Valentina Hart releases her promised Christmas song, albeit which sounded like a spur of the moment idea that fans weren't sure was actually going to happen, just days after announcing her plans via Twitter. The song comes after an extremely successful year for Valentina, who was one of the frontrunners in the charts of this year, dominating with her brand of infectious indie/synth pop music. As a gift back to fans for all of their support towards her Too True to Be Good debut album era, Val's Christmas song has been released for free via Soundcloud.
The young Californian songstress takes on "River", a song originally recorded by legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, giving it her own festive twist and adding her own musical stamp on the beautiful piano ballad. Though Valentina's switched a few things up and brought the tempo up very slightly, the original song and its sound is still very much present in Valentina's cover, keeping the piano at the forefront of the verses, while gentle sleigh bells chime in the background, barely audible but just enough to add some depth to the instrumental.
"I suddenly became all wrapped up in the festive season and realised that I've always wanted to give a Christmas song a go. Not a typical, cliché one... I'm not sure how that'd work for me. I mean, I'm up for it on the karaoke, but you have to get me mildly drunk for that. So like, just one drink will do," Val states on her song cover of choice. "Joni Mitchell's songwriting is a big influence to me. I knew if I was gonna cover a song for the holidays, it would have to be this cause... well, Joni is queen. There's plenty of other groovy Christmas songs out there to listen to, so if you just wanna chill with a glass of mulled wine and listen to this, you can sit with us. Where we wear pink every day of the week baybaaay."

I really can't say anything bad, this is nicely executed and a good song. For once, I won't slay the artist and extend my congrats on a good song.
