Title: “Poster Kids of Pop-Punk” (feat. Kara Romero) By: Riot! In The Boulevard From: Boycott Love: Hostile Takeover Edition Release Date: February 8, 2016 Length: 6:07 Format: CD Single, Digital Download, 7” Single, Weekly Airplay Recorded: Half-Moon Studios, Las Vegas, Nevada – November 2015 Genre: Pop-Punk, Alternative Rock, Rap, Hip-Hop Label: Studio60 Records Writer(s): Amy Meyer, Adam Benjamin, Jason Greenberg, Kara Romero Producer(s): Riot! In The Boulevard, Avil Hartman “Poster Kids of Pop-Punk” is a song written by American pop-punk trio ‘Riot! In The Boulevard’, originally taken from their 2015 album “Boycott Love”, it was later reworked by the alternative rap/pop musician ‘Kara Romero’ who added her own verse to the song and re-recorded the song with the Las Vegas based rock group for the remixed version of “Boycott Love” titled “Hostile Takeover” which is also taken from the single of the same name, released early in 2015. The primary body of the song came from Amy Meyer, Adam Benjamin and Jason Greenberg as they were writing their fifth studio album in early 2015 and the general theme of the track appears to be relatively autobiographical as the song tackles themes that the trio likely felt when they were starting out as a band. The track is set to be released as the second single from the remixed version of their album. It will also mark the bands nineteenth single released in their five-year career. It also marks the first major feature for the still relatively unknown ‘Kara Romero’, she has three singles to her name but is expected to add more to her resume in the coming months and year with this high-profile collaboration likely to be the catalyst alongside recent hit single “Same Old Tears” and her upcoming appearance in the independent movie “One Final Memory”. As for Riot! in the Boulevard, they are now currently on the opening leg of their world tour and a new album is expected later in the year. “Poster Kids of Pop-Punk” (feat. Kara Romero) will be the first single released from Riot! in the Boulevard in 2016 and the second track released from their remixed album “Hostile Takeover”. It’s expected that the band will continue to release more singles from the remix album while they’re away on their world tour before debuting new songs from their next album a little later in the summer. The latest version of this song was recorded in November 2015 by Kara Romero at Half-Moon Studios in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was produced by both Riot! in the Boulevard and Avil Hartman whom also produced the original version of the song and will be released on February 8, 2016 as a CD Single, Digital Download and 7” Single and will be distributed through Studio60 Records. LYRICS“Somebody once told me That I would amount to nothin’ Yeah, they always told me to give up while I’m still young They say the kids don’t listen to music anymore But my stubbornness sent me away Told everybody I’m gonna make it on my own Staring out at the empty skyline In my apartment all alone Dreaming of winning I kept on singing
They say I need to write a song That the kids could dance to Doesn’t matter what it’s about Cause they’ll never listen to the words Just a melody and a beat for the kids on the street A melody and beat For the kids on the street
But I’m a kid myself Just looking for something to believe in Looking for a song with a meaning, a song that I can sing And I believe that if we sing it loud That we’ll feel like we’re part of a crowd That’s all in this together Street youth forever
Alright … poster kids Stated that they’d do this all on their own Started out in twenty eleven, now they’re watching from the fucking throne Call em’ pop-punk kids, corporate dolls, misfits, freaks or renegades They been creating a legacy and throwing lyrics out like motherfucking hand grenades And to all the people that said they wouldn’t make it That they’re just created by a label to make the frontwoman fucking famous Ya’ll can check out a bands career, it’s right there for you to see These fuckers have done it all, they ain’t even hit twenty-three Accolades, fuck it all Legitimacy equals standing tall Dark times, they’ve had that too Proof that wildest dreams … they do come true How can three kids from Vegas Dream up of being famous And not end up fucked like the rest of us All fucked from the bright lights and star dust Dunno how it’s done But some kids have found the key Poster kids of pop-punk That was always their fucking destiny
They call us the poster kids of pop-punk The puppeteers of this scene Teaching the heartbroken youth how to dream And understand that we’re more than just the image they show So let’s put our voices together Sing in unison like a choir Let’s ignite each other with love and desire
Just a melody and a beat for the kids on the street A melody and beat For the kids on the street We’ll provide the melody and beat For the kids on the street A melody and beat For the kids on the street
We can be so much more Than the image that they always show The majority stand with pride While all the scene kids come together They collide And set the sky on fire Vagabond hearts Vow to stay young forever
They call us the poster kids of pop-punk The puppeteers of this scene Teaching the heartbroken youth how to dream And understand that we’re more than just the image they show So let’s put our voices together Sing in unison like a choir Let’s ignite each other with love and desire
Just a melody and a beat for the kids on the street A melody and beat For the kids on the street We’ll provide the melody and beat For the kids on the street A melody and beat For the kids on the street” |
