He held back from releasing the full mastered track for several weeks because he wanted to perfect the raps and the production to the best of his ability. He recorded the track in his own home, using rented recording equipment from a friend. The process was trial and error for Shreve, as he had never recorded his own raps. Quote: "I decided to give FL Studio a try after getting fed up with Garageband. I wanted to use something made specifically for electronic. The problem was that I had no idea how to use it so I ended up pulling an almost all nighter trying all of the features out and learning how to use it. I figured out how to sample at about two in the morning and I was so pumped and proud of it, I decided to use it in Cocaine. It's the vocal sample!" Once reviewing the track over with his friends, who gave him careful constructive criticism, he produced his first beat; which is one he is very proud of. Finally, he felt confident enough to release it. It was a hard process for him, as he's always been a little sensitive to harsh criticism, but he decided that if people hate it, they hate it, and there's nothing he can do about it. Track description: The track starts out with a pitched down vocal sample with reverb slapped on it. It loops several times before an 808 hi-hat goes hand in hand with Joziah's raps, which stay mostly monotone. He stays emotionally stoic throughout the track. This is most prominent in the chorus, where he self harmonizes "Cocaine/Keepin' it profane/And public domain." The song's instrumentals stay consistent through the whole track, making it easy to space out to. Joziah: Hm, I've been using a new conditioner recently. Maybe my conditioner is laced with something that just makes me relaxed...

This was a good song to come out too, just remember like the great rick james said cocaine is a hell of a drug.
