Single: HANDYMAN
Artist: WINNIE
Label: Safe Haven Records
Release Date: January 18th, 2015
Genre: Hard Rock, Heavy Metal
Written by: Winnie Minami
Produced by: FancyN, W. Minami, inZane
Length: 4:50

Serving as a follow up to the critically accliamed debut single RUN, HANDYMAN is a song by the American recording artist Winnie Minami who goes by the mononym WINNIE. It was written by Minami and produced by FancyN. The guitar that stars in the song is played by inZane but it's melodies were composed by Minami herself. Taking an interesting turn from her Power Pop debut, HANDYMAN is a pastiche of hard rock and heavy metal with influences of punk, dance-rock, and glam metal. It's lyrics speak of a lust-filled relationship, with an ongoing metaphor of a drug addiction which leaves her begging her "handyman" for another "fix".

WINNIE's vocals are performed in an alternate tone from the alluring coo that made RUN such am irresistible track, instead she uses a voice described as "visceral" that begs with aggression and an unbreakable passion. Her delivery was also called "feline"-esque and "raking" with a "frisky muscularity" which is often helped by chants throughout the song that makes it that much more of a hit. The song uses a driving rock tempo composed in the key of G major, with WINNIE's vocals ranging from G3 to E5. It has a sequence of E5–A5–B5 as its chord progression during its chorus, using E5 during the verses and B5–A5 during its bridge. It opens with a panther growl, serving as an ode to Cat Woman. "Whenever I decided to busk at night, Cat Woman was always my go-to costume. It's like when I put her outfit on and channeled her personality, I felt dominant and in control, even in the situation of me standing on the side of street and being submissive to what ever could grab a civilian's attention." Throughout the song, cowbells accompany the hard hitting drumkit that lays the foundation for a "scorching" guitar solo, its intensity likened as between Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistible" and Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" by The New York Times. Its instrumentation is thought to make the song a "headbanger" and a successful crossover into the metal genre.

"This song is a total juxtaposition." WINNIE says while commenting on the track. "It's literally just a song about begging for dick from a douche bag. But that's okay, who in their right mind wouldn't beg for good dick? What's so ironic is how bad ass this song sounds. Not only am I singing it in that, "shut up, I know what I'm doing" attitude but the production is so hard-hitting that it actually kind of sounds like I know what I'm doing, which is demanding good dick! Isn't it cool how mere adjustments like that could make a song seem like it's bringing someone to their knees when it's really the other way around?"

The single was released January 18th, 2016 under Safe Haven Records, the newest booming record label owned by Alec Cole. It was sent to radio and made available for digital download on the same day, while WINNIE's debut single RUN still holds strong in the top 9 on airplay and top 12 on the digital downloads chart.

WINNIE
CHANT

High off Shakespeare lines
I'm out my mind
No need to check the time
I'm stuck here for life
I was never strong
Never claimed I was
Strung out over you
With a rush of adrenaline

You can't call this love
I don't care!
He'll be moving on
Just tell me where!
That feeling wont last forever
I'm not dumb!
But as long as he'll drill into my arm
I will come!

You are mines for now
And now
I'm yours
Baby, do whatever you like!
On the edge of losing my life
Every night
Don't think
No one could ever take me this high!

Handyman
I need a helping hand
I got a few screws loose
And they call your name
Always livin' life
Driven by pleasure and pain
Handyman
Come blow me away

Who needs moderation?
I want it all!
Gotta milk it dry
Before you withdraw
I'm gon' wreck myself
Thinking bout you
Not even my magic rabbit
Can replicate what you induce

This is manipulation, not lust!
I'll be fine
He'll abuse your trust!
They do every time
There's always Mr. Right!
But can he hit me with that left?
Knock the kitty out cold
And leave me out of breath?

You are mines for now
And now
I'm yours
Baby, do whatever you like!
On the edge of losing my life
Every night
Don't think
No one could ever take me this high!

Come blow me away!!
GUITAR!

[guitar solo]

Handyman!
Handyman!

You are mines for now
And now
I'm yours
Baby, do whatever you like!
On the edge of losing my life
Every night
Don't think
No one could ever take me this high!

Handyman
I need a helping hand
I got a few screws loose
And they call your name
Always livin' life
Driven by pleasure and pain
Handyman
Come blow me away

Sing it loud!

Handyman
I need a helping hand
I got a few screws loose
And they call your name
Always livin' life
Driven by pleasure and pain
Handyman
Come blow me away

Handyman!
Lend a hand!
I'll loosen up!
Just give me some!

WINNIE: Well Mr. Erich, I've been to my fair share of raves and I only remember 2 of them and only because they were shite. Who knows what's happened during the blackouts. From what I've experienced, it's probably some perverted loot, where you legitimately grab whatever you can. I can confirm this one isn't about you though. I've dated an artsy hobo back in my day who was hung and tatted. Fucker used to steal all of my tips.

Joziah: I'm loving this sound. It's so retro and old school. Once in a while, it's nice to see that old school isn't dead. Good job!

Clara: This song really makes me think of those pornos where the wife is unsatisfied and she's home alone but a handyman comes to fix the washer or something and yeah you know where it goes from there. Not sure how I feel about that haha. But it sounds cool well produced I guess I'll be waiting to see what you come up with next
