got into a feud. And I still didn't know what was going on and it turns out that I wrote all that stuff that Lunchbox told me. *chuckles* And I didn't remember saying anything like that. And I was sober. I did not drink the night before so don't give me crap about it. And my laptop security said that there was a breach and I'd been hacked. So I told Damion all about that and we're all clear.

Bobby: So just like-

Reese: (whispers) Follow me on Twitter: @reesehollsworth.

Bobby: What?

Reese: (louder volume) FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER: @REESEHOLLSWORTH.

Bobby: This kid knows what he's doing, eh? Promoting himself on my show.

Reese: *laughs*

Bobby: Okay, so let's talk TV. Because if you're a human being, then you watch TV.

Reese: Yeah. This season-

Bobby: And- I'm sorry, what?

Reese: This season I'm totally living for Thursday nights.

Bobby: Why?

Reese: It's Shonda Rhimes night.

Amy: Finally got a partner in crime. Can I get a mid-air high five?

Reese: Oh yeah. High five! *laughs*

Bobby: In fact, we all live for Thursday nights, but we all love different shows. Like I love Scandal, Lunchbox loves How to Get Away with Murder, Nada over here loves Grey's Anatomy and Amy is kind of the minority who wants to watch all three.

Reese: Me too! 'Nother high five! *laughs*

Bobby: Okay, so I know that you have a tight schedule-

Reese: Do they tell you that?

Bobby: What?

Reese: Did they tell you that I have a tight schedule today?

Bobby: Yeah. Why?

Reese: They were totally lying. *chuckles* I mean, after this I'm gonna go in the studio and record something and maybe rehearse some more. But that's it for today.

Bobby: Why does every single management team lie to me about their clients' schedule? Like, this is ridiculous.

Reese: Okay. So what was your question?

Bobby: Now that you speak of going into the studio, are you gonna release the tracklist to your album anytime soon?

Reese: Probably. I don't know, I'm gonna have to ask Scooter about this. But yeah, probably.

Bobby: Okay, I think that's it. Thanks for being with us.

Reese: Thanks for having me.

Bobby: That was Reese Hollinsworth. In a moment, we'll be back-

Reese: Wait, wait, wait, hold on. I brought you guys cookies. Wait, just gimme a minute.

Bobby: This is like Taylor Swift all over again.

Reese: *laughs* Here.

Bobby: What is it?

Reese: It's like strawberry and banana and chocolate and chocolate chip cookies.

Bobby: This is delicious. Did you make these yourself?

Reese: No, I had The Savoy make it for me. Of course I did. It's not like I have a personal life. *laughs* Okay, finally, bye. *leaves*

Bobby: Such a nice kid, don't you think?

Lunchbox: I'm still not buying the whole hacking act.

Bobby: Amy?

Amy: I don't give a damn. I just care that he's totally gonna join me and my husband Thursday nights.

Bobby: Wouldn't your husband be jealous?

Amy: He knows Reese is gay. He's not gonna care.

Bobby: *laughs* Okay, when we come back, we'll have more surprises coming your way on The Bobby Bones Show. We'll be right back.
