This is Simply Music talking about the American leg tour of Best in the World tour with Sabrina Franc, My Own Violence and the headliner Kidd Amaze. Kidd Already had a tour around the country with the Listen and Be Amazed where he stop by along music scenes and did his set by also giving local talent chances to come up and try to shine. This is however The first time we get to see Sabrina and MOV's Jeremy on stage and listen to live. While Kidd is suppose to the "headliner" the crowds is a mixed bag of indie, or hipsters beside the rap or hip hop lovers. Why indie people seem to like him is beside me but then again he seem to always bring a mixture of people to shows and that only grew by the time this first leg came to an end.

Sabrina Franc

Still raw with her talent and presentation, this was the reason why Permanent Reminder took the gamble of letting Sabrina Franc go to work under somebody. Sabrina most of the time starts off the show and by most they really kind of gauge the crowd and if the crowd is pump already Sabrina will be there to kind of cool off the excitement but in a lot of area's Sabrina opening act is what starts the build for excitement. Listening to Sabrina's set you can hear why she is up there she can sing what needs work is the stage presence. She need to work on the little things that makes the show more enjoyable than the CD. She has some empty space in the set while they set up for the next song which is a no no. Yet she does get more engaging once she starts singing. Stationary in one spot a lot of the time doesn't really build excitement but she isn't going to take away from the singing and has gotten more vocal lately and could get better that by the end of this tour you can see a not only better performer but a better musician as well. Her playlist includes tracks from her CD "This Is Me" As PR was looking at this like a "Alright we get it Kidd you want to do the Matt Young thing and go to try and make your own. Still go ahead and train Sabrina with what you learn from Matt and if you come back the roster will be much better,"

Playlist:
1)This is Me *New*
2)Scream and Shout
3)Smile *New*
4)War *New*
5)Make Me Your Woman
6)Better Off Without You
7)Crazy

9)My Way *New*

My Own Violence

So once get through Sabrina My Own Violence comes in and all of a sudden you feel like a mosh pit is going to break out all of a sudden. Which is crazy, cause we I first came to show the last show in Chicago it was a stadium but it didn't have a hip hop feel to it. More like a tour with not a lot of connection to it but that is the critical me that wants to nick pick and I will but the musical me when "Oh sh*t, this happen?" so I will say this about My Own Violence, I will get the cd and this was somewhat of a clever promo of "I'm going to sneak in with the hipsters and toss my music in for you guys to wonder who I am." The sounds if you break it down to it's most basic is that they go for sound, but going from Sabrina's calm and strong sound to the hype of MOV is like going from cd with jazz to someone saying "I'm getting more let get some hype music in here before I fall asleep." From sitting down to standing up and not to say that I don't think they planned it that way. I'm sure that they figured we are going to space out energy because the show is somewhat long lets not have them on their feet all of the time or lose the excitement too quickly. People eat it up the show are to work up the music get people moving and it's not something that you expect from a hip hop tour, Ah I see why the hipster come. Playlist is from his CD (Re)Start Codon Nick picking the tittle could have been something easier to roll off the tongue musical me thinks who was he trying to reach it's nice to not have a niche early on and appeal to the masses but you need to have somewhat of a fan base that you can tap into while having appeal to draw others to that fan base.

Kidd Amaze

Alright if you haven't gotten the buzzed from MOV who is a character on stage Kidd Amaze comes on stage and he does the beginning of his set from his first song off of his Mixtape "Where Do I Begin" and from there he goes through songs from all of his work "Listen And Be Amazed," "Kidd At The Adult Table," "Best In The World Mixtape," even some unreleased work. The set was expansive and it makes me wonder "He has done a lot of work but he only been out for a year right? He isn't taking work from other people have he?" I thought it was a good set for the most part. Keep the crowd going as they change into other sets but when I got home to write this report another one of my colleague work something for the Canada shows and that's when we realized Kidd has different sets for different places, and thanks to looking at youtube not only are the songs played or not played when they are played varies. Be it studies or stats that show one group likes a song more than another, I don't know if I should be mad or impressed. In DC Kidd did more of his early work and less of the album in more favor for the mixtapes material, while Midwest got an even balance of both. People on the west and up north got a different feel More Professional work with some unreleased tracks. If your in New York your not going to get a lot of the album "Kidd At The Adult Table," no matter if you like it or not you will get a more edgier set though. So what do people think of the set and how do know about the different sets. "He plays different stuff, lets follow him and see what else he pulls out." Ah I see it. Being to the show brings a newness to it if it makes any sense. Then looking at the workers before they had some new songs that the crowd never heard before, why not let them hear something unexpected. Be it Kidd Amaze changing sets, MOV playing from his Freshman CD, or Sabrina growing with her sound on the road. All of them bring a sense of new to the stage that hasn't been seen before. But for some reason I don't like it. I want it to have everyone feel like I felt but people are different so the shows are different. Maybe it is because I'm a cheapskate and don't want to pay money to see what changes and what else he brings out.

OOC: Good work on this :) I like how you made it realistic and didn't just call everything "amazing" but included what could have been better or worked on. Kidd Amazd's set was awesome but I wish he included more songs from the album! :(

Lexi: Eh, what do critics really know about music anyway? I bet the tour was epic beyond all imagination. They just don't want to admit it. ;)
