About the song"Lights Off" Is the debut single from country singer/songwriter, and American Idol contestant Bryce Green the song was written by Bryce Green, Christian Travis and Kelly Nelson the song was produced by Travis with the help of Bryce, Bryce began writing the song back in 2012 after an awkward run in with one of his ex's in a bar the song speaks about the run in showing details from the conversation to Bryce's actual thoughts at first Bryce seems hesitant and unhappy that his ex happened to walk in but later on we hear Bryce sing the lines "I don't know why I'm still talkin' to you/Maybe I'm just hopin' for round two" which is basically Bryce questioning himself for still talking to him and questioning the possibility of them starting over while recording songs for his upcoming debut album Bryce found this in his old song book and brought it in to the studio where he got Travis and Nelson to help him fix it up a little then decided it'd be best to release this track as his debut single Bryce also performed the track four days before the release at a small secret concert in the Dirty Bastard Hotel and Casino
The song starts out with with a few instruments playing through the intro what actually give it more of a pop-country feel than just country after the intro finishes we hear Bryce come in singing in his rather smooth southern accent Bryce sings in a more laid back way as the beat sounds as if it's been muted a bit but is still audible through the first half however it eventually kicks back in for the final half of the verse right before it changes up a little for the pre-chorus which is still sung in that more laid back voice however towards the end it gets a little bit faster he then makes his way into the chorus which is sung a little bit higher however the laid-back vocal style we heard before is still there as well as he sings through the chorus the beat begins to really pick up the song and the meaning sound rather different as the chorus has this fun upbeat sound to it which matches nicely with Bryce's vocals however the song which would usually be sung as a ballad is changed up and sung and played in a more fun upbeat style Bryce then makes his way into the second verse and unlike before the beat isn't muted but can be heard in full though it did slow down a bit from the chorus it still has this fun almost popish sound to it with a country twist he sings in the same laid back style we heard before he then makes his way into the pre-chorus after he finishes the second verse which is sung and played the same as before and then the chorus which is also sung and played the same way as before after finishing the second chorus we hear Bryce go into the short bridge where it gets a bit slower and more emotion can be heard in Bryce's voice seeming as if he connects with this part the most almost as he shows a bit more emotion on the fun country-pop record here he then sings the pre-chorus which is slowed down a lot more than the previous times before making his way into the fun upbeat chorus again after finishing this we hear him sing to final lines which are from the pre-chorus before the song eventually comes to an end
Bryce's comments"I am so proud to be saying that I'm finally releasing my very own professional single I honestly want to thank a few people before I get into the meaning and all that shit so I wanna say thanks to Christian and Kelly for helping me out with these lyrics and then to Christian again who also helped out with the production behind this track, big thanks my brothers Chase and James you indeed are my brothers so thank you for being my brothers haha no thanks for stickin' by my side you know I love you knuckleheads, I wanna thank Kaleidoscope for giving me a real shot, Idol for helping me out along the way and of course all of y'all for supporting me throughout everything y'all are a blessing and I wouldn't trade any of you for anything in this world anyway onto the song I wrote this song a few years back about an experience with an ex who walked in to a bar I was in and basically just started telling me how things were goin' great for him job wise and relationship wise then he start talkin' about us and yeah just listen to the lyrics I mean there aren't any hidden messages I just put it all out there for y'all to hear thanks for checking out my debut single I hope all of you enjoyed it and also thanks for showing up for my performance a few days ago just thanks for being amazing haha"
Of all the bars out in this town
You had to step into this one
Walk on over here, offer a beer
And sit yourself right down
You tell me bout how you're happy
While I just lie right through my teeth
Cause I ain't moved on not at all
Your kiss is still on my mind
Boy you still get me wild
You don't even realize
That with you right by me I'm goin out of my mind
It's too early to be round me baby why don't you
Just head over there
You found me at my lowest
Now I'm sinkin' lower
If I didn't know better I'd say you did this on purpose
I ain't up for reminiscin' but boy you're still talkin'
Bout how we use to lay close with all of the lights off
With all of the lights offYou're talking bout what we use to do
How we'd kiss outside just cause we could
Baby I wish you'd walk out that door
But I don't want you to
Now you got me laughing of course
Cause you know all my favorite jokes
The next song on the radio
Is the one we first kissed to
Boy you still get me wild
You don't even realize
That with you right by me I'm goin out of my mind
It's too early to be round me baby why don't you
Just head over there
You found me at my lowest
Now I'm sinkin' lower
If I didn't know better I'd say you did this on purpose
I ain't up for reminiscin' but boy you're still talkin'
Bout how we use to lay close with all of the lights off
With all of the lights offI don't know why I'm still talkin' to you
Maybe I'm just hopin' for round two
Boy you still get me wild
You don't even realize
That with you right by me I'm goin out of my mind
It's too early to be round me baby why don't you
Just head over
You found me at my lowest
Now I'm sinkin' lower
If I didn't know better I'd say you did this on purpose
I ain't up for reminiscin' but boy you're still talkin'
Bout how we use to lay close with all of the lights off
With all of the lights off, with all of the lights offBoy you still get me wild, you don't even realize
