PLEASE GIVE IT UP FOR REESE HOLLINSWORTH!
[The lights dim down to a soft blue which signifies the start of Reese’s performance. The stage shows Reese standing with his face facing downwards to his left, clad in a black bodysuit with a sheer middle and elbow-length sleeves, paired with a pair of black knee-high four-inch-heel boots with multiple cut-outs. The music starts playing in staccato from the speakers, and the spotlights acting in the same way before Reese employs his head voice for the first notes of the song, “ The Death of Me” - his new single. After about fifteen seconds of head voice and background music, he starts singing the chorus. After singing the first four lines, the percussion comes in and the spotlights amp up, bringing the stage to life.] I’ll tell you now that you’re my death The death from which I’ll never recover Baby, please come closer to me Kiss me, boy, and drive me crazy Be my, be my, baby, be my, you drive me crazy Be my, be my, baby, baby, you’re the death of me[The singer then turns around to find his two main male dancers sitting on two nondescript black chairs on the two sides of the stage and an empty chair of the same description in the middle. He walks to the chair in the middle and sits on it before singing the first verse. During the first verse, another male dancer comes near Reese and bends down on one knee. The dancer reaches for Reese’s hand, which the singer lovingly holds out for the dancer to caress. After the first half, Reese gets pulled up by the dancer and the latter prompts Reese to twirl, which the singer gladly does. The singer ‘escapes’ the dancer’s grip by the last line of the first verse.] I see what you’re doing, you’re trying to lure me in You don’t know if it gon’ work, hoping silently that it does So let me pull you out of your misery, the things you do are clearly working for me Baby, baby, I love you, I love you The way you look like an Adonis is beyond me Baby, just come here and just love me, just love me ‘Cause I already know you’re gonna be the death of me[Reese then starts to walk to the front of the stage and down the black steps before the stage for the chorus, prompting the audience to cheer wildly. He reaches out his hand, of which fans excitedly take a hold hard, so hard he almost slipped from the slim steps and singing. However, he quickly regrasped his composure and kept moving from one side to the other for fans to hold his hand. Nearing the finish of the chorus, he walks slowly back to the stage, waving to the fans before saying, “ How about y’all all be the deaths of me this afternoon, Madison Square Garden?” to the fans, to which he receives excited response in the form of screaming and whistling.] I’ll tell you now that you’re my death The death from which I’ll never recover Baby, please come closer to me Kiss me, boy, and drive me crazy Be my, be my, baby, be my, you drive me crazy Be my, be my, baby, baby, you’re the death of me[Unbeknownst to the audience, while Reese was singing the chorus, the male dancers were doing an intricate hip hop-like choreography. When the chorus ended, the three male dancers behind were back to arranging chairs, but now only two were on the stage, with two dancers on each. After ending the first half of the second verse, he plops down on one of the dancers’ laps and reaches up to caress his hand and face before finishing the second verse and emerging back to standing position and walking back to the middle of the stage.] I give you all of my trust, just not to mess this up Just keep me going higher, while we’re still in the club This anonymity cuts so deep, when you’re the only boy that I see I wish if only that I was the same for you When I know your eyes aren’t even on me at the time Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, I want you From the night to the mo-oh-oh-oh-oh-orning, baby[This time around, the singer stays at his spot on the stage, while he calmly started out the chorus. But not long after, the dancers started to walk around the singer, intentionally trying to make him slip up. He does for a little, giggling for a little bit which brought a smile to all the dancers and prompting them to stop dancing circles around Reese. He ends the chorus by turning his back to the audience.] I’ll tell you now that you’re my death The death from which I’ll never recover Baby, please come closer to me Kiss me, boy, and drive me crazy Be my, be my, baby, be my, you drive me crazy Be my, be my, baby, baby, you’re the death of me[The union of three chairs returns to the stage as Reese uses his head voice once more and keeping his back to the audience and the dancers do a mysterious part of the choreography. After finishing the head voice, he turns around again and steps out of the makeshift semi-nest made by the chairs and sings the bridge.] This anonymity cuts so deep, when you’re the only boy that I see Oh, babe, I really want you to be my everything The way you move drives me crazy, just straight-up mad for you Baby, just keep going, harder than ever before ‘Cause whatever you do, you got me[There’s a short break in background music as Reese says, “ Everybody, get your cellphones out, I’mma take some selfies with y’all,” which prompted near-deafening screams from the crowd. Reese takes the steps down to the red carpet again and takes interacting with fans to a new level, keeping his promise to selfies with the audience. Amazingly, he calmly keeps his composure as the fans take selfies with him, even through all the high belts in the last chorus. Although, only a few people get selfies as he has to return to the stage for the climax of his performance. He ends the performance with the all-too-familiar head voice we’ve seen in this particular performance.] I’ll tell you now that you’re my death (you’re my death) The death from which I’ll never recover (recover) Baby, please come closer to me (come closer to me) Kiss me, boy, and drive me crazy (and drive me crazy) Be my, be my, baby, (be my) be my, you drive me crazy (be my baby) Be my, be my, baby, baby, you’re the death of me (the death of me) |
